Satellite Network

Celebrity fashion stylists work very closely with the stars. They hear many first hand stories straight from their clients when they work with them privately inside their dressing rooms. Since these stars entrust their personal stories to them, they should know how to protect their client's privacy. Gathering news from the stars of one network and sharing it with the stars of another is very unethical.

There is this one stylist who has several clients from two different networks. While styling his clients from TV5, he would gather all the information and share it with his clients from the GMA7, and vice versa. This is his strategy to get closer to all his celebrity clients. As a client, you should know better that if he can share something private about another client to you, it is most likely that he also shares something about you to his other clients. My advice to these stars is to be more careful when you share anything to this stylist friend because he is betraying your trust.

Do you know who is this celebrity stylist? His last name begins with the letter M. I think I want him to be my friend so that I can have more celebrity stories to share on Fashion PULIS.

What's Their Common Denominator?

According to the New York Times, Milan prosecutor Laura Pedio has accused design duo, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, of tax evasion when they sold their brands Dolce & Gabbana and D&G to Gado, a Luxembourg based holding company. The Italian financial police believed that Gado is a dummy company established by the two designers to avoid higher corporate taxes in Italy. This is a clear case of tax evasion because they set up a dummy company overseas while the firm operated in Italy. The two designers, together with seven other officials, will be facing criminal charges.  If convicted, they could face up to seven years in prison.

If you remember, in 2009 the BOY claimed that Dolce and Gabbana were responsible for putting him on the front row of their Milan fashion show. If this were true, I guess now we know what is their common denominator. The three of them are all scam artists!

COO said: Remove All Her Ads?

Is it true that the actress featured in the Allergic to Make-Up and ENGLISH and Who Are You? posts was fired as the endorser of a real estate company? According to one reader, she told management that she is the only reason why the company is doing well in the market. When the child of the owner (COO) found out about this, he instructed the top management to remove all her ads and replace her. Is this why the new endorser of the company now is another actress from a competing network?

If you have not identified the lead actress in yesterday's Who Are You? story, then I suggest you find out the answer first before reading today's post. This was emailed to me by one of my former students and I thought of sharing it with you.

When the hunky boyfriend of this actress was confined in the hospital, she was there regularly to visit him. She was terribly bothered by the sight of the good looking nurses in that particular section. She was also irritated that they all spoke to her in English.

Being the possessive and insecure girlfriend, she called for the head nurse (supervisor) and asked her as to why all the nurses are wearing make-up? She added further if this is because they know that many celebrities will be visiting her boyfriend. She also complained that the nurses were talking to her in English in spite that she was speaking to them in Filipino.

After listening to her, the head nurse politely explained to her that is the standard operating procedure of the hospital, specially for nurses assigned in the VIP section. They are all encouraged to wear make-up to look their best and to speak in English as much as possible. She blushed after hearing this. She held her breath for a while and just uttered, "OK!"

Who Are You?

On a domestic flight back to Manila, this popular movie and television actress went on the plane and occupied one of the seats in the business class section. The flight attendant upon noticing a passenger occupying a supposedly vacant seat, approached the actress, and politely asked her to present her boarding pass. The actress sat still, pretended not to hear anything and raised one of her eyebrows. After a few minutes, the same attendant walked up to her and requested for her boarding pass again. This time around, she stood up, gathered her things and moved over to another seat in the business class section by the bulkhead area. The attendant followed the actress to her seat and insisted on seeing the boarding pass. The actress looking very upset, stared at the attendant, and asked, "hindi mo ba ako nakikilala?" The attendant smiled back and responded in a very coy manner, "sino po ba sila?" Shocked with what she heard, the actress stood up and moved hurriedly to the economy section to find her assigned seat.

This popular actress has been part of several soap operas. She is one of the stars of a giant network. Do you know who is she?

Kudos to You!

I was saddened when I read this comment that one of our readers left after reading one of the stories. She wrote:
"Haay, this blind item hit so close to home. Yep, been there, done that. :(

The mom of my daughter's classmate had the gall to go after my hubby. This is a blind item in its own right, since she is a commercial model. She's got tons of endorsements. Her hubby is a businessman as well, but is rumored to be gay.

I sooo wanted to get back at her, but I sure do know that it takes two to tango, and knowing my hubby's track record, she is not the only one to blame. And I refuse to destroy another family, the way she attempted to destroy mine. Besides, I think she has much to fear with the news of CS coming out with an expose.

Ok, I digress."
My message to this reader:

I admire you for bravely posting your comment. I know what you went through was very painful. My heart goes to women like you who have to endure such tragedies in life. I am happy that you can now talk about it freely because this means that you have overcome the test. KUDOS to you! We are all proud of you.

My best girl friend also has a similar story to tell. Her traumatic story with her former husband is one for the books. I will share it with you one of these days. As her best friend, I try my best to support her in all of her decisions. She has two little beautiful daughters and it is sad that they have to grow up without a father.

All That Glitters is Not Gold

Last December 2009, fifteen days before Christmas, my credit card was stolen from my wallet without my knowledge at a party. I only noticed that it was missing the following evening. When I called the customer service hotline, I could not believe that the thief was able to charge transactions amounting to more than 400,000 Php in a matter of eight hours (11 am to 8 pm). His purchases included several bags from Louis Vuitton, MacBook from the Apple Store, appliances from SM Department Store and many more. I  requested my lawyer to write letters to the bank disputing these transactions because I did not even receive a notice in spite of the irregular transactions. I only got the bank's attention seven months later when I arrived home from Europe. The bank officials had a meeting with me and we were able to resolve the issue.

I was a victim of credit card fraud and I detest credit card scam artists. They should all be arrested and put behind bars for the rest of their lives. I am sure you will understand my position after what I have experienced. I take it very personally!

The funny thing is every time I share this story with friends, they would always say maybe the infamous BOY was present at the party (of course he wasn't). I thought people are all aware of the Cathay Pacific Airways case filed against this BOY for making fraudulent on-line ticket purchases using stolen credit cards. Apparently everyone knows this except for the PR firm of a jewelry company who plans to sign him up for an advertorial. I am not sure about the details but I was scandalized when I heard the news. A PR firm should protect the image of the client's brand and not destroy it. In the jewelry company's official website, there is a pledge to act responsibly. To this PR firm, I suggest you abide by this pledge. Please do your research!

Sometimes, I feel that Filipinos are just so forgiving. Please, let us not tolerate these scam artists. I think the only reason why he has never been arrested is because he has a relative in the military who shares the same last name. Yes, the BOY is trying very hard to project a glittering image, but keep this in mind, "All that glitters is not gold!"

Obsession with Aromatherapy Diffuser Continues

Last Friday, I bought a set of aromatherapy diffuser from Mia Maison. I find the scent too mild so I paced it in the bathroom. For my living room, I needed something stronger so I went to Tarte Tatin earlier to buy a new set. Tarte Tatin is a children's apparel store located on the third level of Greenbelt 5, across Timezone. Inside the store, you will find a display cabinet filled with aromatherapy diffusers that are priced very reasonably. Thanks to S.M. for the shopping tip.
