What an ignorant comment. I'd rather be poor and mentally healthy rather than be wealthy and mentally unstable. The mental struggle is painful for the person and also for his family and friends.

Bipolar disorder is due to chemical imbalance. Stress can compound it but it is not caused by the environment. It is a disease. My friend had it. It led to divorce. She lost a very high paying job in Wall Street and ended up working for minimum wage (when she was well and could work). Then she couldn’t hold even that job. It is tragic.
