  1. One reason: Barbie is simply not Oscar-worthy.

It's a fun movie yes, but not epic and profound like the others.
And could we all pause and recall how much they spent on marketing? It's really just because of pure marketing.

    1. Tbf, its really deserve to have an oscar for set design and costume. As for the acting, im not sure since hndi ko pa nman sya napapanood. Nakinig ko lang from others na hndi ganyun kaganda ang kwento dahil theyre trying too much. They tried to put everything in one movie kaya magulo.

    2. Yes. Yes. Yes. I am not a "movie critic" but just an avid movie fan and while Barbie is good, there are other movies that are better. And while watching, I saw margot not Barbie.. ung ibang movie nakakalimutan mo tlga ung actress and see the character instead..

    3. Yep. It’s not. It’s just a “modern” movie fit for the current crowd found on soc meds.

    1. Yes kaya na nominate si America. Tumatal tlaga acting nya doon sa movie

    2. You know the movie Barbie was nominated for Best Picture right? The statement is about his disappointment with the director and the lead actress we’re snubbed, not even nominated.

      Delete
    3. It was Ken that stood out in this movie for me. Ryan Gosling was the star of Barbie in my opinion

      Delete
    4. Totoo, si America talaga nagdala especially yung monologue nya.. Any blonde, white actress could do the Barbie role. Produced by Margot din kasi Tsaka yung punchlines nung movie, so-so lang.

Its too much to ask for something that really doesnt deserving in the first place.

  4. Hype lang naman ung movie na barbie

Barbie is a movie, not a film. The Oscars are awards for films.

I’ve always thought they’re interchangeable, just that film is an older term.

      Delete
    2. 2:50 Synonyms naman sila but the word film has a connotation of being high quality. For example, Enteng Kabisote = movie, Muro Ami = film.

      Delete
  6. ang pangit naman if ma-nominate or manalo sila Margot and/or Greta ng dahil lang "women" sila and not because of merit. Parang paawa award lang ganun?

    1. Unfortunately, ganyan sa Hollyweird ngayon. Pati dito, gustong gayahin ng mga Pinoy

      Delete

      Delete
    3. 12:51 depende kasi kung may depth yung acting. Some people kasi complain na kesyo bakit walang nominated na person of color, o bakit puro male and white directors lang. They don't focus on the qualifications anymore, rather they want every category represented just for the sake of.

      Delete
    4. 12:51 that's because it was never an issue if the award is given to a MAN. And also, Barbie may not be Oscar-worthy, but individual acting is. Gets mo ba?

      Delete
    5. 2:49 true! Hollywood is now being forced by these woke people to give awards sa mga non-caucasian/male just to say na hindi sila nangdi-discriminate and that they're being fair.... parang wala na tuloy halaga yung award if you're a POC tapos binigyan ka ng award dahil sa sa color of skin mo or gender/gender preference

  7. Barbie is a fun movie but not oscar worthy sa best actress category and director

Nominated naman sila as deserving naman sa iba like make up design dun talaga but as a whole waley sila sa iba ok na yan laki naman ng kita nila

  8. Barbie did so much for the industry. Daming binuhay ng Barbie but I now agree that movie was crap. Like what the hell?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Bat may pa statement? Kung d nmn tlg deserve manominate just because box office hit eh. Masyadong paimportante, or napressure sa mga pawoke.

  10. Barbie is a good movie. I enjoyed it but Margot’s acting is not that great compared to the other nominees

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ryan naman hindi naman pang Oscars ang Barbie, just be grateful it was a mega hit worldwide.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Tumahimik na lang sana sya kasi sya nga nagtataka bakit sya nanominate for portraying a plastic doll eh.

  13. Ryan ikaw ba pinanood mo ung movie? Kasi ang hirap nya tapusin. Tlgang inantok ako.

    1. Hahahahah true. I literally tried watching Barbie 5 times. And in all of those, nakatulog talaga ako. Promise.

    2. Totoo. Na curious lang ako pero boring sya to the point na gusto mo i fast forward pero nakalimutan ko nasa sinehan pala ako

  14. Barbie is all hype. It’s just a regular movie. For entertainment purposes lang. it’s not worthy of an Oscars nomination for sure.

    ReplyDelete

      Delete
    2. Magaling na actor talaga si Barry!

    3. Controversial scene, yes. Oscar-worthy acting, probably not.

Sakit nyan sa ego for sure.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Girl, that's not the definition of women empowerment. Just because woman ka dapat nominated ka na. You have to be worthy of it. Same lang din sa workplace. You should be promoted to a manager not because you're a woman but because you're competent.

      Delete
  17. Just because nag box office ang movie eh Oscar worthy na yan.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I watched it, and I’m not impressed. Didn’t even bother to finish it. So, The Oscars agrees witn me, and vice versa.😆

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ryan made me root for Ken more during the movie. Margot's portrayal was forgettable. So I'm glad Ryan is nominated. Just because they're women doesn't mean they should be considered. It all comes down to talent and Ryan has all of it!!!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  21. I like Greta Gerwig’s other works, but Barbie is just not all that. Na hype lang masyado but it’s good enough having huge commercial success.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Although nag enjoy ako sa Barbie movie, but for me, it's not Oscar-worthy. Okay na yung na recognize sila sa Golden globes but sa best actress and director sa oscar? Nah...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree. the movie was good and holds the box office record for 2023 but not even closer to the Academy's standards for seizing key nominations.

However, Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor weren't bad at all despite a tough selection process by the committee.

      Delete
  23. buti nga nominated ka pero gusto mo lahat kayo isama sa lista.leo is more deserving than him pero wala lang marinig na reklamo.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Tama naman sinabi nya Barbie won't be here without Greta and Margot -- hence they were nominated for Best Picture which is credited to Margot as producer and Greta as Director.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Admittedly it is an important piece of work (female director, talks about the patriarchy in society) and they all worked hard on it. Kaya lang it's a competitive field plus traditionally comedies don't fare well sa Oscars. Usually mga Oscar bait mga historical dramas.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Uso rin pala sa Hollywood ang sourgraping

    ReplyDelete

  28. We watched Barbie. Nakatulog ako.

  29. The movie was a crap

It was fun to see because of the visuals, pero it's a pain to watch. Di ko talaga matapos-tapos itong Barbie, walang katuturan.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ang labanan 'Best Actress', as in 'Best' nga eh.

There's nothing deep and spectacular about her acting. She was being gorgeous Margot, and the viewers could still easily see her in the character.

Unlike the other actresses na nagiging ibang tao, nagiging sila ung character. Parang may sapi pag-roll ng camera.

    That movie is 💯 marketing.

  35. Naki-in lang mga tao magdamit as Barbie kaya madami nanood. Para may mai-post sa socmed. Yes ganun kadami pampam ngayon.

    ReplyDelete
  36. sakin lang to ah... di ako nag enjoy sa barbie. greta's lady bird and little women were her stronger works imo

  37. Bakit naman masasali ang Barbie sa Oscar? My goodness gracious naman. Ang drama nila!
