John Lloyd Cruz, John Arcilla, and JM de Guzman were among the nominees for the 34th Film Academy of the Philippines' Luna Awards, which were announced Monday.

The historical biopic "Heneral Luna" topped all film nominations with 11, including Best Picture and a nod for director Jerrold Tarog.

Mario Cornejo's "Apocalypse Child," which dominated last year's QC International Film Festival, earned nine nominations -- including Best Director for Cornejo -- while ABS-CBN's production outfit Star Cinema took five of the nine spots for Best Picture.

"The Breakup Playlist," "Crazy Beautiful You," and "The Love Affair" were all nominated for the top award alongside "Kid Kulafu" and "That Thing Called Tadhana" -- films Star Cinema distributed last year.

  1. HENERAL LUNA deserves to sweep the awards ♡ Fine. Kahit di sweep. But they deserve to win at least 3. And give them Best Picture, please!

  6. JM may be out of picture right now, but he's still getting nominations for an acting award. Hope this guy lays off the vices and keeps away from people who could have supported him in his full recovery. Not tempting him by doing the very things that brought him trouble in the first place. Moreover, with his talent and potential, he must consciously sort himself out.

    2. I agree. Sa post-jlc/piolo/coco/dennis generation, si jm lang talaga pag-asa ng pinoy cinema. Well, im sure may iiimprove pa ung ibang guys, pero one of a kind si jm sa actors in their 20s.

  15. Dennis Trillo dapat and best actor. Felix Manalo is not really an interesting movie if you are not INC but Dennis managed to make it interesting because of his great acting.
