Repost: No Duterte Press Cons for Now, Says Aide

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte will not hold any press conferences for now, according to his executive assistant.

“Sa ngayon wala munang press con para walang mali,” Christopher “Bong” Go said in an ambush interview here on Friday.

This was to avoid misinterpretation of the incoming President’s statements, said Go.

All interviews and statements of Duterte, he said, would be coursed through the People’s Television (PTV4) network.

“Lahat ng statement idadaan muna sa state-owned station,” he said.

Duterte’s decision came amid heavy criticisms after he issued an appalling statement on journalist killings and justified whistling at a female reporter during a press conference in this city as “freedom of expression.”

    2. How is it sick? Hes entitled to a choice. Bugbog sarado sya sa media lalo na a few days before the election when they released the ad. Wala namang credibility ang media. Might as well take them out from the equation para wala ng negative write ups about him. Its causing divisiveness anyway.

    3. Daming plastic! Nakakaloka! Ang daming nag tawanan at naki biro during the presscon. Maski si Ms.umali hindi nga niya naisip na "nabastos" siya, the situation was chaotic ksi walang sistema. She was asking a question and duterte couldn't see where she was. So nun makita sya ni duterte his reaction was like "oh hi there ms.beautiful" hence the whistle. I honestly feel hindi siya binastos ni duterte and i also think ms.umali can say the same. Jusmio...

She was just being her professional aelf kaya she was able to push through with the interview.

He represents the whole Philippines now. His choice will either make or break this country. When he signed up as a public servant especially as a president, he also signed up to public scurtiny. Yan ang kailangan nyang tanggapin at harapin. Be proud na may negative na sinasabi, meaning, may room pa for improvement. You are not making progress if pambobola lang naririnig mo. Pakiusap.

  8. The whole point to having press conferences with the press corps is to help bridge the gap between the President and the public. It is also one of the means to promote transparency in his governance.

Having a future President "just" release statements for his constituents so as to avoid "communication mistakes" is a unilateral act that should not be allowed to persist. What is next thing the he will refuse? The people's right to question his new policies and presidential decrees? Without the benefit of a dialogue, I'm afraid that we are looking at signs of a "closed and one-sided administration" and a future dictatorship. God help us all.

  23. Duterte better gather his communications and press relations team. He has in his side the very best: Mocha Uson, Arnel Ignacio, Kat de Castro, Even Demata, Kuya Erwin Tol, Senyora Santibanez! They are the pillars of truth, discernment and unbiased journalism as heralded by the 16 M Filipino people. Theirs are the only words that make sense. They are the voice of the voiceless. This team is definitely capable of bringing Digong closer to our hearts

Unfortunately, he does not act like a statesman, and he was never a trapo.

He speaks his mind which includes thinking out loud.
It's up to the receiver of the message to understand the intent of Duterte's message and not to twist the actual message.

"It's up to the receiver of the message to understand the intent of Duterte's message and not to twist the actual message." - Haha, as a leader of the country, he should be clear and concise with his statements para hindi mapagod ang kanyang gabinete na tumayong interpreters o apologists niya. Bukambibig nalang nila palagi ang "misquoted", "out of context" at "joke lang" pag nagkakagulo ang tao sa mga lumalabas sa bibig niya.

Journalists are like scribes and pharisees. They ask questions not to seek wisdom but to find words to incriminate. It is best for Pres. Duterte to boycott media. Who owns the media anyway, if not the elite?
As Gen. Powell said, "It is not a duty of a leader to make everybody happy." Pres. Duterte should focus on what he thinks is best for the common good than "pabebe" with the media. He is not an actor, he is a President.

Give this man a chance. He may have a flithy mouth but the service and protection people in Davao receive are world class. Oops!

He may be tackless and his humor might be different than that of your traditional politicians.

Mag research kayo aa nagawa niya. At magandang plano niya para sa bansa. masyado niyo siyang minamaliit sa pagiging tackless niya but he is smarter and a lesser evil than your other politicians.
