Justification is a defense mechanism to protect yourself from experiencing from a more threatening feeling which could be embarrassment, pain, or humiliation. That's very common among victims of abuse and other forms of oppression. But later on, Mariz will realize she didn't deserve it. When her defense won't work anymore, she'll experience those hurt feelings.

I also voted for him but I must admit, situations like this make me cringe. However, I do not regret that I voted for him since like what you said, political will. In order to convince myself not to regret my decision, isipin ko na lang, kung hindi si Duterte, sino? Wala namang none of the above.

And this is why I did not vote for Duterte. His supporters always justify his actions as being innate but what they failed to realize is that man is a creature of habit - no matter how one tries to behave decently there will be slip-ups such as this. And I cannot imagine my country's representative to act like this when he is in a conference with other countries' reps. If it's a consolation, at least hindi intl. press conference ito.
