An Image of Grand Illusion

After a long hiatus, Confused Actor (CA) finally got another break and was granted a role in one of the projects of his network. As with the usual practice, the network held a press conference to introduce the project. Feeling that he was missed by the audience and the reporters, CA gave interviews and expressed a thought that turned off most people who heard what he said.

The project stars a potential lead actress (LA) of the network and Network Talent (NT). LA is considered still new in the business, although she has had ample exposure in most of the shows of the network. LA is quite talented and belongs to a showbiz clan. Meanwhile, NT had reached his peak early in his career, but circumstances seemed to have made his career slowly lose its luster. Still, LA is dependable when it comes to acting.

Completing the lead performers is CA. The project is supposed to be exciting given that it would be the first time that NT and CA will be working with each other. Both NT and CA are talented and explored options other than acting. Moreover, fans used to dote on them, but today, screams have died down. The reality is that most fans have turned to younger actors who are more talented and better looking.

Thus, when CA was overheard saying that the project would definitely be successful because of his presence, people raised their eyebrows a bit. Spontaneously, some of those around looked at each other with a quizzical look. When they saw CA, he was not flashing his usual sheepish grin, which indicated that he was serious with his comment. CA was full of himself and overconfident of his presence in the project.

However, no one dared question CA on his comment and he was allowed to express his grandeur illusions. People were sensitive enough not to bother him so that he would be able to gain his confidence back. After a scandalous incident, which might have possibly resulted from being advised wrongly, CA is still trying to find out if his network would still be kind enough to accept him despite that episode. Lucky for him, he was given this project.

As the series has started airing, the plot is unraveling that LA is indeed in the lead role and CA and NT are her support. The presence of new talents who have their own fans in the episodes are adding interest as well. Given his belief, it might take some time for CA to realize that things are not the same in the network. He’s no longer as hot as he used to be. If the series hits, several factors will be cited as the reason, and it’s not just him being included. Perhaps, CA really needs a good adviser at this point.
