May kilala akong ganyan.
I have several condos in Rockwell and we do have service elevators and rightly so. Staff and maintenance should use another elevator except if they are with the unit owner.
Re the staff meal at Balesin, perhaps the waiter at first refused because these are discounted meals wherein the restaurants don't make money on. So if everyone orders the staff meals then they won't make money anymore.
However, the waiter was an idiot in how he handled it and it shouldn't be called a "yaya's meal"--EVER.
They should just offer employee meals at the resorts cafeteria or none at all.
It's not about being discriminating, the separate elevators for staff and maintenance serves its purpose, since most of them do hard work and are often 'pawisan' and does not smell nice. Imagine being trapped in the elevator with smelly people. Magpakatutoo kayo, you'll also feel offended.
By "staff and maintenance" do you mean those on the building (Rockwell employees) or the unit owners' help staff? I think it's ridiculous - the necessity for segregating/discriminating the help be it for meals, or conveyance (yes, elevators!). Segregation is an archaic, unenlightened concept practiced by those who feel the need to make themselves feel superior or those who are just wilfully ignorant. Quite a shame that it remains a practice of supposedly "modern" companies.
Service lifts are for house transfers, they are and should be bigger to accommodate furniture. But the help and staff should not be limited to using these only!
Girl, even Kris Aquino denounced this prctice and will not invest in condos like that!
- baklang maraming property outside the Philippines.
Better be stuck in an elevator with these hard working people na amoy pawis pero galing sa sariling sikap ang kinikita than those good smelling corrupt politicians and tax evaders businessmen.
Sus 2:37 hiyang-hiya naman kami sa amoy mo. Iba ang service elevator sa helpers are not allowed on this elevator. What is in discrimination that you don't understand? And by the way, you must not be that rich because very rich people don't feel too high and proud about themselves.
This!!! Very true. I know someone na ganyan. Nagpapa hatid pa ng food sa room. Pero ilang months na wala sahod ang kasambahay nya, pati pang kape di man lang i provide.
Ok lang may service elevator for the staff or maintenance, kasi minsan yung ginagamit nila panglinis at etc. para hndi abala, mas mabilis pa. Pero para ayaw makasabay dahil, pawisan sila at mabaho. Purely discrimination yun.
ok lang sana kung free food sine serve nila sa yayas. they can discriminate them all they want.pano kung may naipon si yay a at gusto magsplurge? why can't they order what they like. and pano kung gusto itreat ng amo si yay a ng quality food
R u crazy? Employee's meal or whats so ever. PAREPAREHO LANG TAYONG TAO. BUTI KUNG DUN KA SA BALESIN NAGWOWORK PWD MONG ORDERIN ANG EMPLOYEE'S MEAL. ANG KASO KAHIT IKAW AY ISANG YAYA U CANT EAT OR DO WHATEVER U WANT. UTAK TALAGA NG MGA PINOY.
What the hell is wrong with you 12:20?! Employee's Meal is given by the Employer!
The place is so overrated!
If you're ok to label nanay belen's meal as yaya's meal eh di ok din ba i label ang mga menus sa restaurants into following categories: middle class meal, upper middle class meal, lower middle class meal, poor's meal, rich meal etc hello mag isip isip nga!
I think the waiter didn't handle it right. In some point helpful naman ung meal for yaya. Yaya's meal means the meal For them are discounted and useful only for those helper or employee. Is iust that the waiter didn't explain it right and sounds verg rude.
Anon 12:20 naiintindihan mo ba sinasabi mo? A meal is a meal, don't start classifying what meal a person can eat.. Jusko that is so century ago.. Kalokang mentalidad!
Di yun ang topic Anon 1221 and 1239!
Social climber kagad? Upper class lng pwede magyaya?
I'm glad she's treating their nanny well. Consunji's are millionaire, billionaire's. Consunji Construction. Recently Connor's grandfather is one of Forbe's millionaires in the whole world, pang 100+ ata, d ko sure what exact ranking. Maggie married the bankable person, they're in love and well nman looking at their pics. May they return their blessings well.
In fairness, may point si Maggie dito! Way to go! Dapat tlga ipaglaban yan. Thats downright degrading and discrimnating! Sheeesh!
grabe naman yon. indeed very discriminating. i really dont have any idea how big or grand this place is pero anyone deserves naman to eat what they want as long as they can pay for it or paid for them. grabe tlga ito.
I think he/she was saying na problema ng mga mayayaman na kaparehas nila ng kakainin ang mga kakainin ng yaya nila kaya nagrequest sila na magkaroon ng yaya's meal.
What if... U order in a fabulous restaurant somewhere in Europe, then the waiter would say, oh sorry u can't order that, here's a menu for 3rd world countries. I wonder how the matapobre pinoys wud feel?
I just feel sad whenever we discriminate people like that, like ung ngyari din sa isang high end condo na indi pwede sumakay ng elevator ung mga helpers. Meron separate stairs or elevator for them. Tsk tsk tsk!
Hello! Khit nga sa maid eh, dapat hndi ganyan treat natin. Kasi nagaalaga ng anak natin, prepare ng food natin, treat them well.
The staff meal (yaya, driver) really does exist so that you don't pay fully for the headcount of the help -- but is purely optional.
Mali lang siguro pagkakasabi ng waiter. Pwede naman syang mag offer din ng adobo meal off the menu na hindi value meal for the staff. Lalo na kung exclusive resort, dapat may common spiel ang mga staff for such incidences. Lalo na at customer service ang offer nila as the resort's restaurant.
Anon 12:34 is right they should have spiels! Of course you will choose a cheaper option. Balesin should invest more on pool of people they hire if they want to achieve the highend exclusivity chu chu nila.
If pupunta ka dyan na may dalang helper, it should follow that you can afford to pay for your helpers' meals.
Anon 1:34 There's no such average member in Balesin club... They cater to Alist people. Talk about not wanting to pay more for house help food yet can afford a -3.2 Million Pesos membership ? Tagging and pleasantries aside, from one way to another, be it a budget meal or "yaya meal" , I find it way too hypocritical. Tsk, tsk.... Oh yes, you also have to pay 100 Thousand Pesos monthly for the "club dues"....
Social climber agad? Hindi ba pwedeng may friend ka na member tapos you were invited lang? Or lets exclude balesin. Kahit na sa high end hotel ka or out of country are you willing to pay full meal of your yaya during yout whole stay??
Yes social climber haha...i didnt say na pag may yaya e social climber... i mean going there at balesin and tipirin ang food, para msabi lng nkapunta sa balesin thats what i meant of being social climber, might as well dont bring your yaya nlang
Agree! This is the same as not letting helpers and drivers ride the same elevator in condo buildings. We trust these people with our lives, they take care of us and our loved ones, there should be no need to discriminate.
Totally agree with you...nag work ako sa Asian country for few years i called my boss Mr. Or sir but lumipat kami sa Europe then called my boss sir/Mr and he told me just use his first name at pag punta sya sa canteen he will ask me if I want tea or coffee...
E ano naman kung yaya lang sila? E kung may pambayad naman sila to afford the meal. Very discriminating ito.
That is so nice of Maggie. Even if she has married into an extremely wealthy family she has remained compassionate. The Consunjis are in the Forbes Mag top rich in Asia. Check it out. Anyway, what is appalling is that they have named the meal, Yaya meal. If it has been requested by club members, couldn't management have given it a more humanizing and appealing name. How about Mary Poppins meal, oh wait, it's a licensed name. On the other hand, if families can afford Balesin, surely the cost of a regular meal for their help who not only make their lives so much easier but also is like a second mother to their kids, surely should just be peanuts for them. An imported glossy fashion mag is probably more expensive than this regular meal. These mags just get dumped in the trash, a good meal that nourishes the person that cares for one's children should be worth it.
Thats not right! BAYAD NMN YAN WHEN THEY ENTER THE RESORT. SO WHICH MEANS KAYA NG AMO I-TREAT UN YAYA. AT KAYANG PAKAININ SA RESORT. ANG DAMING KAEK-EKKAN NG BALESIN NA ITO. KAHIT BA SABIHIN NA EXCLUSIVE YAN RESORT NA YAN. BWISIT.
ok lang kung hindi sila tumatanggap ng cash since nasa island sila..no depository bank and its quite risky kung iipunin nila dun ang money. hard to transport. mainit sa mata ng mga robbers. ang hindi katanggap tanggap eh un yaya's meal..kaloka! lol
Cash differs from goods in terms of risk. Imagine having to deposit huge amounts of cash everyday, kailangan ng armed personnel nyan and it costs money. Siguro dapat nainform yung members about that para prepared naman sila pagpunta dun and to avoid embarrassment of not being able to pay dahil lang wala kang credit card.
So we should treat them well. If you could do it, do it yourself. Ask for their help kapag lang kailangan mo, kaya nga 'Ka-tulong'
for 2 reasons: (1) status symbol yata yung uniform among maids in exclusive subdivisions. kapag naka-uniform ang maid, ibig sabihin the amo is rich enough to be able to afford uniforms for the maid. (2) kahit bilhan niya ng matinong damit yung mga maids niya ayaw gamitin ng maid habang nagta-trabaho habang maid kasi maluluma daw agad. mas gusto gamitin yung matinong damit kapag namamasyal kasama ang pamilya during days off.
di ko alam kung maraming maids ganyan ang thinking. i am just sharing what i heard from a friend.
Hndi naluluma or naubos damit nila dahil ginagamit sa pag work nila, basta yung saturday/sunday khit ano bihis nila, wag tayo makialam. Khitag p shorts pa sya.
Kung members ang nag request ng yayas meal, then they are not rich enough. Mga wannabes lang din sila for them to make sure that their yayas gets to eat something cheaper. These members are so bulok!
Dapat "budget meal" nalang. Not only for the yaya's but for those naman na nagtitipid sa food. Dont give me the reason na kaya nga nakapunta sa balesin kasi mayaman. Just saying.
Or nakapunta dun dahil pinaghandaan... Para maexperience once. Nag ipon talaga.
Yaya meal? haha! We're talking about the same place that displaced a couple's wedding in favor of the owner's friend so not surprising. Kudos to Maggie!
You are so behind the times. That issue has already been tackled to death in several newspapers (print and digital) and no "bumping off" took place. Get your facts straight.
Napaka off ng labelling na yan. Yaya's meal. T*****a nyo balesin. Talagang in my face??? Yun ang kukunin ko at babayaran ng amo, without even stressing what i ate and how much it costs. Grabe kayo!!!!
i think wala din pinagkaiba yung ibang nagmamayaman sa mga Italians..feeling always on the top..just remember my friends experience as a babysitter there..sad :(
Korek ka dyan te ganyan kasi sa mga 1st world yung mga help nila tinuturing talaga nil as equal tsaka professional, kung baga employee talaga dito saten ang tataas ng tingin sa sarili e.
From a completely objective point of view, the problem here is not the policy of the resort but how the staff handled the situation. I believe this is fairly common to resorts/'membership resorts' but basically just an option for the guests who are accompanied by 'employees' - drivers/nurses/yayas etc. Now, not everyone will be willing to pay for the full meal of these employees for various reasons (not necessarily because matapobre sila) e.g. they are third party employees hired for the trip and in the contract employees will have to pay for their own meal or as a courtesy, employer/guest like Maggie will pay for the meal but will not be required to pay in full.
This actually works well when properly explained to guests. Hope you get what I mean. I lerfecrly understand where Maggie is coming from.
The problem is with the staff, coming from someone who works in the hospitality industry, you must always take in consideration that your action and words will reflect the values of your brand. I don't believe it's the intention of the resort to offend the guests including yayas.
Agree!!! Kasi i'm sure madami gusto kumain ng mura. Hehehe
Nagtrabaho ako dati as a personal nurse ng isang mayamang tagaMagallanes Village, yung trato iba talaga, hindi naman masama pero hindi lang kinaya ng ego ko. Nagresign ako after 3 days. Hahahaha. Culture Shock - middle class lang kask ako eh.
A lot of times kasi yayas pay for their own food or yung amo, ayaw gumastos ng mahal dun sa yaya since hindi naman nila kadugo. So yun yung logic nung yayas meal. Same analogy sa hotel rooms: meron silang driver's or maid's quarters which is less cheaper pero for drivers or maids lang. Hindi pwedeng i-avail nung customer mismo. Proper delivery of explanation lang yan siguro.
I wonder how the owners of balesin treat their house help and yayas.. Kawawa Mga cheme-aa.. Only Nora Aunor broke the barrier but after her wala na..dito sa US, people are shotuting discrimination yet ang mga pinoy enjoy the luxury of going to exclusive resorts as long as you have the money...The entertainment industry is flooded with African American, Asian actors and actresses..
wow. grabe naman yung ganun. nakakaloka. discrimination! tao din naman yun ah. about credit card naman, baka ayaw nila mag-accept ng cash di dahil sa gusto nila credit card owners lang maka-afford or maka-kain dun. baka kasi para di sila magkaroon ng too much money sa island para iwas nakaw. malaki-laki din kita sa food dun kasi dami guests plus mahal ang food.
Sana lahat ng katulong or yaya can work with Kris Aquino dahil travel sila ng travel plus the fact they can eat whatever they want. May the Almighty God humble these people who discriminate kasambahay.
Proven yan naghahanap sila tapos pag nag buffet sobrang sayang. So dapat ang ginawa ng Balesin ginawan ng paraan na ibuong and say Ma'am bale value meal yan do you want us to make the same ukam for you ng bigger portion. While I get Maggie's side I can't help but feel na blown out of proportion lang din.
true. i have a yaya before na ayaw nya ng "kakaibang food" like japanese or indian or korean cuisine..gusto nya isda or adobo or gulay lang kase dun sya sanay.
I work as an aupair, it means cultural exchange.. Yung mga host family dito tinitreat ka talaga as a family.. sinasama sa mga out the country trips, outings and activities at kumakain sa restaurants..
Most of their staff are having their ojt there. For me it is alright to have meals that are not costly but they should't put a label on it. About the cc issue, it will take time to have the money earned deposited to a bank 'coz the bank nearest the island is not the one used by the company. and it is safer I guess to limit the use of money within the island.
I think Maggie and a lot of people are overreacting here. When I first read about this I thought yaya wanted to order something from regular menu but was refused by the waiter. What happened naman pala is yaya ordered something from employee meals and Maggie's mom was refused the same thing. I agree with most- it's just probably the waiter's positioning when he explained it. He could've told them that of they both want the same meal they can just BOTH order from the regular menu
Fact is yayas CAN order from the regular menu if their employers can afford to do so.
Such meals are never printed nor never offered. It should be discreetly and by customer request only... And it should never be called a yayas meal or other brand. To explain my reaction, in some truly well off families, especially yung naka tira sa forbes park, some of them really treats their househelp as employees, meaning theyre on an 8hr per shift rotating sched and receiving a minimum or above wage at hindi lang yaya wage... And if this were a big entourage, understandable... However, the resort management should never impose nor restrict about this yaya meals, it should never even been mentioned.. Like what i said dapat by customer request discreetly...
there's such a thing as "kiddie meal" kasi mas maliit ang servings, pero now lang ako nakarining ng "Yaya's meal", so nabisto tuloy sila na pag mga househelps ang kakain mas iba ang ingredients ang ginagamit, may class A/B pala ang pagluto nila, kung kunwari steak ang inorder ng amo, and yun din ang inorder ni yaya ang ibibigay nila porkchop lang, ganun ba yun?
hay naku that's the big difference talaga when you live in a different country like here in Australia , di uso ang yaya . Even rich people don't have nannies and they look after their own kids. Even cleaners , janitors are all treated equally , never discriminated because ppl aren't trrested like sh*t for their occupation. Kahit nga factory workers earns as much as a nurse .. Point is , you can walk around here dress as you like , wear bikini at the beach even if you're fat and will never be judged. Thankful to be living in a country where I feel respected have equal rights . Rather than live in a place where all people do all day is spread rumours , discriminate , and judge each other !
MAggie clariefied that Yayas can actually order what they want. The Yayas meal is for those guests who are not willing to pay expensive meals for their yayas. What is so wrong here is that,in their effort to please their guests, it is giving them the option to discriminate. Balesin should remove the Yayas Meal from their options.
A topnotch customer service is nothing if it breeds discrimination.
I think the label was unnecessary. Pwd naman nila ilagay sa menu lahat. If guests have yayas with them, they can opt to choose the cheaper food from the menu or if they dont mind then have them order regular food for the help. No need to draw a line.
They shouldn't have called it "yaya meal"... sana pinaganda man lang nila and make it sound "special" and "exclusive" kay Ate. Hire a marketing manager.. siguro may maiisip silang creative way jan without offending anyone.
Anon 11:52... you mean "Separate but Equal"? Kahit tawagin mo pang "Majesty Meal" yan or kung anong flowery words, it still served only to yayas. That is still degrading my dear.
Why discriminate people regardless of who they are? We all are the same. Dapat nga mas maging mabuti ang treatment sa mga helpers since they do make their employer's lives easier.
Ang sad naman. :(
ReplyDeleteYung ibang pinoy napaka elitista lang. I'm sure kung sa DH sa HK ginawa to, baka sumabog na ang internet sa galit ng mga Pinoy. Damn Hypocrites!!!!
DeleteAgree with you 12.29...p*thetic rules..hypocrite owner and management
DeleteYun nga ang nangyari anon 12:50. Maggie's mom ordered the same meal that Nanay Belen did and was told that it's a yaya's meal so di puede.
Deletei'm with her on this. I don't understand why some pinoys discriminate househelps that way when this is a third world country!
ReplyDeleteMay kilala akong ganyan.

DeleteReminds me of that condo na may elevator segregation sa helpers. This made cringe to think mga Ayalas and Sy's don't treat their helpers this way.
DeleteI have several condos in Rockwell and we do have service elevators and rightly so. Staff and maintenance should use another elevator except if they are with the unit owner.
DeleteRe the staff meal at Balesin, perhaps the waiter at first refused because these are discounted meals wherein the restaurants don't make money on.
Deleteno. we will not br offended. We are civilized enough.
DeleteBy "staff and maintenance" do you mean those on the building (Rockwell employees) or the unit owners' help staff?
DeleteI think it's ridiculous - the necessity for segregating/discriminating the help be it for meals, or conveyance (yes, elevators!). Segregation is an archaic, unenlightened concept practiced by those who feel the need to make themselves feel superior or those who are just wilfully ignorant. Quite a shame that it remains a practice of supposedly "modern" companies.
DeleteWeeeeh hindi nga, ikaw ba always smelling nice Anon as in at all times 2:37?
DeletePark Avenue apartments in NYC's upper east side do not have service lifts!!! And the residents are gazillionaires instead of
Deletewanna-bes.
Service lifts are for house transfers, they are and should be bigger to accommodate furniture. But the help and staff should not be limited to using these only!
DeleteGirl, even Kris Aquino denounced this prctice and will not invest in condos like that!
- baklang maraming property outside the Philippines.
Sus! OA! Mga hipokrito!!!
DeleteNo. I will not be offended. The smell of sweat brought about by hard work is not offensive to me.
DeleteBetter be stuck in an elevator with these hard working people na amoy pawis pero galing sa sariling sikap ang kinikita than those good smelling corrupt politicians and tax evaders businessmen.
Iba ang service elevator sa helpers are not allowed on this elevator. What is in discrimination that you don't understand? And by the way, you must not be that rich because very rich people don't feel too high and proud about themselves.
DeleteThis!!! Very true. I know someone na ganyan. Nagpapa hatid pa ng food sa room. Pero ilang months na wala sahod ang kasambahay nya, pati pang kape di man lang i provide.
DeleteOnly those who pretends to be rich, social climbers and nouveau riche will get offended.
DeleteOk lang may service elevator for the staff or maintenance, kasi minsan yung ginagamit nila panglinis at etc. para hndi abala, mas mabilis pa. Pero para ayaw makasabay dahil, pawisan sila at mabaho. Purely discrimination yun.
DeleteYaya meals are okay... Dapat palitan lang label like.. Employee's meal... Okay lang yun.
ReplyDeleteAre you serious? W. T. F.
DeleteThere should be no labels! What the hell is wrong with you???
DeleteI don't think it is okay.
Deleteok lang sana kung free food sine serve nila sa yayas. they can discriminate them all they want.pano kung may naipon si yay a at gusto magsplurge? why can't they order what they like. and pano kung gusto itreat ng amo si yay a ng quality food
DeleteR u crazy? Employee's meal or whats so ever. PAREPAREHO LANG TAYONG TAO. BUTI KUNG DUN KA SA BALESIN NAGWOWORK PWD MONG ORDERIN ANG EMPLOYEE'S MEAL. ANG KASO KAHIT IKAW AY ISANG YAYA U CANT EAT OR DO WHATEVER U WANT.
DeleteWhat the hell is wrong with you 12:20?! Employee's Meal is given by the Employer!
The place is so overrated!
DeleteWTF 12.20 are you out of your mind??seriously you just showed how pathetic your atittude...
DeleteCrew meal?
Serioso??????? Tang*****ng utak yan!
DeleteAnong okay ka dyan anon 12:20. Sama mo.
DeleteNo label at all. Period
DeleteBakit kasi may ganon pa?!!! Nakapunta nga sa balesin, naisama ang yaya...mahal pamasahe at accomodation tapos walang pampakain? Anuvey????
DeleteIf you're ok to label nanay belen's meal as yaya's meal eh di ok din ba i label ang mga menus sa restaurants into following categories: middle class meal, upper middle class meal, lower middle class meal, poor's meal, rich meal etc hello mag isip isip nga!
DeleteYou live in a third world country. Get the fck over yourself.
DeleteI think the waiter didn't handle it right. In some point helpful naman ung meal for yaya. Yaya's meal means the meal
DeleteFor them are discounted and useful only for those helper or employee. Is iust that the waiter didn't explain it right and sounds verg rude.
DeleteAnon 12:20 naiintindihan mo ba sinasabi mo? A meal is a meal, don't start classifying what meal a person can eat.. Jusko that is so century ago.. Kalokang mentalidad!
DeleteJust call it Value Meal and make it available to anyone who want it including employers
DeleteThink before u post nman kasi anon. :P
Money is not a problem for Maggie kasi.
DeleteDi yun ang topic Anon 1221 and 1239!
Social climber kagad? Upper class lng pwede magyaya?
DeleteMy friend's yaya has 20k for her monthly salary. That's above minimum. Hahaha
DeleteThat is so not good.. Lets be fairl its already 2015 lets start a better life..
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she's treating their nanny well.
ReplyDeleteIn fairness, may point si Maggie dito! Way to go! Dapat tlga ipaglaban yan. Thats downright degrading and discrimnating! Sheeesh!
ReplyDeletegrabe naman yon. indeed very discriminating. i really dont have any idea how big or grand this place is pero anyone deserves naman to eat what they want as long as they can pay for it or paid for them. grabe tlga ito.
ReplyDeleterich people's problem
ReplyDeleteHuh? Labo mo
ReplyDeleteWhat if... U order in a fabulous restaurant somewhere in Europe, then the waiter would say, oh sorry u can't order that, here's a menu for 3rd world countries. I wonder how the matapobre pinoys wud feel?
ReplyDeleteI just feel sad whenever we discriminate people like that, like ung ngyari din sa isang high end condo na indi pwede sumakay ng elevator ung mga helpers. Meron separate stairs or elevator for them. Tsk tsk tsk!
true..feeling rich kase yung iba..
DeleteTruth!!!!
DeleteTama
DeletePerfect example ,
DeleteTumapak, check na malaki!
DeleteI feel so bad about this. Sasabihin ko to sa boss ko. Member kasi sya dito.
ReplyDeleteTama!
DeleteDiscrimination!
Hello! Khit nga sa maid eh, dapat hndi ganyan treat natin. Kasi nagaalaga ng anak natin, prepare ng food natin, treat them well.
Deletemaggies hubby is a billionaire. good for her na di nya inaapi yayas nya
DeleteThe staff meal (yaya, driver) really does exist so that you don't pay fully for the headcount of the help -- but is purely optional.
ReplyDeleteMali lang siguro pagkakasabi ng waiter. Pwede naman syang mag offer din ng adobo meal off the menu na hindi value meal for the staff. Lalo na kung exclusive resort, dapat may common spiel ang mga staff for such incidences. Lalo na at customer service ang offer nila as the resort's restaurant.
Hello! Its the same thing. Food is food. Kayang bayaran ng amo niya yung kakainin niya.
DeleteAnon 12:34 is right they should have spiels! Of course you will choose a cheaper option. Balesin should invest more on pool of people they hire if they want to achieve the highend exclusivity chu chu nila.
You might wanna try it."
DeleteHindi naman yung WAG agad. Again, staff meals are optional.
If pupunta ka dyan na may dalang helper, it should follow that you can afford to pay for your helpers' meals.
DeleteAnon 1:34 There's no such average member in Balesin club... Oh yes, you also have to pay 100 Thousand Pesos monthly for the "club dues".... š²
DeleteKorek
DeleteSocial climber agad? Hindi ba pwedeng may friend ka na member tapos you were invited lang? Or lets exclude balesin. Kahit na sa high end hotel ka or out of country are you willing to pay full meal of your yaya during yout whole stay??
DeleteYes social climber haha...i didnt say na pag may yaya e social climber... i mean going there at balesin and tipirin ang food, para msabi lng nkapunta sa balesin thats what i meant of being social climber, might as well dont bring your yaya nlang
DeleteAgree! This is the same as not letting helpers and drivers ride the same elevator in condo buildings. We trust these people with our lives, they take care of us and our loved ones, there should be no need to discriminate.
ReplyDeleteI think Asia is the biggest racist especially with it comes to employment.
ReplyDeleteThis!
Deletein Europe too :(
DeleteAgree with you 12:36 am!!
DeleteAsia is the biggest racist especially when it comes to employment!!!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you...nag work ako sa Asian country for few years i called my boss Mr. Or sir but lumipat kami sa Europe then called my boss sir/Mr and he told me just use his first name
Deleteat pag punta sya sa canteen he will ask me if I want tea or coffee...
would it kill the amo if they have the same meal as the yaya? geez
ReplyDeleteE ano naman kung yaya lang sila? E kung may pambayad naman sila to afford the meal. Very discriminating ito.
DeleteThat is so nice of Maggie.
ReplyDeleteNot just in Asia. In whole world ranking they're 100+. Don't know the specific rank but it was 100+. I've read it too.
DeleteSo slavery isn't still resolved in humanity?
ReplyDeleteI thought this concept has long been banished.
Well played Balesin. We can't eat without cards, too.
Thats not right! BAYAD NMN YAN WHEN THEY ENTER THE RESORT. SO WHICH MEANS KAYA NG AMO I-TREAT UN YAYA. AT KAYANG PAKAININ SA RESORT. ANG DAMING KAEK-EKKAN NG BALESIN NA ITO. KAHIT BA SABIHIN NA EXCLUSIVE YAN RESORT NA YAN. BWISIT.
ReplyDeletePalagay ko d lng nmn sa Balesin ganito it only goes to show na may mga tao paring matapobre at mapagmataas. Bilog ang mundo d parating nasa taas
ReplyDeleteThey do it in some exclusive clubs. But they don't use the term yaya's meal.
ReplyDelete-desperadang yaya
ok lang kung hindi sila tumatanggap ng cash since nasa island sila..no depository bank and its quite risky kung iipunin nila dun ang money. hard to transport. mainit sa mata ng mga robbers. ang hindi katanggap tanggap eh un yaya's meal..kaloka! lol
ReplyDeleteAte, so how about their food supplies na iluluto? They have to grow it there ba?
DeleteCash differs from goods in terms of risk.
DeleteI think Anon 1:03 is talking about the transport safety, baka ma hold up. Food is different from money anon 3:12, please think about it.
DeleteHindi Teh...
ReplyDeleteambisyosa..hahah..peace
DeleteInvite mo kami taga fp sa kasal mo
DeleteWow choosy si ati
DeleteCalling members of this resort witdraw your membership for those who believe in equal treatment of mankind.
ReplyDeleteSus! So don't count on it that there will be withdrawals of membership.
ReplyDeleteTama kabayan. Natumbok mo lahat. Sana po eh maunawaan ito ng lahat. Ako bilang isang katulong sa bansang banyaga.
DeleteBasta kami we treat our househelp like famliy. May bonus pa sila at Sundays off.
DeleteNaiyak ako sa post mo.. So true,,
Deleteangels that's better.
DeleteWow! Sana mabankrupt ang Balesin soon.
ReplyDeleteBaldwin only?
DeleteWhy not include those members who support that rule or even suggested it?
Other members asked for this. Balesin complied. That's my theory
ReplyDelete#thirdworld #matrona #problems
#matapobre #laos
Yes. Maggie confirmed it in a succeeding post. Some members ang nagrequest. Balesin complied.
DeleteKung members ang nag request ng yayas meal, then they are not rich enough. Mga wannabes lang din sila for them to make sure that their yayas gets to eat something cheaper. These members are so bulok!
ReplyDeleteWhat the eff!!!
Dapat "budget meal" nalang. Not only for the yaya's but for those naman na nagtitipid sa food. Dont give me the reason na kaya nga nakapunta sa balesin kasi mayaman. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteOr nakapunta dun dahil pinaghandaan... Para maexperience once. Nag ipon talaga.
DeleteYaya meal? haha! We're talking about the same place that displaced a couple's wedding in favor of the owner's friend so not surprising. Kudos to Maggie!
ReplyDeleteexactly
DeleteYou are so behind the times. That issue has already been tackled to death in several newspapers (print and digital) and no "bumping off" took place. Get your facts straight.
Like AFFORDAMEAL? Kasi discrimination ang YAYA MEALS. Parang hampas lupa lang.
ReplyDeleteThis angers me.
ReplyDeleteOnly in the Philippines , Go Maggie , I'm with you on this one. Just hope you treat them the same way in your household.
ReplyDeleteNapaka off ng labelling na yan. Yaya's meal. T*****a nyo balesin. Talagang in my face??? Yun ang kukunin ko at babayaran ng amo, without even stressing what i ate and how much it costs. Grabe kayo!!!!
DeleteNaku may nakita din akong ganyan, naiinis talaga ako, as in gigil ako sa inis.
Wala silang pakialam.
Deletei think wala din pinagkaiba yung ibang nagmamayaman sa mga Italians..feeling always on the top..just remember my friends experience as a babysitter there..sad :(
ReplyDeleteYup! U cant do that here s US... They'll get sued for that... or worse shut down that resto...
DeleteThis is a really sad story coming from a third world country.
ReplyDeleteFrom a completely objective point of view, the problem here is not the policy of the resort but how the staff handled the situation.
ReplyDeleteThis actually works well when properly explained to guests.
Hahahaha.
Ganun tlga. Kaya nga sila ang boss e.
DeleteA lot of times kasi yayas pay for their own food or yung amo, ayaw gumastos ng mahal dun sa yaya since hindi naman nila kadugo. So yun yung logic nung yayas meal. Same analogy sa hotel rooms: meron silang driver's or maid's quarters which is less cheaper pero for drivers or maids lang. Hindi pwedeng i-avail nung customer mismo. Proper delivery of explanation lang yan siguro.
DeleteYou mean less expensive?
DeleteI wonder how the owners of balesin treat their house help and yayas..
ReplyDeletewow. grabe naman yung ganun. nakakaloka. discrimination! tao din naman yun ah. about credit card naman, baka ayaw nila mag-accept ng cash di dahil sa gusto nila credit card owners lang maka-afford or maka-kain dun. baka kasi para di sila magkaroon ng too much money sa island para iwas nakaw. malaki-laki din kita sa food dun kasi dami guests plus mahal ang food.
ReplyDeleteTong Balesin na toh daming NEGATIVE FEEDBACKS.
ReplyDeleteSana lahat ng katulong or yaya can work with Kris Aquino dahil travel sila ng travel plus the fact they can eat whatever they want.
ReplyDeletetrue. i have a yaya before na ayaw nya ng "kakaibang food" like japanese or indian or korean cuisine..gusto nya isda or adobo or gulay lang kase dun sya sanay.
I work as an aupair, it means cultural exchange.. Yung mga host family dito tinitreat ka talaga as a family.. sinasama sa mga out the country trips, outings and activities at kumakain sa restaurants..
ReplyDeleteMost of their staff are having their ojt there. For me it is alright to have meals that are not costly but they should't put a label on it. About the cc issue, it will take time to have the money earned deposited to a bank 'coz the bank nearest the island is not the one used by the company. and it is safer I guess to limit the use of money within the island.
ReplyDeleteI think Maggie and a lot of people are overreacting here.
ReplyDeleteFact is yayas CAN order from the regular menu if their employers can afford to do so.
ReplyDeleteThey should have called it Budget Meals.
ReplyDeleteBALESIN BABOY!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch meals are never printed nor never offered.
ReplyDeletethere's such a thing as "kiddie meal" kasi mas maliit ang servings, pero now lang ako nakarining ng "Yaya's meal", so nabisto tuloy sila na pag mga househelps ang kakain mas iba ang ingredients ang ginagamit, may class A/B pala ang pagluto nila, kung kunwari steak ang inorder ng amo, and yun din ang inorder ni yaya ang ibibigay nila porkchop lang, ganun ba yun?
ReplyDeletehay naku that's the big difference talaga when you live in a different country like here in Australia , di uso ang yaya .
ReplyDeletebalesin is so overrated.
ReplyDeleteFilipinos are one of the most discriminating people in the world. The sad things is they even discriminate against their own race.
ReplyDeleteMAggie clariefied that Yayas can actually order what they want. The Yayas meal is for those guests who are not willing to pay expensive meals for their yayas. What is so wrong here is that,in their effort to please their guests, it is giving them the option to discriminate. Balesin should remove the Yayas Meal from their options.
ReplyDeleteA topnotch customer service is nothing if it breeds discrimination.
+1 8:06 AM!
ReplyDeleteKkakaiba to ah? As far as i know, walang ganyan sa mga five star hotel! Pwe!
My beloved Nanay used to be a househelper.
ReplyDeleteI think the label was unnecessary. Pwd naman nila ilagay sa menu lahat. If guests have yayas with them, they can opt to choose the cheaper food from the menu or if they dont mind then have them order regular food for the help. No need to draw a line.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the management, the club members are the ones who requested for the "yaya meals" to be created.
ReplyDeleteThey shouldn't have called it "yaya meal"... sana pinaganda man lang nila and make it sound "special" and "exclusive" kay Ate. Hire a marketing manager.. siguro may maiisip silang creative way jan without offending anyone.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:52... you mean "Separate but Equal"? Kahit tawagin mo pang "Majesty Meal" yan or kung anong flowery words, it still served only to yayas. That is still degrading my dear.
ReplyDeleteBalesin is managed by Oreta/Ongpin of Alphaland.
ReplyDeleteWhy discriminate people regardless of who they are? We all are the same. Dapat nga mas maging mabuti ang treatment sa mga helpers since they do make their employer's lives easier.
ReplyDeleteIsarado na yan. Tapos
ReplyDeleteBat puto nega news for balesin? Sama siguro ng may ari nito
