    4. Parang slang yan, Anon 1:24.

Nilahat mo kaming mga taga-UP! And no, walang masama sa pagiging tibak.

And for the record, we really are smart. And no, I am not talking about how difficult it is to pass the UPCAT.

      Delete
    7. And here we go generalizing again. Basta mahilug sa anonymous troll account taga UP na?

      Delete

      Delete
    9. 9:54 "...pag nasa loob ka na, mas mahirap lumabas." Isn't it the other way around?

      Delete
    10. Ay mga ateng, what Iska means is lumabas ng naka-sablay. Hahahahaha.

      Delete
    11. Hi Iska!

    12. actually i also have one inspiration picture of that from dubai based designer din.. pero i guess what makes it different from one another is the people who made it.. so it has a pinoy touch.

    13. hmmm... ano kaya ang criteria for judging at nagkakagulo ang mga tao sa design ng schools HAHAHA. enlighten us po.

      Delete
Right? UP is still a good university, it just so happen na nadadrag down ng ilang estudyante. I'm not generalizing, kaya sinabi kong ung IBA. Miriam Defensor Santiago was a UP student, and she is really good.

  11. Maggie, a single person does not reflect the whole institution.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Gosh, almost all of them are bashing SoFA's design. So the 'single person does not reflect the whole institution' bullsh*t does not apply here. I thought they were mature enough to handle the situation, knowing na they're 3rd-4th year students already but I was wrong! Sila pa yung ganyan. Super bitter. Problem with them is they're too entitled so nag expect sila na sila ang mananalo which is mali. Also, the issue started when Cienna Eder ranted online. Saying that its unfair because they had to sell food just to pay the labor and stuff tapos yung ibang competitor nila (SoFA) nag hire ng laborers from a famous contractor. Let's be f*ck*ng serious.

      Delete
    2. Then lets be all serious, if ms maggie is mature enough she would not fight back that way especially using social media. It just show how both of them unprofessionally handle this situation

      Delete

      Delete
    4. It's funny that you are trying to merge the meaning of bashing and criticism. Really, bullshit does not apply in this instance wherein you speculate that all of SoFa's bashers are from UP. I recently visited the Worldbex links to this contest and was amused at the striking contradictions that your statements bear. Professional chefs, journalists, interior designers, and architects criticized or as in your twisted words "bashed" the design. And these people are alumna of different schools (CCA, IHMA, UST, UP, BSU, etc.)

With this statement, I hope you can be serious with your facts too, Anon 9:37am.

      Delete
    5. Isa ako sa nagcomment sa design nila as I see it impractical and dangerous as a dining set-up/area. And I'm not even from UP. =)

      Delete
    6. Not all of the materials they used are from Wilcon plus not orignal design. I dont think they should called DESIGNERS.

    1. Actually the idea's original because it was designed by 5 students not only Maggie. Cinombine lang lahat ng ideas nila. Every detail has a story or relevance to the Cambodia theme.

      Delete
    2. Relevance to the theme lang ba ang criteria for judging ng contest?

  16. The issue came about when one girl from the UP team posted on her Facebook page about her disappointment on the results of the contest. I read her posts, it was very bitter. She pointed out that she and her team mates had to sell stuff just to afford hiring contractors to do their exhibit. She specifically pointed out one team that hired contractors from a known condominium builders and felt that it was unfair, that the judges' decision was based on the finish and not the design. Also, she specifically mentioned na just because artista at elitista ang judges that this team got the upperhand in the competition,

To be honest, coming from a UP student, it was very disappointing how bitter they were to not graciously accept defeat. It is a competition, decision is based on judges' preference and taste. Instead of yapping about it on facebook, she should have contested to the organizers.

The pinterest issue is far from the original reason why this all started. so don't ya'll be quick to judge.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Then she could have just let it pass coz nasa judges na rin naman yun why she won, she does not owe anyone an explanation. I just noticed how mean we can be into dragging the name of the school or the stereotype that a person is like this because he or she is from a school.

Same way that kahit pa ba sabihin natin na kahit gaano ka-mature dapat eh may instances talaga lumalabas na di natin matanggap yung circumstances. We always want to get the upper hand and win in everything, but we can't. And some people resort to sourgraping. But if it just one person, we can be mature enough not to be very quick in saying 'I thought you are supposed to be like this or that because you are from this school."

      Just my two cents.

      Delete
    5. ANON 1:34, hindi pera pera. Bitter lang kasi yung mga ID from UP. Masyado silang nag expect na sila yung winner.

      Delete
Some people get irritated when what they worked hard for gets trampled by "money". Puwede naman sya mag rant, free speech tayo diba?
Maggie shouldn't have made patol, cause you know it'll make this worse. Let the emotions slide.

      Delete
    7. ANON 9:17, In the same way that we can't judge a whole institution based on one person's opinion, you also cannot generalize all the ID students of UP for being bitter and, most of all, expecting that they'll be winners.

Yes winning is a great bonus but nevertheless to design an interior or even an exhibit like this is hard work and it takes a lot of passion and diligence to do something great. These students designed because it is their passion to design, not just to win or to expect a win from a competition.

  17. the one from UP is more doable than Maggie Wilson's work kasi it sticks with The theme which is Philippine Colonial. So medyo Spanish revival with a hint of vintage artistry ang ginawa. Cambodian homes, on the otherhand, really look like a functional nipa hut lang naman kasi ganoon ang culture ng Cambodians.

      Delete
    2. kung pagandahan ang criteria nito, winner sa si Maggie but if relevance sa theme, hindi ba parang over naman yata kasi Resorts at Hotels lang yata ang mukhang ganyan ang interiors in Cambodia.

      Delete
    3. Hahaha. Obviously, wala kayong idea kung ano yung criteria. Relevance sa theme? Hello? Anong doable kayo dyan?

      Delete
    4. So, ano nga ba ang criteria for judging? since mukhang alam mo, ipost mo na dito Anon ^^

      Delete
    5. Doable is related to the practicality of the space, kasi supposedly interior design contest ito di ba? 100% theme lang ba ang breakdown ng rubrics?

      Delete
    6. As I recall, Interior design makes up around 40% of the criteria.

    2. I think the issue here is the theme.

      Delete
    3. Hey Anon 9:47, I find your comment so stupid. :) HAHAH! Have you been to Cambodia? Have you seen Angkor Wat? :) Angkor Wat is surrounded by water so yung design is surrounded ng water yung dining room. God. Babaw ng utak mo.

    6. I think the issue here is the set of rules during the competition. Nabasa ko yung status na yun na shinare ni Ms. Maggie sa profile nya one time (I'm following her on fb and her make-up tutorials). It goes something like this.

May nalalaman ka pang 'BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA'. Ano yang ginagawa mo? Pinagiisipan mo ba yang mga sinasabi mo? Tanungin nga kita sa statement mo, pano mo nahanap yang post nung bata ha? May taga-stalk ka ng profile nila? Kahit public yung profile pero di mo kilala or kaibigan sa fb di mo mababasa yung kung ano man yung pinost nung kinakalaban mong estudyante!

  31. the reason why we, design students, enter design school is for us to understand how to respond on the needs of our client. I mean anyone can decorate a house or even build one ( gaya nung mga construction workers). Pero kami, we apply principles and theories sa mga ginagawa namin. Being in architecture school for three years, siguro naman i can say a few things about this. First, sa design, yes maganda siya. But that's it. Have you seen a dining table sitting on top of a flowing water in some commoner's house? Hindi diba? Kasi kaming mga designers, we discourage such design kasi mahirap i-maintain. Mahirap linisin. Delikado pa siya for people with disability. Plus children. Kasi sa field namin, may tinatawag na universal design. We are designing for all kinds of people. This one medyo meh.

"If you believe on your design, you should fight for it" yan yung natutunan ko today sa pinuntahan kong talk. And maybe, that's the reason why nagreeeact and id from up about this. Kasi kung ako, i definitely wouldn't pick this one. Masyadong flawed yung design.

    1. Oo nga. Kaya may licensure examination right? Para sa safety ng mga clients. Well said po.
