    1. So this story is basically hearsay. Hmm. Still flying with PAL though.

    3. hearsay? eh ayan na nga ang picture 3:48 PM. siguro ikaw yung FA kaya wala kang choice but to fly PAL. lol

    4. Who's the parents of that kid?

    5. 1. How long ago was the incident?
      2. Is that the photograph taken at the time of the incident?
      3. What kind of first aid remedy did the flight crew do to address the incident?
      4. Did the family bring the child to the hospital for medical treatment immediately after the flight? If so, how soon after the flight? Which hospital? Where is the medical report? How much did it cost?

Hindi puwede yung puro bintang lang, set aside your emotions, and provide concrete evidence when you level an accusation against another party. And please go through the proper channels hindi yung puro social media exposé to generate a hate campaign against a business. May pasaring pa na magiging criminal kung may hand gun. Why? If it is true that PAL did not "recognize" the parents, then escalate the matter to the corporate offices and bring your evidence, such as: medical report, incurred medical expenses, photos, names of FA, flight details. I'm not affiliated with any airline, but at some point, I am a passenger, too, and that's what I would do to help a family member get the proper attention and care for their grievance.

      Delete
    6. Naku PAL, you should address this issue, pag nagkataon, d lang sa delayed flights kayo sisikat.

    8. correct..i am also an airline crew..who in her right mind would give boiling water to a 10 yr old kid? And where were the companions of this kid? And we cant boil water inflight..Theres hot water from the brewer but not boiled.. There are two sides to this story..

    10. actually parang nabasa ko na 'to na, pero parang Cebu Pacific naman, not sure though. be that as it may, nung 14 yo pa lang ako, nabuhusan ko sarili ko ng kumukulong tubig, nagtitimpla ng kape, nabasag yung tasa sa sobrang init, tumapon sa tyan ko, ayun lapnos, but hindi ganyan ichura, parang nabalatan sya. walang blisters na ganyan. Fave ko hot chocolate ng CebuPac kaya lagi ako bumibili nun sa kanila, yung tubig mainit talaga to the point that you have to wait para mainom, but not boiling hot. Kung mapapaso ako, siguro second degree at worst.

      Delete
    11. first of all, where are the parents of the kid? bakit hinayaan lang sya? we flew cebupac and we asked for warm water to make milk for our baby. the FA warned us that they don't have warm water, hot water lang talaga. so we put room temp water sa milk bottle then asked the FA to add the hot water in it. so pagdating sa amin hindi scalding hot yung tubig.

both parties need to take responsibility for this incident.

  2. obviously BOILING WATER nga yun binigay! no wonder hindi nahawakan ng bata yun container. Sue them for sure panalo kayo! kainis yun FA ngpapalusot pa!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Now i want to hear the side of PAL.. This is intense.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Bakit super lapnos? Even if it isnt a "warm Water" i dont think it will cause this much. Even if it is indeed boiled water, it will ease out a bit as the stewardess will need to walk thru their chair. Did it come straight from the thermos? Even so, it wont cause that much burn. Its as if a hot iron burned her skin. Poor kid.

    1. Im with you here... even boiling water will not do this much hard... i had a relative who was accidentally poured with water boiling from the stove, and it did not even produce blood like this pick seems to show... my sympathies to the kid but truth must come out...

      Delete
    2. I have been a burn victim myself. And that is not from boiling water. It looks like from hot oil.

Boiling water will make blisters and will remove the topmost layer of the skin and the dermis will be visible.

How did the water spill on her leg? Was she sitting with her legs up?

      Delete
    3. Agree. 10 or so years ago, I was cooking pancit canton and my sister was helping me. I swear it was an accident but I poured boiling water on my sister's hand instead of the drainer.

      Delete
    4. Water boils at a higher temperature because of the altitude . Believe me my Mom had a similar accident with PAL . Same looking burn on her inner thigh. And it went through her dress. We went straight home after the incident but went to their clinic the following day because it looked really bad . They referred us to Cardinal hospital and gave free meds. Overall customer service was satisfactory so we didn't make a big issue out of it.

They dont boil water on the aircraft. Whatever hot water they have is in a pot. Hot yes, boiling hot, no.

      Delete
    6. Proper tea is made with water that has been heated to 100c — the temperature at which it boils on the ground. Unfortunately, in the reduced-pressure environment of an aircraft cabin, the boiling point of water is lowered to around 90c, which means that the brewing process is unsatisfactory. For the same reason, you cannot have a decent cuppa high in the mountains.

    8. True. medyo madaming inconsistencies. You couldn't even ask for a decent cup of coffee pag inflight.

  8. Sorry but I'm calling bullsh*t on this. If you ask for drinking water, it will be placed in a transparent plastic cup. If it was boiling water, di sana nagmelt yung cup. Plus they don't have boiling water on flight. Even the coffee ain't that hot.

Hey there. I get what you mean, but I was just pointing out that if the kid had asked for warm water, likely that the attendant would have placed it in a transparent plastic cup. So even if she mistakenly placed hot water, it would have melted the cup. I have asked for warm water before, which is actually more like normal temp water which they pour from a distilled water bottle. It is placed in a plastic cup. When i ask for coffee, i get that in a styro, but even that is not even particularly hot.

      Delete
    8. I agree - it looks like a leg; thick body hair is not consistent with that of a 10-year old.

      Delete
  10. It's a hot water, way more than what a human skin can tolerate. They need to compensate and pay the child's expenses. No money can amount to the pain that the child could have felt in that moment.

    1. It is not hot water. Hot water doesnt curdle like that. Hot water drips. That is 3rd degree burn. Hot water only does 2nd degree burns.

      Delete
    2. As an ex FA myself, the story and picture is ridiculous. We don't have boiling water inside the aircraft. We only have hot water we use for our tea and coffee services. Hot water will not give you severe wounds when you get burned. We also give first aid automatically when needed, and we make a report about the incident. The complainant is not telling the truth.

      Delete
    3. as an aside, since dati ka palang DA, anon 5:48, i noticed marami sa FA ng Philippine Airlines nag fe-feeling maganda. for example, para silang rumarampa kapag naglalakad at feel na feel nila ang pagiging FA nila as in GGSS talaga. ganito rin ang case ng mga male FAs. nakakatawa lang minsan kasi pag dating naman sa loob ng eroplano, eh, hello, serve-serve sila ng tea at kape! gosh! just sayin! at may biscuit pang ibinibigay. nacaca loca!

      Delete
    4. Anon 11:21.... Wuts ur problem? Eh ganun tlaga dapat... Alangan nmn maawa sila sa sarili nila. Confidence tawag dyan. number 1 requirement...

      Delete

The FAs are not your servants, they have a job to do, serving you food & beverage is only part of it. Carrying your luggage and cleaning up after your mess and your child's and other BS you have is not part of their job. Lumalabas ang pagka ignorante ng iba dito. #imtalkingtoyou1121

      Delete
    6. anon 2:29 true.

      Delete
    4. agree, anon 3:02. some of them are rude even. many times sumasakay ako sa PAL for official business at na notice ko yun. there was a time na makulit yung bata sa likod ko sa i transferred sa ibang seat na vacant naman talaga. aba, lumapit sa akin yung isang make FA at tinanong ako ba parang nagtataray kung bakit daw ako lumipat. ok lang magtanong pero yung pagtatanong nya, parang nagalit pa sa akin. sinabi ko na lang na nahihilo ako dahil inuuga nung bata yung likuran ng upuan ko kaya wala na syang nasabi pa.

      Delete
    5. AnonymousMarch 1, 2015 at 11:24 PM

According to rules (as sanctioned by law) passengers cant transfer without permission. You have to notify the FA if you want to transfer because one way of determining the identity of the passengers is thru the seating arrangement as indicated upon checking in.

    1. That case was a lot of bull. Even legal experts say it should have been thrown out at first instance. Guess the judge wanted to be controversial. No other case of the same kind has ever gone far ever since. Case of similar nature no longer reach trial because they are an anomaly.

      Delete
    2. yah, sa US yan, dito sa Pilipinas, good luck kung mananalo ka. binabayaran ang mga legal counsel ngayon so i am sure walang mangyayari sa complaint mo.

      Delete
    3. Kalokohan naman ang case na yan vs Mcdonalds. umorder ka ng kape obviously its going to be hot. Unless iced coffee

      Delete
    4. I suggest you do more research and check the Mcdonald's victim after the incident. Nakakaawa yung matanda. Ridiculous as it seems pero because of that case nakita na may mga establishments na di nasunod sa tamang standard ng temperature ng hot water.

      Delete
    5. I have more than just researched that particular case. I studied it. Classroom discussions, case analysis etc.

      Delete
  13. Airplanes only have hot water, not boiling water. The water is from a "faucet-like" machine in the galley/kitchen and can only sustain first degree burns. I have accidentaly hurt myself numerous times with hot water on the plane, and the photo above is definitely not from hot water in the aircraft.

      Delete
    4. Tama si flight attendant, sorry. Wala silang device to make the water boil. Laging nasa pot yung hot water nila. The kid doesnt deserve to be burned but this is fishy. And her arms look like she was burned by boiling coffee, not boiling water.
Honestly, unang pinuntahan eh social media vs hospital?

      Delete
    5. so ano pla un? kagat ng lamok? please bear in mind that the victim is a child. mas sensitive naman siguro skin nun kesa sau noh.

      Delete
Sorry, this is is fishy talaga. Mas feel ko namang sumakay ng pal kaysa American airlines (and I mean Delta and others since AA doesn't fly to MNL) at at ang dami ko ng nakasabay na unsupervised minors at lagi silang chinecheck ng mga attendants.

      Delete
    7. I agree with the above comment, PAL flights, especially international, have wayyy better service than other airlines. Better food, friendlier attendants and nicer seats. Ang saya nga ng mga Pinoy sa America that PAL is back offering US flights.

      Delete
    8. agree anon 2:41 on the mayabang na asta ng mga PAL attendant. akala nyo kung sino silang umasta eh super dali nga ng trabaho nyo! gosh! not because maganda o guwapo kayo eh mag fe feeling kayo na superior kayo noh! hello, no brainer ang trabaho nyo! sus mio!

      Delete
    9. Anon 11:27.

      Delete
    10. 2:41 how ignorant of you. bka mapahiya ka pag nakita mo ang manuals na sinasaulo at inaaral ng mga cabin crew before sila ma release to fly. fyi, licensed po ang cabin crew meaning hndi porket maganda o gwapo ka e papasa ka. do ur research no.

1. hindi naman kasi tlga nila trabaho na buhatin ang bags mo. it's an international rule. it can cause injury to them lalo kung lahat e tutulungan nila. and mind you dito lang sa pilipinas inirereklamo na hindi nag bububat ng bags ang cabin crew! at totoo naman simole rule YOUR BAG YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. dinala mo yan e buhatin mo.

      Delete

They were kind and helpful to me. Mind your please and thank yous.

      #feelingerokayo

    5. Eh bakit di ikaw magbuhat? That is not their job. But nonetheless i have never had this problem. I have seen attendants help passengers any way they can. Baka ikaw may problems. Kaya nga hand carry. Yung kayang bitbitin lang within airline rules.

      Delete

      Delete
    8. e bakit hindi ikaw kaya ang tumuling sa nanay mo te bakit mo kelngan iasa sa fa? they help when needed. sa elderly pregnant may ksmang baby and pwd. pero kung hndi ka naman kabilang dyan e don't expect them na buhatin oara sau ang bag mo. tama si 2:49 kung di mo kaya iakyat it means u have more than what u should bring. icheck in mo.

      Delete
    9. and height is a requirement not because para buhatin ang bag mo. yun ay para maabot nila ang emergency equipments na normally asa overhead bins din. at para maisara ang overhead bins din.. see ang mentality mo kasi is sila tlga mag bubuhat ng bags mo kaya pti sa height requirement yun ang interpretation mo.

      Delete
Tsk. Tsk.

      Delete
    11. I have never had any problem asking FAs for help. Siguro kung maka-utos kayo sobra. At siguro halatang excess na yang hand carry niyo. Anybody who needs special help has to inform the airline when purchasing the tickets so they can make arrangements for special assistance. OTHERWISE, bag niyo, bitbitin niyo. At nakakaloka yang assumption mo na they require a long reach to put bag in the bin. What? Are you for real? At yung naiinis kasi confident maglakad and FA, eh ano gusto mo? Nakayuko na parang nahihiya? I would much prefer FAs with confidence than insecure losers with giant chips on their shoulders.

      Delete
    12. see anon 2:37. hahaha burnnnnn..

      Delete
    13. For those people who thinks that because airline put a height requirement so that flight attendant can put the paseenger's bag in the overhead bin is an idiot and ignorant. FA's are there not to put your handcarry bag but to reach emergency equipment and close the overhead bins. Handcarry is handcarry. Your bag your responsibility. Kung dimo mabuhat sa sarili mo, why expect other people to do it for you?

      Delete
Ewan ko, some people lang siguro have extreme sense of entitlement kaya feeling nila nasnub sila kahit hindi naman. Kawawa yung bata, sobrang hirap nyan at hapdi.

      Delete

  33. Kung totoo man to kawawa naman nung bata kung ganun. Pero obviously its not the kid's arm in the pic, its a leg of an adult i think. At may pagkukulang din nung parents kasi imagine 10 years old palang so sila dapat ang nag aabot sa bata. Sana lang gumalinb agad yung bata.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ang tagal kong tinitingnan yung pic. Pano naging ganyan?
Sana ilagay ni madam yung flight details, be more specific kasi serious case naman sya.

  35. Something is missing here. FAs are trained to be as calm as possible. And sabi sa post nagalit pa daw yung FA which is somehow impossieble.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I got burned myself from na kumukulong tubig, never naman naging ganyan kalala. Baka siguro kinamot or nagalaw ng bata nung natapanunan kaya lumala ng ganyan? May infection na and all. I am not sure. Nevertheless, nakakaawa naman yung bata kasi super sakit niyan.

  40. I used to fly and I obviously know how scalds look like even burnt skin. Why would the FA give a boiling water to a 10 yr old pax? The pax would be definitely given first aid by the FAs once the accident was committed and they will make a report about it. That is how we were trained. With the look and severity of this wound, I doubt if it was caused by just boiling water. There is something missing here. The story is not complete.

    ReplyDelete
  41. First of all, there is no boiling water in the aircraft. Sige sabihin natin hot water ung binigay. Did the incident happen habang binibigay ni FA ung water? Or did it happen in the possession of the family already? Besides, i always burn myself in the galley either with ovens or hot water directly from the spout. Burns dont look like that. And yes i have sensitive skin.

Looks like the family is just looking for somebody to blame and something to get out of the airline. Sheesh!

    ReplyDelete
Grabe. Siraan na naman

    ReplyDelete
  43. parang likod ng binti nman ung napaso hndi arm. and parang 2 days old n ung sugat nya n lumalim. at ang itsura eh hindi nman boiling water ung nakapaso.

    ReplyDelete
  44. pagkakita ko ng pic nagisip ako kung scalding hot water nga cause nyan coz when my brother was 1 1/2 y/o nabuhusan siya ng kakukulong tubig as in galing sa takure at nag-blisters ng bongga. so isipin natin ang skin condition ng one year old at 10 yrs old, parang iba ang cause ng burn na yan.

    ReplyDelete
  45. If there is another passenger who can attest to this maniniwala pa ako. This pic is only showing the leg?! you cant even tell what part of the body that is and if its really from a 10 yr old

    ReplyDelete
  47. for me its hard to believe na scalding hot yung maibibigay sa bata... for sure kung kumukulo yun natural naka mittens yung magbibigay! lol and for the love of God that doesn't even looked like it was done alone by a hot water! something is missing here... its just not that too real for me na gawa yan ng hot water...

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thats not first degree burn, 2nd degree burn yan. Mukhang nag pop na yung blister (ouch). The attendant should have let it cool down a little bit of she knows its boiling water, esp if to be given to a kid. Aside from the wound itself, they will to deal with a big scar afterwards. File a formal complaint. Burns are always considered injury, whatever degree it is. Common sense and tactfulness were clearly not present with the attendant.

  50. The nanny ask the cabin crew warm water. And that what was given by the cabin crew to the nanny. Then the nanny "accidentally" spilled the water to the kid. But from the looks of it. It WAs burned with more than just boiling water even. The aircraft galley has hot water and not boiling ones. Cabin crew are license professional who are safety qualified. They have taken away the fact that the act of mishap was done by the kid's nanny and not through the negligence of the cabin crew. This is a rip off and since they can't sue the company since legally it has no merits. They are trying to get sympathy from the ever judging public. Who seems to jump to conclusions right away without knowing the whole facts.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm the good friend of the mom of the 10 year old girl being referred to in this article. What was written by the auntie is true.
Some people may doubt the authenticity and think it's a scam perpetrated by somebody desperate for money but it is not.
I suppose the impassioned letter left so many details out in an attempt to protect the privacy of the child, but let me provide some of the details to shed light on the matter and for people who don't know any better to stop making scathing and malicious comments.
    Flight date: Feb. 22, 2015
Flight number: PR 731 Bangkok to Manila
    Flight attendant name involved: Natalie
The part that was burnt by the hot water was the leg and thigh of the kid. The fact that she is hairy should not make people doubt her story.
The picture taken was during the 2nd day from when the incident happened that's why the wound looks red.
My friend more than makes a decent living. She is doing this not to milk PAL but to shed light on what happened and to make the company acknowledge their lapses.
To all those who say that planes don't carry hot water, I don't know. Don't they have a coffee maker that can boil water similar to that of a kettle?
I have pictures of the incident from the plane if FP needs it to prove that it was the hot water that caused those burns.
To everyone making unnecessary and stupid comments, let me just say that the smallest incidence of delays and changes in our flights make us swear at airlines. What would an incident that happened to my friend's kid make you feel, should it happen to your loved one?
It may not be a battle that you are fighting now but if everyone makes the airline unaccountable for the incident, don't complain if this happens to you.

  66. Try again girl, that burn is not caused by a burning water

    ReplyDelete
  67. It looks like the burnt part is the shin or the front part of the lower leg. Therefore i seriously doubt the truthfulness of this story. Firstly, paano matatapunan ang lower leg in such a manner while inside an aircraft? If one is sitting down, ang pwede mapaso ay ang arms, hands or thighs. Medyo Imposible ang legs. Secondly, water trickles and runs down. Considering that this is the leg, how was the water concentrated on that part. Ano yun, kumapit? Thirdly, if talagang nangyari to, why did they not call the attention of the attendants on board? Bakit hindi humingi ng medical assistance or first aid? Logic dictates that a burn of such kind would have caused a reaction from the child or the traveling companions or anybody near the child. I have been through enough air travels to know that other passengers will not hesitate to get involved especially if there is such an injury. There are several attendants on board, surely they would have applied first aid to prevent further damage on the skin. Does this complainant mean to say that the kid got burned and no one from the several attendants or the other passengers gave or requested for aid? Human experience dictates that the way the story goes is not believable. For these and other reasons I am too tired to type down, I agree with a commenter above, I am calling bullsh*t on this story. Someone is lying or grossly exaggerating.

    ReplyDelete
  68. 1050 PM I am also too tired to type down and counter your argument point by point. Someone is lying and it is most definitely not the aggrieved party.
There are too many things that seem improbable that happen and probable that do not happen in life.
What happened to the kid is not BS.
They say, evil prevails when good men do nothing. In this case, evil prevails when people who don't know the real story, talk and judge and say things they know nothing of.

So why be surprised if people react differently? Besides, I have not read of anyone personally attacking your friend. Yung story, oo. But what did you expect? Of course the story will be interpreted, dissected and assessed by people in varying manners. Why did you have to involve and call out the other commenter and bring his/her family into the equation? 72. That's an awful burn. I hope that before posting this on social media, the kid has been brought to the hospital for medical attention. As for those belittling the crew, shame on you. You may call them glorified waiter/waitresses/servers etc, but if you're on their flight, you're lives are in their hands. They are trained to administer first aid and help, in extreme cases (like emergencies). Which brings me back to the case in point. Wasn't first aid administered to kid? Has this been brought to the attention of PAL before posting this online?
