Ms. Chiu, please be courteous to the media/press people. You also owe them your fame (and not just to your fans). The question isn't disrespectful nor out-of-sync. Probably, you have been asked much worse. Surely, you know that these types of questions thrown at you are just meant to boost your loveteam's popularity, your respective careers, and the projects that you are into. The question also mirrors or reflects how your loveteam "behaves" in public. Since you and Xian love to tease the public with your PDAs/pa-tweetums ways, you should have responded in a "pa-kilig" way or should have "tickled your followers' fancy" even more, if not respond in a civilized manner. You should know the ebb and flow of showbusiness, and go along with it. Even if you weren't in a good mood at that moment, hate the reporter, or for whatever reason only known to you, you should have exercised some form of restraint. Just saying.
Press conferences are aimed for promoting a movie or TV show in front of the media. Reporters are given the opportunity to ask the stars about the movie. Sa international scene nga they are being provided with guidelines on which questions are allowed during the conference. Hindi pwede yung tungkol sa personal nilang buhay or anything else na walang kinalaman sa movie. Wala bang ganitong klase ng patakaran sa ating bansa? At saka pakialam ba namin kung mag-on or hindi sina Kim at Xian.

Actors need a good or "bad" publicity or gimmicks in order to capture the masses attention. More attention means more endorsement, advertisers, fans and projects which means more dough. This makes me straight to my point, Press people can make or break a actors career. Actors may have legions of fans that maybe will back them up but remember today's masses are smarter and very much critical thinkers, and with every form of media are around the corners this entertainers should watch their actions.

In this country, actors are not much given personal space and privacy. In fact, movie producers, managers and networks bank on their talents' personal lives para ibenta sila. Minsan nga sila pa ang gagawa ng personal na isyu kuno pag may movie or raket ang artista. Hindi yun bago. Hindi yung nakakapagtaka.
Ethics in journalism would dictate that Aster Arroyo ask only questions relating to the movie or the role, but journalism practice in the Philippines would entail otherwise.

Wrong. Clearly you dont know anything about journalism specifically entertainment journalism. Of course they would dwell about the movie. But if you are at least a legit writer you should know that when you attend a presscon and you happen to be a media person NOT a PR person of the movie or the promoter of the film outfit then you should be able to come up with an article that has its own angle and one that is not solely about the film.
The only ones who can probably dwell deeper on the film if they want to are the columnists. So yes we can all presume that they have already talked about the movie long before the lovelife question was asked. And just so you know, yes, they can dwell about the personal lives of the actors and know where their limits are cause there's such a things as journalism ethics. That is journalism 101 for you.

Then about 5 other press people kept pushing it on... I would have been ticked off too.

Probably, you have been asked much worse. Surely, you know that these types of questions thrown at you are just meant to boost your loveteam's popularity, your respective careers, and the projects that you are into. The question also mirrors or reflects how your loveteam "behaves" in public. Since you and Xian love to tease the public with your PDAs/pa-tweetums ways, you should have responded in a "pa-kilig" way or should have "tickled your followers' fancy" even more, if not respond in a civilized manner. You should know the ebb and flow of showbusiness, and go along with it. Even if you weren't in a good mood at that moment, hate the reporter, or for whatever reason only known to you, you should have exercised some form of restraint. Just saying.

ReplyDeletePress conferences are aimed for promoting a movie or TV show in front of the media. Reporters are given the opportunity to ask the stars about the movie. Sa international scene nga they are being provided with guidelines on which questions are allowed during the conference. Hindi pwede yung tungkol sa personal nilang buhay or anything else na walang kinalaman sa movie. Wala bang ganitong klase ng patakaran sa ating bansa? At saka pakialam ba namin kung mag-on or hindi sina Kim at Xian.

Actors need a good or "bad" publicity or gimmicks in order to capture the masses attention. More attention means more endorsement, advertisers, fans and projects which means more dough. This makes me straight to my point, Press people can make or break a actors career. Actors may have legions of fans that maybe will back them up but remember today's masses are smarter and very much critical thinkers, and with every form of media are around the corners this entertainers should watch their actions.

But if you are at least a legit writer you should know that when you attend a presscon and you happen to be a media person NOT a PR person of the movie or the promoter of the film outfit then you should be able to come up with an article that has its own angle and one that is not solely about the film.

So yes we can all presume that they have already talked about the movie long before the lovelife question was asked.
