Letter from a Reader: Fan Complains About Overhyped 7107 International Music Fest

Dear Fashion PULIS,

Please help, FP!

I would like to air my gripes regarding the overhyped, disappointing, underwhelming and overpriced 7107 International Music Fest. How dare they call it an "international" music fest when the lineup has only about 9 foreign acts out of the original 50? Unbelievable!

I have nothing against local artists, but the lineup is ridiculously disappointing considering that it is supposedly a diverse pool of performers from other countries. The foreign acts are not even THAT big. The only consolation are Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kendrick Lamar. But that doesn't justify something as close to deception.

I am very outraged (along with A LOT of netizens). I bought tickets prior to the announcement of the complete lineup because I trusted the people behind it that the event will live up to the name it carries -- "INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FEST," my a**! It looked like I paid P20,000 to see an Oktoberfest! Good thing I'm a big RHCP fan, so the fact that they are going consoles my very angered soul... and wallet.

Please, FP. Please tell the public of this s**t of an event. The social media manager of 7107 blocks people who tweet negative comments instead of handling the issue head on. Certainly not an ethical way to do business.

Thank you, FP for giving me space on your widely-read blog.

    6. While it is truly a pity for those who expected alot from this event, social media posters palang na puno ng promises na kesyo sobrang dami ng foreign and local acts, maiisip mo na na you should never expect so much from it. Imagine how in roughly three hours of purely the performances panong magkakasya ung ganoon karaming acts. Ang coachella naman takes 3 days so sana cinonsider muna nila kung worth it ba ang 20k sa alam nilang ilang oras lang.

    10. I happen to know na ininvite lahat ng artists na rumored noon na pupunta dito... Kaso they asked for too much money. Just sayin'.

  5. Tickets are non-refundable and are being sold directly by the producers without the assistance of any of the usual ticket companies. Those 2 facts alone should have made people wary.

    1. My thoughts exactly. What happened to TICKETNET and TICKETWORLD?? What the hell is that online site where they sell tickets?? They want to MAXIMIZE their profits that's why they avoided getting the top 2 ticket sellers here in the PH! AND avoid TAXES! #NAPOLES

Tapos in PAMPANGA?? Why cause it's WAY cheaper there?? Than have it here in Manila? Do you seriously think that many people will attend that's why rented that huge open area in Clark??

For the people that would bring cars meron pang 300 parking pass for EACH day!

Wait there's more! It even said that tickets will be shipped for a 500 peso fee!! Ano yun nakataxi yung messenger?? I've had items shipped to me from Visayas FREE of charge!

So they scrapped that and now they want the tickets to be picked up from their office or on the day itself. SMH.

Sobrang scam! or a money laundering scheme to keep their millions "legally"

with all that line up, i'm pretty sure RHCP and Kendrick Lamar will only perform 3 songs each!!

      Delete
    2. So they're cancelling the shipping scheme? Kahit dun sa mga bayad na? WTF nagbayad ako ng P500 para sa wala *^@#(@&#^!)@!!!!!

      Delete
    3. No I think for those who paid na, they will still ship. Pero for recent purchases hindi na ata. I just read it somewhere on their FB page. Ewan ang gulo nila!

Sa site din nakalagay Feb 10 release ng tix, then when you scroll or click another page it says sa Feb 17!! Ang labo! Different dates on one website!

  6. i knew this was a scam! part of this event is napoles son or daughter i dunno. haha goodthing didnt bought ticks right away, final line up was hazy and misleading. pak na pak sa oktoberfest hahaha!

  8. olats yang 7107!!! Diba nga Napoles' kid is behind it? most of the local artists are unknown as in mapapa da who ka! and its totally overpriced! dapat d muna pumatol.

    ReplyDelete
  9. SO TRUEEEEE. We wished that we opted for a bora trip na lang. 7107 is BS. They posted Kanye West, Ellie Goulding and BIG Artists in their page so we expected --they did't deny nor confirm it. i WISH THEY DIDNT LIE ABOUT THE LACKLUSTER OF THEIR "INTERNATIONAL" ARTISTS. Kaskade even went here na sa Reqpubliq last year. Then they included Abra and Loonie for the hiphop Genre, pa-consuelo?? Is it because Kendrick Lamar lang all they've got for this genre? BS. Overpromised. Underdelivered 7 Lame 0 7 "International" my a** Festival! Their overpriced tix that aren't allowed to resell + hotel + gas expense + food expense = oktober fest lang pala! Not so worth it. Ughhh. Good luck next year sa kanila.

    ReplyDelete
  10. May fine print na line up may change without any prior notice. So goodluck nalang sa mga bumili na at no refund.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The letter sender has all the right to complain and be disgust by that st**id event...when you pay that kind of amount dapat lang worth it noh...yun na! Paaaak!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  13. The sender would probably pay the same amount watching separate concerts of RHCP and Kendrick Lamar. I don't get the negativity. You pay for the whole experience. Ganun talaga yung risk pag early selling of tickets. Hindi ka sure sa lineup. Same thing happens with Coachella or Lollapalooza.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Uhm, please don't compare Lollapalooza and Coachella with 7107 coz they are not on the same level. Tried and tested. THEY DELIVER AND HAVE DELIVERED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. And even if their line-up isn't final, a good line up can be expected months before the festival dates.

Eh itong 7107, November ang labo pa rin.

Isa pa, gusto malaki agad. Most great festivals started small and built themselves up.

      Delete
    2. Mismo. Start up small. Build a good rep! Add more acts as you progress. Before you know it aabangan ng mga tao event mo yearly.

  14. t*nga din nman ang letter sender, sana naghintay muna sya ng complete line up ng mga artists who will perform..ginusto nya yan, panindigan nya..no one forced her/him to buy a ticket and watch..st*pid lang tlga sya..

    1. Agree. A wise concert goer would wait for the full lineup before getting a 20k worth ticket. Sana inisip nya muna yun at prinotektahan ang sarili from possible scam/disappointment. Impulse buyer!

      Delete
    2. I actually relate with the letter sender. I bought a ticket before the announcement of the lame final lineup so I could avail of the earlybird discount. On top of that, I also availed of the Christmas discount. So mura talaga. It's just disappointing because the promoters overhyped the event. They even posted "clues" of the unannounced artists in the form of lyric photos, etc. Sigh.

      Delete
    3. Sure ka anon 10:31 you bought a ticket? Only one discount will take effect. If you bought nung Christmas, 25% off lang ang discount. SURE AKO.

      Delete
    4. @anon 10:49: I bought a ticket on Christmas. The santa7107 promo code got me a P4,250 discount on 2 gen ad tix. On top of that, I saved P3,000 from the earlybird promo. Paid P642 service fee + P500 shipping fee, my total was only P13,942. SURE AKO. :)

  16. So Local version ito ng coachella? Red Hot Chilli Pepper Dosen't even have new music. International Music Festival should be 50% international and 50% local. Wala nga si Sarah Geronimo so local. tapos Php 25,000.000 ang VIP? That marquee better be good and hindi lang ordinayong tent na may libreng bottled water yan. diba binagyo nga so saan naman kukuha ng Php 10,000.00 hindi ba pwede na yung Php 10,000.00 na pambili ng ticket eh dalhin nalang sa tacloban? maraming locals so naive. pag nakarinig ng international artist eh nag papanic para masabi cool sila Hello Third World Country ang pilipinas

      Delete
    3. RHCP are not "living icons" and far from being gods. They made the same rehashed Californication album for over a decade. The same songs over and over and over. You're all on crack.

    4. Am a 90's Kid. Back in the day noon sikat pa ang RHCP they only change $ 400 on their Ticket in American. So Where did they get the Value of $ 700 / Php 25,000.00. For a 90's Band and sa mga hindi naman sikat na musician, No offense to the local bands. pero ang kilala ko lang sa line up nila is KASKADE & EMPIRE OF THE SUN. naive lang ang bibili ng ticket na yan just to feel that their cool enough. tapos dadamay pa nila ang mga typhoon victims bakit hindi nalang ibigay yung pambili ng ticket direct sa mga victims?

  18. I am sure na Napoles son is an investor here since he is really tight with the Herrera fam. Come on, they arent even tied with any ticket selling companies, no refund, extremely overpriced pa, and look at the line up.... Kendrick Lamar and RHCP, ilang songs yan aber, 5? Then yung VIP for sure ang laman lang nyan eh sa circle lang nila. GOODLUCK TO ALL WHO BOUGHT THEM TICKETS. OVERRATED LANG YAN

  19. The producers didnt promise you coachella. You were not coerced into buying that ticket. It was a risk and if you were not prepared to be disappointed you should not have used your moneyAlso it may very well be that they did try to negotiate with those bands you so wanted to see and that they werent able to close a deal. Kaya nga di nagcoconfirm diba. . Otherwise you are just a deluded consumer

    1. Man, you were never a fan of music no??!

They posted photos of our favorite artists. They claimed that 7107 will be the biggest party concert whatever and.... we expected. Because we love that artist and the music THAT much so we bought tix.

At the end, olats pala. We felt cheated. Yun lang naman eh. Sana next time, wag na mag promise or mag claim if they can'y live to what they said earlier... Good luck next year.

    2. The way an event is promoted through online and/or printed marketing materials, and the caliber of the artists or performers will give the public an indication of what type of event it is or what the vibe will be (more or less). You say that the producers did not promise Coachella, so what did they promise, exactly???

Consumers have the right to return or to get a refund for something that they paid for with their earnest money. The mere fact that there is no mechanism to allow consumers to exercise such right; and promoters continue to mislead the public as to the final line up of artists on their website and other promotional / marketing materials warrants the question: "Is there an intent to scam the public?"

You are too quick to dismiss people here as "reklamador" and "deluded consumer[s]," could you be one of the promoters misleading the public into believing that there will be 50 foreign acts for this International Music Festival?Maybe somebody from the media who reads FP can pick-up this story and start asking more questions...or better yet, maybe someone from the Department of Trade and Industry can look into certain questionable practices that are already in place.

      Delete
    3. Anon 7:29 Agree with you. Their promotional materials were misleading. They published "clues" in instagram of lyric photos. Tapos wala naman pala. It was done in bad faith.

Prior to the Phase 2 announcement, the organizers/promoters didn't deny nor confirm any of the rumors. Lagi lang nilang sinasabi na "it's going to be big" blablabla. MALAMANG NAG-EXPECT ANG PUBLIC!

Tapos sinabayan pa nila ng SOBRANG LAKING MGA DISCOUNT. Para siguro BUMILI NA KAAGAD yung mga tao kasi waley talaga yung lineup nila.

  21. If the promoters have misrepresented the event, and are selling very expensive tickets with no way for the consumer to refund or re-sell such tickets, there maybe a cause for any consumer to bring the matter forward to the DTI, to investigate the promoters' unfair practices.

  23. basta may napoles, scam. and wag na ipagpilitan na nde kasama sa mga nag produce at nag finance ung anak ni napoles. from a very reliable source na nakakasama nyo dyan sa s*i**y circle nyo, hands on pa daw ung napoles.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Before they revealed the Phase 2 artists, I actually asked them on Facebook on one of their teaser posts to just come out with the list. One month to go, teaser pa rin!? Anong petsa na? Na-imberna ang community manager at sinabi ang date. Tapos binura at nagpalusot na joke lang daw yon nung nagreklamo ako. Aba!

Lesson learned here is: not buying 7107 tickets next year, kahit si Madonna pa yan!

  30. I have to agree with the lettet sender. Their ads were misleading. When you say, International Music Festival, you're expecting it to be huge. True, Oktoberfest lang talaga ang dating. Even if you just buy the Gen Ad ticket, it's still 8k and if only RHCP would just perform in MOA, that 8k would already give me a good seat, even better with 20k. I, too, have nothing against local artists. I love Up Dharma Down and Bamboo but come on, people get to watch them for free in Eastwood on New Year's eve. Kaskade performed in Republiq as already mentioned. So somehow you're expecting big artists to perform. Someone already asked the promoters before if they are having a difficult time convincing international artists to perform on the said fest thats why they couldnt reveal phase 2 yet and 7107 replied, "we're just waiting for their go signal." Then someone commented that he believes RHCP and Kendrick Lamar are the only artists to look out for and again 7107 replied with "you're very wrong." But when they revealed the complete lineup, it seems the guy was right. Hope people here would understand. It's not fair na may kasalanan pa ang bumili. They really made it look like this is going to be like the International Music Fests we know, which promotes tourism in the country. And of course one wants to grab the chance bec 8k or 20k is really cheap in comparison to buying a plane ticket to attend International Music Fest in another country. Guess thats what people who took advantage of the Early Bird Promo were thinking. But now it really is just like Octoberfest, why would people from other country come to here to watch Abra.

The disappointed public has nowhere to go to voice their disappointment (except maybe their respective social media accounts, where event promoters flock to gang up on enraged consumers).

  48. what disappoints me is the quality of the lineup. i am a musician too and i almost had the chance to be part of this event but some unexpected circumstances came. it's too bad that much more deserving local acts didn't make the gig. mga supot yung line up. bano.

  50. So disappointing how the producers themselves are being so rude and insensitive, especially on twitter. I say boycott this damn festival to show them that arrogance and being rude will get you nowhere.

    1. Agree with this. Unang festival, ang yabang yabang. Akala mo naman established nang event and production. Yan tuloy, magiging flop ang event niyo for sure.

  57. We too waited for the list and decided not to buy the ticket. Not worth it, plus you can watch free sa Eastwood Mall & Venice Piazza McKinley on Feb 20 and 21 yung ibang nasa line up nila like
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Natives and The Asteroids Galaxy tour.
