Letter from a Reader: Problematic Group Coupon Site

Dear Fashion PULIS,

I would like to share my experience regarding this particular group coupon site with you and your readers. I started buying vouchers online last year and I never had any problems with regard to purchasing and using them. I buy group coupons from different sites and these sites normally send the vouchers for you to print out in your account as soon as you have deposited the payment.

Recently, I had a problem with this one particular group site. A friend of mine asked me to get her ACE WATER SPA vouchers since I am a member of this site. My friend paid for the vouchers through bank deposit and I told her that we need to wait for the vouchers to be sent to my account. 

On that same day, I also purchased (4) FUN RANCH RIDE-ALL-YOU-CAN vouchers. I also sent my payment through bank deposit. After the payment has been made, I informed the site and asked for my vouchers. It has been almost 2 weeks and I still haven’t received any vouchers from them. I do regular follow-ups on their Facebook account and even sent numerous emails but no one from the site bothered to give a reply.

Yesterday morning, I sent another email to them to ask for my vouchers. I even mentioned that I called DTI already about my complaint regarding their poor service. I also mentioned that they should stop enticing customers with their so-called great deals when in fact they can’t even send us the vouchers that we have paid for. In the event that they are having problems with the said merchants, why don't they update us or send us a refund instead?

A voucher’s validity is usually up to 3 months only and I have already wasted almost a week while waiting for my vouchers to be sent to me. I hope you can share my experience with your readers FP.  Thank you for sharing my story so that your readers can be cautious next time if they intend to purchase group coupons from these sites.

  4. Hi! I think you need to check your email kasi as far as i know, you need to sign-in also in order to buy those vouchers. Alam ko isa sa mga policy nila ang gumawa ka muna ng account (free of course) for their site bago ka makabili ng mga vouchers. Check your email first. :)

  5. i'm also a frequent buyer at this site. In fact I also bought the fun ranch ride all you can and have used it already. but, i paid for them by credit card and within the day i was able to get the vouchers on the "my orders" at this site.

    your situation might be a random one but i do agree that they should get back to you. i have bought a number of their vouchers and so far, i have no complaints. good luck!

  7. Just to help:

    If this is CCP, they will email the vouchers to you directly.

    If this is EGO, you have to visit the site and log on with your username and password. Click My Account, then click My Vouchers. You will see all the vouchers you have purchased. If you do not see the vouchers, you were not able to purchase them or they did not receive your payment. Try this out first.

  8. this is MD. i bought 7coupons to their different deals, i already used 4, so far evrything went smoothly i did not encounter any problems. maybe its just a delay or somethinh but hope this will be fixed asap. goodluck gurlll :-)

  9. I think i know this site. Is it md? Parang ang dami naring nagreklamo sa fb page nila pero when i bought coupon sakanila wala namang hassle. Just a tip, if you choose to pay over the counter make sure you read and follow all the instructions. Ung iba merong link na after you made your payment you need to fillup something, i think bank details (eg. Branch code and time/date you did your deposit). After that they will send your vouchers. That's what i did so walang hassle. If nagawa mo na lahat ng nilagay nila sa email instructions dun ka magcomplain. Don't forget na magscreenshot for proof! LOL! It's a MUST to read and understand all the instructions. Thank you FP! I love you and your blog always!

  12. try logging in to your account in their site. if they have received your payment it should appear on the "my orders" or "my vouchers" tab. i have heard a lot of these complaints before but so far i have not encountered not receiving my vouchers yet, though i pay only through paypal kasi to be safe.

  13. What? What do you mean they "send" you the vouchers? Ang jologs naman nitong group coupon site na 'to! I've used several group coupon sites abroad (Singapore, Netherlands, US) and you are always, always are able to download the voucher immediately as a PDF as soon as your payment is confirmed. This should be a minimum expectation for sites like these and I would not become a member/buy from such a site if they were not able to guarantee at least that.

    Hi! I have done all the possible procedures needed since I have done this things already. I made some screenshots and emailed all to DTI already. Since I get no response from this site up to this day.

    I also have checked my email everyday, still no replies concerning my complaint. They just sent me an automated response that they will get back on my query.

    I can't help but think that you're affiliated with the group buying site being discussed here, or one of the other group buying sites? :P

    What you deem as "faked or plain ignorance of the proper procedure" has NEVER BEEN, and NEVER SHOULD BE, an excuse for POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE or after-sales service. So after paying, the clients should just sit back and hope that their vouchers will magically be sent to them?! Of course not! The issue here is not this buyer's awareness of the terms and conditions (although, that is a must before any purchase, both online and offline) - but the fact that this group buying site (CCP/EGO/MD/etc...???) is not addressing the client's concerns. Kahit sino will feel taken advantage of if, after paying for something, biglang di magpaparamdam yung binayaran.

  21. Maybe FP doesn't want to divulge the names kase to protect rin the other concern. Ang point lang dito is to WARN EVERYONE na bumibili sa mga group sites. Kung gusto talaga malaman ng tao kung sino yang group site na yan, eh di search it for yourself. Tutal sinabi naman ng sender ano ano yung vouchers na bili nya. HIndi naman kailangan pangalanan lahat ni FP. Or malay nyo naman kung sinabi naman nung sender yung pangalan ayaw lang sabihin ni FP.

  23. I had the same experience. I even made a double transaction because when I checked my account it said that I have not made a MD aacount yet. I have emailed them several times and asked for a refund for the double taransaction but they never replied back. I also tried looking for their contact number but you can never find it in their site nor if you google it. So I ended up filing a complaint to my credit card provider so they can cancel the transactions in my behalf. Out of all the group coupon sites I have used, MD is "bulok". I have never encountered such poor support. Unlike with other group coupon sites, they reply right away, in less than 24 hours. Too bad they have interesting deals.... Yun pala pahirapan din. I hope your readers take caution in dealing with them

  26. Ako naman i earned referral points from MD noon dati may referral keme pa sila..then i bought some vouchers using those referral points. now yung voucher i bought not existing sa list ng gloria jeans at la estetica. badtrip yang MD na yan talga!

  27. I read this last night but I didnt which site. Anyway, I bought a deal this morning lang and i have not received the voucher. Parang familiar yung story. So I went back here to read the post. The site I just bought a deal from is the same as hers ata. At kung nalaman ko lang agad which site dapat pala hindi na ako bumili kanina. :( FP, please post this comment. the site is MD. This will help the others be aware. Its not supposed to be a blind item. Everybody should be aware of this. - Vanessa

  28. Naku, I bought pa naman from them un JVC nagyon. pag chinecheck ko nga, few hours left, bukas pag check ko, few hours left nanaman. So... what's happening. Plus nag email din ako to ask kng pano ako pipili ng color, almost a week na, wala padin akong sagot sa email. Pano kaya to? :(

  30. I also have a coupon horror story, pero CCP, not MD.

    I bought 2 vouchers for this spa in Fort which were about to expire Aug 15. I called them up Jul 30 to make a reservation but they said there were no more slots and I had to forfeit my voucher. I complained because the vouchers were already paid for and I was reserving within a considerable amount of time, and that if they couldn't accommodate all the clients then they should either extend the promo or give a refund. The spa directed me to CCP. CCP told me the spa gave an extension but only on specific dates and I'd still be on a waiting list; but i was already turned off from the spa so I wanted to get a refund instead. So CCP said they'll process the refund.

    One month later and my problem is still unresolved. A company selling as much coupons as CCP should have a standard refund procedure. Nakakaasar. Buti pa ang BE, madali kausap and within 2 days naayos nila lahat ng coupon problems.

    Anyway, more power FP! :)

  31. I think this is MD.
    I also purchased some deals from them few weeks ago, and paid via over-the-counter deposit.
    When I haven't received my vouchers 3 days after I've confirmed my payment, I emailed them.
    Fortunately for me, they replied the following day. My vouchers were available 2 days after. :)

  33. I've purchased from this particular coupon site, and still have the vouchers on hand. No problems yet, but noticed that you have to double check when getting the total for payment kasi they OFTEN overprice you sa total. They had the Fruit Magic deal, and I only ordered 2 and yung amount for payment was for 6! So I had to refresh, then when that didn't work, kasi for 6 pa din total, I closed the window and redid the whole procedure. Happened for 2 other deals from the same site, too on 2 different occasions, so BE CAREFUL lang. ;)

  34. madalas kc madaming tanga din na bumibili..lalo sa mga online at otc payments..di nag fofollow instructions tapos agad nagagalit without reading the procedure.just be grateful sa mga discounts na binibigay mga mga establishments thru these groupbuying sites..dmi din kasi talaga bobo at ingratang costumers
