Like what Chuvaness said and I agree;SHE IS YOUNG!! HUNGRY! LOL
Is there a need to post something like this? Please leave the cyberbullying to chuvaness.
She has ugly teeth.
She looks entirely different from her photos.
It's not about the fashion forward thing that she said thats wrong. I think it's more of how she sees herself like she's on top of the world. Honestly, there are a lot of people who doesn't know her. I don't even like her style. It's so patweetums. No class at all. That's why I always wonder why she is always featured in magazines, websites.
This is just MEAN. Poor kid, the older and supposedly wiser people are picking on her. Sure made some negative remarks, but ask yourself - are YOU fashion forward? I bet only a small percentage can say yes. So don't get offended. And it's not like she was picked by Tumblr to represent the Philippines, Tumblr picked based on blog popularity. And she has the right to be all narcissistic because it's HER blog okay?
and who is she again?! exactly!
To Tricia: Learn to listen to what those who have been in touch with the fahsion industry than you have to say. Instead of being defensive and finding kakampi on twitter, find the wisdom in their comments. A lot of them are talking, and they wouldn't be doing so for no reason. And yes, your blog/lookbook/whatever the hell that is call is bordering on narcissistic. Mashado nang pa-cute, dear.
I don't know what the big deal is. It's just fashion and fashion is fleeting. And what is fashion forward anyway? Even in sophisticated places not everyone is fashionable.. Don't make this girl a star.
Michael, I love your blog, but this is totally mean. She's young and I'm sure she has learned from this incident, but what she said does not merit this kind of bullying from everyone.
if that's her opinion... what bothers me more is the fact that she used the word "like" more than what she was trying to say. ha ha ha.xo
..and i was even referring to the original video.xo
Coming from you, a teacher, this is mean and bullying. Funny how your blog started out legitimately enough with your fashion "relabeling" post, yet it somehow devolved into another Chikatime. And now this...
If you don't like this post, then skip the goddamn post. If you don't like this blog, then get out of here! This is MIC'S BLOG Not yours!
Personally,i do agree that the PHIL is not fashion forward. Look around you? Haller, ilan lang makakaporma ngngccomute?Months bago umabot dito ang trends. When you actually do wear smething fab/unique people STARE at you. Very few have their "own" fashion style. But, what i dont like is that she had to mention THAT in the video! She was their to represent our country a CHANCE to let others know about the FASHION in PH.She couldve said a lot of positive things! Bket pa kelangan ipaalam yun sa buong world? She should've saved that comment and wrote a BLOG about it instead. Eh di doon niya ielaborate ang point niya! Wrong MOVE talaga.
As a response to some previous comments...OK... Let's say she is popular, "pretty," spot-on fashionable and all... These do not give her the right to generalize the country and place it in a bad or questionable light when it comes to fashion.Being young neither gives her an excuse to not be careful with her words. Since she has a following and since she's been writing, she should know this. But then again, there are a lot of irresponsible bloggers.Fashion Pulis isn't bullying unless Ms Fashion Forward here has made an apology of sort. Has she? Please enlighten. Anyway...Next post please. Love this blog!- Warla Han
I agree this is mean. She's young. She seemed nervous when she was interviewed. Give her a break. I also agree with that chuvaness is sort of a cyber bully. Please Mike, you mentioned she's your idol but I'm certain you're better than this.Chizzy
I really don't find anything wrong with this...it is her opinion it is her blog and what she said isn't demeaning at all, it is just a statement...read the papers or even Chuvaness' blog, almost all are demeaning the Philippines, the politicians, the people, the president, etc. Then everyone goes berserk just because someone commented on the Filipino's fashion sense? DUH! Cyberbullying as a result of Cyberenvy...take up some other cause more important...Next page pls!
"It's not about the fashion forward thing that she said thats wrong. I think it's more of how she sees herself like she's on top of the world. Honestly, there are a lot of people who doesn't know her. I don't even like her style. It's so patweetums. No class at all. That's why I always wonder why she is always featured in magazines, websites." - I agree with this comment the most. I personally did not find "Philippines is not fashion forward" statement of hers offensive, I mean I think it was true, but rather, it's that she glorifies herself in the interview. She could've just expounded more on her first statement rather than talk about her claim to fame. If she expounded more on her first statement, then we wouldn't have this issue right now. In my opinion, the hate comments on twitter were a little harsh, I mean she IS still young and she needs a whole lot of guidance if she wants to succeed in the fashion industry. I was never a fan, and I will never be a fan. After all, Mich Dulce was right, her style was never "fashion forward" it was more on the "current". I'm not a hater, don't get me wrong. :)
In my opinion, I think she just had the wrong choice of words. She did not put the country down, neither did she claim to be a fashion expert. If you put what she said in context, she seems to be saying that the Philippines as a country is not fashion forward. Being fashionable and being fashion forward are two totally different things. There may be a lot of fashionable people in the country, but rarely are they fashion forward.
22 bata pa ba yun?? mali ang masyadong mapagmataas anyway you put it. zipia.net ang style ni ate. hindi ka nga UN ambassador from the PH. pero utang na loob wag naman ganyan ang sinasabi mo sa mga tao dito. hindi ka nga kilala dito eh.
cyber bullying... i don't think so... this is merely a comments section for someone's reaction on the video. fp neither disses her nor maligns her in his post.the moment you make a statement to the press, it would be idiotic for anyone (even if they are just 16 or 22) to think that everyone will just swallow what ever you say. she did not consider how her statement echoed a backward view on the country's fashion industry. it's nice that she had the courage to address the issue and apologize to the people she offended. sadly, what ever is left of her 15 minutes of fame (shame) will be spent reading and hearing more negative reactions, as well as defending herself.it comes with the territory.
To ERK, A Kinase April8,2011 11:53AMHow can this be a form of bullying? Nobody is bullying her. She said her piece and the people are saying their piece. :)
Who is she?
Sad. I think she's just misinterpreted. Still, she should've said something better.http://meesterdapper.blogspot.com/
Since you named her, I'll name names. Only fair.1. It is bullying because people are not sticking with the issue by picking on her appearance. Angela Alarcon tweeted her a pic of a Shakeys hat, gift daw niya para fashion forward. Mich Dulce said mukha siyang yaya na nag Japan. The commenter up there said she has ugly teeth.2. She has explained her side last month. She has apologized this morning. Lumaki lang at nabring up dahil nakisawsaw pa si Bianca Gonzales. Naturingang role model. Kinalat ang link kay Mich Dulce, Jigs Mayuga, Gabbie Tatad, etc. Tapos sina Liz Uy, Raymond Gutierrez, Bubbles Paraiso and pati Solenn sumali na.3. I was hoping this won't make it to fashionpulis. Love your blog pa naman. It's not helping promote the Philippines. It only helps promote bullying.
The fact that she's Top 9 all-time in the world on Lookbook and the only Pinay, the only Asian delegate of Tumblr worldwide for NYFW, she has already represented the Philippines. After being followed, featured and used by magazines and brands and celebs to ride on her popularity, suddenly now you all think she's overrated, unpretty and unfashionable? What she said was true. We're not that fashion-forward. Try taking public transpo to anywhere and count how many fashion-forward commoners you'll see. Only a small percentage actually has access and choices for fashion-forward dressing. She didn't say we're not fashionable. There's a diff. After all, some of you have been trying to make it since forever, while she, a relative newbie who just likes to post outfit photos, gets recognition worldwide. I seriously believe, this is borne of repressed envy. A short clip out of a long Q&A none of us even got to witness? It was your perfect opportunity to vent all that bitterness. Again, the fact that she was there, she was repping PH. Instead of appreciating that fact, she gets bullied by fellow celebs and bloggers. At 22, what have YOU done for your country?
Tricia Gosingtian looks like a Korean doll, knows how to dress herself and put on quirky make-up. She can imitate Forever 21 style to a T. Her poses reminds me of Rumi Neely of www.fashiontoast.com, who was also a poster girl for Forever 21 last summer. Para siyang copycat diba? The nerve of her to utter the words, 'fashion forward'.This girl is young in terms of experience. She is naive with PR, and thus her words ate her alive. She tweeted how her interview was edited, and she came off dumb and shallow.Pero watch out her shallowness will sell like peasant blouses rage. This internet debate on her will bring the jejemons to the promise land of Forever 21. Nag-apologize na siya front and back sa Twitter nya. Tigilan na ang paglulupasay ng anti-patriotism. Admit it, we Filipinos are just tactless- example "Ay, tumaba ka!"
I just wanted to hear your opinions. Is the Philippines fashion forward or not? That was it.
Heller! San ang bullying jan? Wala naman bullying sa pag post ng video na currently making rounds and making a poll if fashion forward ba ang Pinas or not.
why are you guys attacking FP this time? i don't see this as bullying. he's just asking what your opinions are. gosh some people are so defensive.
I didn't like what Tricia said at all but I find this post mean. People have attacked her enough and if she doesn't learn her lesson from this, then ewan ko nalang. I am an avid follower of your blog Mike but this is a low blow. It's one thing to post blind items and its another to name names. I really hope your blog doesn't turn into another chikatime. Post more blind items nalang, please.
meh...we shouldnt care about these wanna-bes anymore...
of course there are Filipinos who are fashionable, but to some degree, we are not that fashion forward. just like what the other commenter said, the mere fact that some people still stare and gawk at other people's fashion sense shows that medyo conservative pa rin in terms of fashion ang kapwa natin. sanay na yata tayo sa uniform, kahit wala na sa school, we dress uniformly pa rin (hello tanks, jeans, and flats). just go to malls, medyo pare-pareho mga suot. if we see someone that stands out naman, iisipin naman "alin, alin, alin ang naiba."
I am not a fan of Tricia and I did find what she said to be sad and I understand why many are upset but the personal attacks on her like this video you posted is just shallow. It also saddens me that people steep so low as to attack the girl's appearance, manner of speaking etc. As I've said, I'm not a fan of her but come on, that's just really low.. If you really just wanted to hear people's opinion then you should've just uploaded or shared the original video and not this one that is mocking her. Wag na natin pagtulungan yung tao she apologized already. There are so many other interesting things to talk about honestly.
Fashion PULIS said...I just wanted to hear your opinions. Is the Philippines fashion forward or not? That was it.To most poor people who doesn't have access to fine clothes and style, I can say that PI is NOT in a 'FASHION Forward' mode. With our super hot weather T-shirt , kamiseta and shorts puede na. However, to the classiest men and women who have extra moohlah if not damn filthy rich susme kahit jacket at mainit may aircon. Example, compare people from Makati and people from the province ( no offense ) , in shirt ibagay ang fashion sa lifestyle and environment. Hindi puede a stilettos sa bundok :D
LOL oo nga naman.. andami na nilang nasabi nagtatanong ka lang naman if they agree or disagree. call it cyber bullying or whatever sht you want to call it, I think Mike was merely stating an issue. And I call it an issue because most of the readers here are somwhat connected to fashion... Ohh and you can't call 22 "young" a lot of people marry that age. And for Bianca, Mitch and Solenn to say negative things. Bakit hindi nila sasabihin yun? 1)They are filipinos, 2)they are fashion icons.. Then someone will carelessly say that "they aren't fashion forward" What do you propose to do? applaud her for what she said? That's not cyberbullying that's the words coming from people who were insulted in an international interview. Kung meron cyberbully si Chuvaness yun. Seriously what's up with her?
Well to say the least we are not a fashion forward if we are basing people in Manila Society. They are imitating only and only few can really pull it off. Social Climbing and back biting is really In because their is lot of corruption & politicking just to be in in that they call fashionista/socialite circle etchus tse!
What does "fashion forward" mean? I've been to NY and people there don't dress up like cast members of "Devil Wears Prada" or SATC. They look more like members of Oprah's audience. To answer the question, No, hindi pasyon porward and Fhilifines if it meant being trendy or stylish, just like in NYC, UK and maybe the rest of the world.Siguro tama naman sinabi ni Trixia, pero siguro sa mga private conversations lang among friends o sa mga parties ok yun, meron tayong tinatawag na opinions na di pang-tv, in this case, pang tumblr o youtube. You have to earn respect first bago ka magka-K mamintas ng taste ng iba sa harap ng media. Having many followers on twitter or tumblr does not count.
There's enough comments here. You heard everyone's opinion. At least take out that video or replace it. It's just too mean. It's almost cyber bullying. :(
I don't get the commenter who said Chuvaness is a cyber bully. What she said lang naman about this girl was chalking up her behavior to the follies of youth. She's young and she doesn't know better. Di naman bullying yon, it's one of the kinder things I've read about this girl.About the Philippines being fashion forward, this girl has no authority to declare whether it is or isn't because she isn't fashion forward either.
Carlo said...In my opinion, I think she just had the wrong choice of words. She did not put the country down, neither did she claim to be a fashion expert. If you put what she said in context, she seems to be saying that the Philippines as a country is not fashion forward. Being fashionable and being fashion forward are two totally different things. There may be a lot of fashionable people in the country, but rarely are they fashion forward.-----I think this is the best explanation in the bunch, and what I agree with. pls leave her alone as well, guys.
Sila ni Bubbles tinatawanan si Tricia that she was sending them FB messages to explain her side. @Fashionpulis, I'm just curious. Did you post this because your and chuva's common enemy Bryanboy gave Tricia some emotional support? I find it pointless kasi nag apologize and explain na siya. Pinapaingay mo lang. Thanks!
Mike, maybe you should've posted the ORIGINAL VIDEO with Nina Garcia for people to comment on, not this remastered one that is clearly mocking her. Someone certainly had too much time on his/her hands! How would you feel is someone made some sort of post with all your grammatical errors or something? I'm not a fan of TG but I know bullying when I see it.
hindi naman talaga fashion forward karamihan ng tao sa philippines eh. go to the mall, anong makikita mong suot nila? a shirt, sandals/sneakers, jeans/shorts. anong fashion forward dun? na-offend nga ang mga nasa fashion industry but honestly, i think may halong inggit din yan. when they found out that tricia was invited to NYFW, did they say anything? like how they are proud that a filipino blogger was invited? wala right? tapos ngayon, since may nakita silang "mali" sa ginawa nya, they're picking on her na. kawawa sya, she's just a kid. and yes, she did apologize naman on her blog. so tama na mga panlalait. :)
kalerky ang daming pumutok ang buchi. i'm not one of the fashion forward beings but i am definitely patriotic. what she said is unpatriotic hindi porke't naka f21 ka fashyown ka na.
she comes off as pretentious..but then again, she's just a kid. people are blowing it way out of proportion. nakakaawa naman cya. i really don't think she intentionally wanted to diss the philippine fashion industry. she was just being frank, a little ditzy, but at least she was honest enough to answer a potentially inflammatory question.as to the topic of whether we are fashion forward or not, i think we still have a long way to go in terms of style and our own way of dressing. so yes. i agree with her na we are not that fashion forward. though some try, they're often met with sneers and jeers and are thought of as weird. i do applaud certain designers like rajo laurel, amina aranaz , and even mich dulce. they do try. it's just that a majority of the population have a hard time catching up!
This was never a form of cyber bullying. Take the cyber bullying issue to the ones who called her out and lambasted her on twitter. Not here. :)I love your blog Fashion Pulis!
Maybe a lot of people reacts negatively mainly because we've had enough. Our country have been thru a lot of controversies worldwide, Remember Andrew Cunanan who was the suspect of the murdered designer Versace? This shook the Fashion World and caused other people give our country such impression that is unacceptable. However it was completely overlooked now, thanks to our Filipino designers who made it big and still proud of their heritage. We're too sensitive when foreigners talk about our country in a negative way but whenever there's someone who became famous in their own right and we find out that he has a Filipino-blood (even with the slightest percentage)..there we are... parading like clowns just to tell the whole world that: Hey! this famous person is part Filipino! It's not fair. We need balance. We should accept both compliment and negative opinion. If that girl thinks that we're not fashion forward, so be it. Insulting her wouldn't make us any better. We can always do something to prove her wrong other than bashing her. She's immature and not really aware of what is fashion in the PH, (too bad she was the one to represent Asia)... there's nothing we can do but to show the world the there's more to life than fashion.. let's do better on those other aspects instead... and also, there's nothing more demeaning than betraying your fellow country man by stealing their money just to secure a lavish lifestyle.(just my two cents)xo
It is sad reading all the detrimental comments, tweets and hate shout-outs of people, specifically from those who're supposedly more mature and experienced than her. I cannot fathom how celebs and designers themselves spurt such uncensored derogatory remarks to an internet-popular figure. It seems they're either jealous for reasons of her being invited to NY Fashion Week or because of her rising popularity & young age. Or, like what one commenters said, they just don't have tact.I'm not a fan of hers, but I am not quick to publicize criticism/opinions ESPECIALLY if I were, say, already a prominent person in such kind of a community (fashion, high-class, etc). Watching the original clip, I didn't find her opinion to be taken to heart at all. It even sounded like a "safe" word to use when she said "not THAT fashion forward." No big deal, in my opinion. cont...
...cont. Personally, I would say we are generally not fashion forward. Look around you, there are many of the masses who wouldn't care less what they'd wear. We are not like Paris, London or other fashion-centric cities of the world. Does it matter, when most would care more about having a house to live in and food to eat for the day? Do we need to go beyond our simple lifestyle in order to be "in" like what many countries dictate is "best" for or is acceptable of us? Those who are fashion forward are those who can afford or who have an eye or preference for it. Those who would LIKE to dress up and are keen to what fashion dictates. But mostly, the trends are just imitations/copies of what such countries say we must be, and for all matters, it's only for the money because trend & fashion equates to MONEY in their pockets. It's just like Rebecca Black all over again, except, this is only in the scale of our country. All this hate is counter-productive to a society filled with problems (& societal diseases) piling up as we speak.
FP is not cyber bullying! Come on guys, look at the caption above. The objective of this post is very clear-- to get insights if people agree or disagree with TGs statement. Take it easy and not label FP as a cyber bully. That's just unfair.
Please cut her some slack. If anything, in the world of fashion, we as a country parrot more than we peacock.
@Anonymous April 8, 2011 1:27 PM Hindi na bata ang 22 years old!
TG doesn't have power— REAL power— unlike the power of popular celebrities, politicians, designers, bloggers, businessmen. How come when these other people say their opinions regarding the Philippines, people don’t mind and even join IN the bandwagon? And yet when there’s this rising star saying things (ie. “…major, major…” or “…not that fashion forward”) people are quick to lash out on her in the best place there is: the Internet (& popular culture in daily life). She’s not the best and only example of fashion to look up to, either. I have to give it to her, she has her own style, a little on the simple cuts and colors. But the facial image she presents is the “cutesy” type reared for Korea/Japan/China/Taiwan since SHE IS with Chinese blood, which, sadly, is followed by many a fanbase locally and internationally to the extent that she can be positively and negatively influential. And people saying she’s vain, look around, there are more vain blogs and lookbooks than hers. Celebs, blogs, tweets and people agreeing w/ said haters/lashers are just doing nga just what they did with the beauty pageant case. Ayaw makinig sa kanyang stand o kaso. I agree with Stefan. :)
The Philippines is not fashion forward. Here in Manila, madami fashion forward but generally, Philippines is not. Tricia Gosingtian is right. Yung buong Philippines, ok?Girlash
is the philippine fashion forward? yes or no?the answer is NO!period. shes jus telling the truth. mga pinoy talaga, grabe kung mag react.
Given a chance to be on the limelight comes great responsibility. you can choose to put up yourself as high and mighty or put others down.. or choose to speak highly of your country! if you've been around you will say that pinoys are not behind in fashion- industry wise or dressing up! been to several intercountry mtgs conventions etc since I was in university.. and my co delegates are amazed on how proper and stylish the pinoys are! and I'm proud to say that I am Pinoy
id love to comment but i wont, never heard of her.jd
ah huh...majority of pinoys are not fashion forward. its true. but what can one expect of a third world country? to some pinoy fahionistas it may sting a bit, but then again that is not essential....
Mike, this is off topic, but why don't you make a post/poll regarding thrift clothes (designer clothes and generic ones)? I just find it very relevant. This topic has been featured in the past week on TV Patrol.
And what is so wrong about not being fashion forward? Should it be a cause for national shame? Nini
if you are comfortable with your own self, it doesn't matter if you're on trend or not.sad to say, majority are not fashion forward kasi nga can't afford. as much as they want to be current with the fad, walang moola pang bili.
I don't get this "chuvaness-bashing" from some of the people who commented here. The points chuvaness raised were quite valid. Some people accuse chuvaness of "cyber-envy"? Hmmm... the woman has: (1) a really happy family life; (2) a great professional/business career; and (3) a huge following. And she's being accused of "cyber-envy" for raising valid points about an issue?!!
Is the Philippines fashion-forward? NO!We follow trends, some designers make collections out of trends, most of the local retail brands follow trends and even shamelessly copy styles from other brands, and almost none dare to break out of TRENDS and make something COMPLETELY ORIGINAL.Yung mga na-offend na socialites, hindi rin naman sila karamihan fashion-forward. They're ALL slaves to what is CURRENT.I'm leaving the personal opinions to the people who have had first hand experience dealing with her.
1)Who is the girl? (Im not being sarcastic but Ive been living in the US for 6 years and I have no clue she is)2) As for being fashion forward, I don't think a whole country (any country) can ever be fashion forward. By virtue of its definition, for someone to be called fashion forward they have to be ahead of the curve. No country can claim that all its people are fashion forward since that would just make everybody equal...no one is really getting ahead.3) Does it really matter if the Philippines is fashion forward or not? In fact it would be a shame if we were. If we were, that means we spent valuable resources on "fashion" instead of feeding our hungry, educating our children, taking care of our elderly. Im glad that fashion is not a priority in the Philippines
She is no fashion authority to talk like that about Philippine Fashion. This issue is just like a fart, foul enough to be noticed but not important enough to dwell into. She don't matter enough to upset people from the Philippine fashion industry.Goodluck sayo girl. Ang galing at ganda mo kasi eh!
If she were smart, she could have said it in a different way while conveying the same message. She lacks sophistication, depth and maturity. The irony is that she is not fashion forward either. She just follow trends. To be fashion forward, one has to be ahead of the trends.
just the fact that she's saying like a lot of times is a sign na hindi niya na masyadong naiisip yung sinasabi niya because of nerves breakdown. so you people should shut up kasi we all get that at times kapag overwhelming ang moment.
This is the Internet, and we live in a democracy. So to Tricia Gosingtian's fans/supporters/neutral people who side with her, don't think we're just hating. As it is very open. Anyhoo, on to my point:She has a point yes, but I think majority of the critics find discomfort in what she said, not (just) because she is young, but because she herself does not conform to their standards of what is fashion-forward. I'll have to agree with them. I remember browsing LookBook a couple of years back. I saw her there for the first time, then again in Chicosci's MV "What's Your Poison?". Still, I didn't know she was a big star. I didn't know she had a following and was looked up to since her LookBook and apparently, her whole fashion style mirrors the styles found in East Asian catalogs and local store displays. I am critical because what she said was self-serving. And being 22 does not excuse her. I believe that Charice Pempengco is younger but she does not speak this way.Being an internet sensation and number 9 on LookBook as I've read in the comments, does not automatically change the fact that her style is JUST NORMAL and that what she did was self-glorification. She does NOT contribute to local style the way the I Love You Store girls did the first time years ago. In other words, she herself is not that fashion forward. That is what makes her statement discomforting to hear. She could have said something better, that we're improving. She has to take a look around her again, because we are doing that. Oh well, here's to hoping she'll learn from this. That's all.Kori
In a third world country like the Philippines it is hard to be fashion forward... Especially if majority of the population are the masses. I don't think at the economical state we are in right now the masses would mind if they were not part of the statistical population of "fashion forward manille."Although Tricia forgot to mention that their are alot of great talent here and there are "classes" of Manila people that can afford to dress to the nines and there are those who know how to manage what they have and make the most out of it and still look "fashion forward."All I can say is that... Out of her nervousness it resulted to oral diarrhea... But it is not enough to crucify her the way that some are doing... There are fashion forward people here in this country but the majority aren't... So she is right... We give more way to the majority and less to the minority in this case... There for Manila is not that fashion forward counting the economical and social state of our country.
yeah well, if you're fasyon then be happy na lang and don't "brag" *cough* about it! simple right?
WATTA FACE! HAHAHAH! The still pic made me laugh!:))))
what is so funny is that she wears FOREVER 21 (from head to foot!) and claims that the Philippines is NOT fashion forward... FOREVER 21 is known to knock-off their designs and is definitely NOT a fashion forward brand!!! it's like having lunch with Marc Jacobs and carrying a fake speedy...yun lang pow!
Peeps, let us not allow our emotions to get the better of us -- and blow this issue out of proportion.Isa pa, if you have issues against Chuvaness - sabihin nyo sa kanya, not here. She did raise very valid points re: this matter, and to her credit, did not even name the culprit of this whole mess.Another thing, FP just posted a question answerable by a freaking yes or no... Love, love, love...:-)
FP isn't bullying anyone, plus I myself wasn't offended when the girl generalized that the PH isn't fashion forward. All the different people in this archipelago have different priorities; for some, fashion isn't (putting food on the table is). I just hope this incident will remind that girl not to let things get to her head, and that she has to use her BRAIN-- the most important object in your anatomy when making pronouncements like that. Brains never go out of style, dahlin!-Toyang
Agree ako sa wrong choice of words. NAturally kahit Englisera si Tricia, English isn't her first language. leave her be. When i saw the video last February I didn't see anything wrong. The whole PREVIEW team got hurt. Really really hurt. What's so funny was how Raymond Gutierrez said na "no hindi sya sikat", when someone asked if sikat si Tricia. I like Tricia. Am not a fan. Because am no longer forever 21. But the girl is smart and she knows how to market herself. Fashion Pulis i know you have no intention of bullying the girl. I see that crystal clear. But when Raymond commented how pa-cute Tricia was, ka-turn off si lola. Bakya.Tricia handled herself very well, and that's what i like about the girl. She went to New York a happy girl and pag uwi dito intriga ang sumalubong. Kawawa naman yung bata. sorry pero and Pinoy Crab mentality talaga.
She was not nervous in the video. She was smirking.Tricia talks like a wannabe Valley Girl and nothing is more annoying. Saying the word LIKE 80 million times does not make you fashion forward. And I don't get the Chuvaness-bashing either. She has 3 sons and owns a successful restaurant chain. Why would she be jealous of Tricia Gosingtian? Dahil sa Tumblr? I've met Chuvaness and she doesn't seem like a pathetic poser.
ha ha.. Forever 21.. H&M.. LOL.. lanvin.. I think the poor girl is a victim of her own delusion.. Fashion is trendy..She's a fashion Victim Just like the rest of us..
i just wanna make it clear that chuvaness wasnt--- isnt cyberbullying her.
The only one I know whos is fashion forward really is Carine Roitfeun langld or Andre Chang. Yun lang po.. :)
I agree with what Denise said. Raymond Guttierez and his clique are feeling superior. The only reason he's famous is because of his parents. Atleast TG made a name for herself.
Fashion forward tayo. I believe in that. Would you put that first before your basic needs?
RTWs yung mga pinagsusuot niya. how can she be a fashion expert?!?!
It's the first time I heard of this girl and I pity her for being ignorant. I see where she is coming from but her message came out wrong. And i'm disappointed that people consider her a style icon. Top to bottom Forever 21? Ayayay. It seems like hindi nga fashion forward sa Pilipinas! LOLAlso, she's not the only Filipina in the top ten on lookbook. Olivia L. is a Filipina living in SoCal and she has a major following. Now, THAT is a stylish young lady...
I wonder why you didn't approve my comment, Mike. I was civil, reasonable, and made in the same vein as some anonymous posters here. Hmmm...
Must be hard walking around thinking that people hate her. Knowing at the back of everybody's head, people mentally roll their eyes in her presence, even the very people she considers friends.
I find it hard to like, take someone seriously who like, dabbles on cosplay.
like... ummm... like, this... i was so... like.... inis... ;)
I hope this trend doesn't end up like Willie R's announcement -- far from the original issue. Personally, I don't think we are fashion forward. About 51% of the Philippines belong to the poverty/below poverty line and only about 2% belong to those with extra extra moolah to buy clothes from known fashion stores, and not the whole 2% dress to impress. I agree with one of the replies which stated that in the Philippines, we Filipinos usually go for the comfy stuff -- jeans, shirts, flops. A uniform but not really. As for these "fashionistas," Raymond, Solenn, Mitch, I THINK they are merely using this issue for their own publicity. If Tricia used the wrong set of words, so did they. Calling someone a "yaya" or unpopular, such rude comments won't make up for what Tricia did. They just commented like her.I do hope people analyze or at least take time to observe and really ponder on whether or not we are fashion forward. Do you think the so-called "jejemon" fashion is being fashion forward? I'm no fashionista but let's try analyzing before criticizing.Just my two cents. Good day.
I find this blog thread entertaining. :D
PEOPLE, PEOPLE. PLEASE READ HER APOLOGY LETTER ON HER BLOG. Well, I think yung sinabi niya is only a PART of her interview. It's like Q&A. Malay niyo naman she was asked kung bakit siya sikat sa Philippines, and it's just a honest mistake. To the people from Fashion industry and fashion world, sobrang babaw na to para patulan. We have our own styles and thinking naman kasi. It's okay to be offended, actually ang mga naooffend dito is mostly FASHION people, but come to think of it, sobrang konti lang talaga mga fashionista sa Philippines. You can see them at GH GB Rockwell etc. But def. not in divisoria, tutuban or whatsoever places na puro masa.To fashion forward people, I dare you to wear your "fashion" getup sa place na punong puno ng masa. i.e Luneta. You can also have a survey, bilangin mo lahat ng tao sa paligid mo na nakapants, shirt and flipflop lang compared to "fashion forward" people. FOR ALL HER HATERS, KUNG FEELING NIYO KAYO ANG TAMA, KAYO ANG MAGALING, SANA KAYO NA LANG SANA PINAPUNTA SA NEW YORK FOR THAT CONVENTION. BUT NO, SHE WAS PICKED AND THERE MUST BE A REASON FOR THAT. Tsk tsk. People these days, walang magawa. -S
I do not know her but what she said is true. **I do not like the way she talks, though. She's like, like, like, like, like irritating.
Yeah, maybe un nga ung reason! is pra gisingin si tricia sa very narcissistic nyang personality! and i dont think this is mababaw! come on!!! she talked about the fashion thing in the Philippines! "The Philippines" !!!enywho! about her apology on her blog so not sincere!!! i read and heard na after nya pinost un sa blog nya e nagtweet din sya like "are you happy now?" then after a wyl binura rin nya. then she is so being defensive kng bkit nya ito binura kesyo bka daw misinterpret nnmn sya! tlga lng ah...so how will u defend dat tweet? like tricia is saying dat in her very sweet and soft tone? really!? And! before this happened she follows Chuvaness-jiritajackson on twitter, then in-unfollow nya na sa kainitan ng isyu! so anu ibig cbhen ni tricia nun.... mmmmoh well wer in a democratic country! to all tricia fans, fine! defend her! adore her! Lol but for us who doesnt like her sasabihin din nmin ang gusto nmin! so quits lang! :))
fashion forward is....1. constantly wearing fashionable clothes etc!2. with a strong sense of style!3. who can afford to update d looks!4. majority of the population is fashion concious! so.... the answer is NO!philippines isn't a fashion forward country!!!
at least,,,,, 10% buys at adora, homme et femme etc. 20% buys at forever 21, topshop, zara etc. 70% buys at SM, divisoria,ukay2 etc. and even this 10% doesn't even know how to rock a look,,,how can you call that fashion forward?
THE ANSWER IS NO! THE PHILIPPINES IS NOT A FASHION FORWARD, BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION IS POOR AND WE ARE IN THE TROPICAL COUNTRY SO IT'S DIFFICULT TO BE IN FASHION BECAUSE MOST OF OUR DEISGNERS GET THEIR IDEAS FROM FOREIGN DESIGNERS. SO I CAN SAY THAT WE FOLLOW THE TREND AND WHAT'S IN BUT DEFINETELY WE'RE NOT FASHION FORWARD. BUT THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO ARE NOT INTO TREND BUT THEY CARRY THEMSELVES BEAUTIFULLY BECAUSE THEY KNOW HOW TO DRESS PROPERLY.
Haha! Pathetic. Well she's right. Most Filipinos aren't fashion forward but she doesn't have to go like like .."Not so much people like my picture! They're so not fashion forward! HUHU!" She is a trivial person and if you like to dress up, that's great, if you feel like wearing just shorts or jeans and tshirt, it's up to you. Don't tell me we'll be damned if we missed an hour wearing stilletos.Anyway, the remix is good, but not her message :P
true we are not fashion forward.but theres one pinoy who is. thats kuya boy abunda. i like his fashion sense kahit pa all leather suot nya. mitch dulce really said that...thats not nice. i like her pa naman.
BUT THE PHILIPPINES IS REALLY NOT FASHION FORWARD AS A WHOLE! I mean yea, I understand we have our share of great designers and fashionitas, but look at the rest of the country naman! I do not get the outrage I think her comment was just blown out of proportion. I do not think she meant to say that there are no good designers or whatever in the Philippines, I think she only meant to say that the Filipino people are well, mostly not that into fashion. IT IS TRUE. Our country is more than 70% poor-middle class. We are not expected to be fashion forward. Yes, (to Solen, Raymond Gutierrez etc.)in your crowd or scene there might be lot of fashionable people, but keep in mind that you are a very small minority. MINISCULE, in comparison to the how many millions who are not like you. Try commuting and you will see that there are very few fashion forward people. Heck, I study in Ateneo and we are supposedly the "upper-rank" kids in our society who can afford to be fashionable. People here do not walk around like everyday is a fashion show. Sure there are fashionable people here, but still they are a minority. I think most Filipinos have comfort in mind rather than fashion. I do not get the outrage. So, Filipinos are not that fashion-forward, SO WHAT??? It just means we have bigger concerns as a nation aside from fashion.
Philippines is not fashion forward. but definitely, i believe that the most talented designers are the filipinos.now, who can tell the percentage or ranking of those who likes fashion in the Philippines. and who are interest? thanks anyways!
One word: TSINELAS. That's why were not fashion forward.
don't know her and i will not prosper even if i do
don't know her and will not take time to do so. if only she's Michael Cinco or Monique Lhuillier or Josie Natori..
I'm not a fan or anything but what she said is very true. IT'S NOT LIKE THE PHILIPPINES IS FASHION FORWARD anyway. I mean do you actually consider human, bench, penshoppe and all these jeje brands FASHION FORWARD? Sure,Monique Lhuillier and a hella lot of high fashion designers are out there. But she's talking about the PHILIPPINES as a whole. Its not like you'll see majority of people walking down the street wearing nice outfits. I'll admit that what she said: "That's why I get a lot of attention" is a bithcy thing to say. Everyone probably doesn't like her because of how she said her statement
Comfortable wedge sneakers is a must for everyone. They can comfort your feet and make you more confident.
Tricia Gosingtian is just a Japanese wannabe anyway.
