My client together with all the victims of abuses by public figures, such as Mr. Tony Labrusca, are happy that the City Prosecutor of Makati City led by Chief Dindo Venturanza had found probable cause to file criminal charges against Mr. Labrusca for Acts of Lasciviousness. The resolution released on October 21, 2021 by Assistant Prosecutor Marc Jeremiah Garcia as approved by Deputy City Prosecutor Henry Salazar is a vindication of my client’s version of the incident that happened on that night. My client’s claim contradicts the lies concocted by Mr. Labrusca and his counsels by trying to blame the victim for what happened to her rather than own up to what he had criminally done. This victim-blaming scheme conveniently used by these abusers should neither be tolerated nor it be, in the slightest chance, permitted to be conventionalized by these powerful and abusive men who prey on women, such as our client.
The filing of the charge in court is the first stage in our client’s quest for justice. Like other victims of abuse, she would still need to endure and persevere in this quest by recalling all the traumatic acts done to her for a few more years until the trial is concluded. Nevertheless, she is hopeful that the news of Mr. Labrusca eventually getting what he deserves would encourage other women and anyone victimized by Mr. Labrusca and other public figures whether sexual or otherwise, not to be afraid to stand up and be heard. The government through offices, such as the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati City with its courageous army of prosecutors, are competent instruments of justice and allies of the #metoo movement.

A court in La Union junked the drug charge against Julian Ongpin, son of Marcos-time trade secretary and business tycoon Roberto "Bobby" Ongpin.
Prosecutor General Ben Malcontento confirmed the decision, and said the Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecution will file a motion for reconsideration.
The local court also lifted the precautionary hold departure order (PHDO) against the Ongpin scion.
Ongpin was caught with more than 12 grams of cocaine when his hostel room in La Union was inspected by the local police after his companion, artist Bree Jonson, was found dead there.
The La Union police did not arrest Ongpin even though being caught with illegal drugs is a valid ground for warrantless arrest.
The DOJ's state prosecutors eventually charged Ongpin. Possession of 12 grams of cocaine is a non-bailable offense under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, but a warrant of arrest was not issued by the La Union Court, instead it dismissed the case in the said decision.
The La Union Regional Trial Court Branch 27 junked the charge for failure of the local police to follow the law's rule on how to preserve and mark the evidence in drug cases.
According to Branch 27 Judge Romeo Agacita, the police did not immediately mark the sachets of cocaine when they were seized on September 18.
The judge said the police merely marked the two pouches containing the cocaine, and not the sachets itself.
"It could not, therefore, be determined how the unmarked drugs were handled upon confiscation. Evidently, the alteration of the seized items was a possibility absent their immediate marking thereof," said the 12-page decision promulgated Monday, November 15.
In 2018, the Supreme Court in the landmark decision People vs Lim directed that drug cases that did not follow the proper preservation of evidence shall be dismissed.
The decision was also seen as a way to avoid situations where cops can plant evidence in the bloody drug war, President Rodrigo Duterte's centerpiece campaign now being investigated by the International Criminal Court for extrajudicial killings.
It now benefits a billionaire's scion, where the judge said the police cannot enjoy presumption of regularity.
"Presumption of regularity does not apply if proper procedure is not observed," said the judge.
There were also no required witnesses like a representative of the DOJ or a member of the media.
"No earnest effort was shown to comply with the provision of Section 21 of RA 9165; the saving clause under Section 21 finds no application considering the glaring non-compliance of the law," said Judge Agacita.
The judge also noted that Ongpin was not present when his hostel room was inspected and where the cocaine was seized.
"As such, the chain of custody rule was patently violated," said the judge. – Rappler.com

During the wedding preparation, Meticulous Personality (MP) made sure every detail on the special day would be perfect. From the flowers in the ceremony venue to the setup at the reception, MP gave input. Of course, one of the items MP considered was food.
An attraction of going to a wedding is the food that would be served to the guests. MP was aware of the importance of food and avoided the possibility of not having enough for the guests. Besides, the caterer was among the best suppliers. The guests were carefully chosen and MP did not want to disappoint them.
As the reception was about to end, MP asked the caterer about the food. The caterer said the food was still plenty. MP assumed that the guests could have eaten prior to attending the reception. Wedding attendees are aware that the time between the celebrating of the ceremony and the serving of food can take a couple of hours. The guests were close to the families involved and thus, attended because of the couple.
MP instructed the caterer and the help to pack the leftovers and load the filled containers to their van. After a few minutes after the packing of leftovers, non-family Celebrity Friend (CF) came along with a bag of empty containers. CF told the waiter to place the leftovers in her containers. The waiter could only scratch his head and told CF that MP beat her to it and the containers have been loaded in the van. CF went home empty-handed. Of course, asking MP for leftover food would be embarrassing. Perhaps, MP knew the guest list very well and anticipated the possible outcome of the leftover food if no action will be done ahead.

Like other female celebrities who have kept skeletons in their closets, Pretty Celebrity (PC) has her own secret. PC has built a positive image for herself with her various projects and initiatives. She has gained the respect of her fandom and other curious members of the public. However, PC allegedly has an explosive secret narrative that might change her current image.
Years ago, PC made an unusual pact with a Well-meaning Family member (WF) of Hardworking Man (HM). WF found out that PC was the kept woman of HM. Instead of going ballistic as HM was unfaithful, high goals prevailed. WF was concerned over the reputation of HM if the scandal were to be revealed. Thus, WF calmly talked to PC. PC welcomed the gesture and said that she herself did not want her pregnancy leaked to the public.
WF arranged for a secret birth in a hospital out of the city. As soon as PC gave birth, the baby was brought to a province to be raised. PC was unable to see her baby then.
Meanwhile, HM was aware of the arrangement and that included for PC to stop seeing him. PC did not keep to that part of the deal and continued to see him. HM would bring PC to see their lovechild, but PC is not keen on being introduced as the mother.

When Tarrying Talent (TT) was handed a script for a project, she scrutinized the cast. Then, TT made a comment that shocked the producer. She said some cast members do not have star quality. TT suggested asking an Industry Player (IP) to hire some of its talents who can surely attract the audience.
The producer responded by reminding TT that the situation has changed. IP might have been generous before but the times are different. Circumstances have made many talent managers hang-on to their talents unless the deal is worth it. Moreover, the talents TT suggested will not be shared by IP and the only way to get them is to offer lucrative packages to lure them away. Such is impossible at this time.
Meanwhile, the staff questioned the pickiness of TT. Allegedly, they have observed that TT is taking too much time before deciding on a project. While others are desperate for work, TT has received compensation and only has to give the go-signal for the cameras to roll. Besides, TT should be the one to make the adjustments to co-workers, who are not out to steal the attention from lead stars anyway. TT’s co-workers and production team need to work and most of them are on a no-work, no-pay status. Although timing is a consideration, sometimes grapes can age into vinegar instead of wine and the delays might affect TT’s stance later on.
