When Homegrown Talent (HT) was discovered by her network, the management realized her potential to make a change in their programming. HT was bound to be a star and not only was the management keen on making her one, her elders were set to make sure they project the child’s interest.
For HT, at that time, her young career was all about having fun. Although she was earning, her family went on defensive mode every time they were criticized as making HT as their milking cow. Her siblings had their own careers and thought that HT was doing what she wanted and they did not have to take advantage of it. In fact, none of her siblings entered the limelight. However, her elders thought otherwise, and Family Head (FH) quit his career to focus on HT.
As years passed, FH was always present at the affairs of HT. FH became a familiar face and negotiations for HT had to pass through him. Every peso HT earned was handled by FH. Rumors have it that HT’s finances were controlled by FH, which was advantageous as many of her contemporaries handled their finances and did not do quite well. Nonetheless, FH was not free from critics and was accused of depriving HT the enjoyment of her earnings.
Years passed and the career of HT followed the usual curve. After peaking, her career went down steadily, but rose again. These days, HT is enjoying the perks of having a family and living the way she wants. Meanwhile, FH has long retired and lives separately from HT.
Just as every one is adjusting to the effects of the pandemic, netizens were shocked at a post of FH asking for financial assistance from the local government. In the public post, FH cited the economic downtrend that has placed their business in the red. What shocked the netizens was the statement that FH did not want to bother their children, which includes HT. FH claims that the children already have lives of their own and FH does not want to be a burden. Thus, netizens wondered if all is not well between FH and HT and the other children. Posting in public and asking for financial assistance can be embarrassing for HT and bashers might start accusing her of being an ingrate.

Landing work in a top organization and gaining the opportunity to learn from the industry’s best can make any newbie’s dreams come true. Getting into any of the networks is highly competitive and certain expectations are raised in applying to the public affairs department. However, one starts at the bottom of the ladder to gain familiarity and eventually move up based on experience and quality of work. Moreover, along the way, many kinds of bosses will be encountered and they could make or break an employee’s spirit.
Before any program is aired on television, much planning is involved and the heads are meticulous as their names are at stake. Besides, ratings need to be convincing as well. The rigidness and usually irate disposition of Department Leader (DL) has caused pressure and panic among the staff. Rumors have it that DL does not hesitate to throw things if a staff’s performance is not satisfactory. Thus, the staff would rather stay away from DL as much as possible. Little did they know that they benefitted from that attitude at the time of the pandemic.
Somewhere along the way, DL became infected with covid-19. DL wanted to keep the situation a secret to protect the privacy. After all, celebrities can take much attention once the public finds out they are ill. Although DL want to hush up the predicament, the management had to be informed for the sake of the staff and other co-workers with whom DL might have come in close contact.
The management immediately took action and had the staff and other employees tested. The results of DL’s staff were all negative. They could only smile and joke about the fact that the irate attitude of DL actually made social distancing popular in their area even before it became protocol. Given that DL can be easily irked, the staff minded their own work and indeed, avoiding DL proved beneficial. Meanwhile, DL has gone home and is healing from the infection.

However, FC seemed to have been over-eager in her project that she allegedly even called a news department for her to be featured. She wanted viewers to be inspired with her project. These days, every one wants to watch real stories of delivering good news regardless of status. In case of celebrities, their gestures would invite bashers regardless of the goal they have set. If they do not show proof of joining efforts to help, bashers will question why they are silent. For FC, she would proceed with her schedule.
On the day of distribution, which she said was for the poor in the nearby communities, many were shocked. The citizens waited, thinking that FC was going to help every family. However, her system was different and disappointing. FC only distributed goods to people who supported someone close to her during the last elections. The other areas who did not vote for that personality did not receive any goods from FC. The segregated action did not escape the crowd that thought kindness would not discriminate. They were wrong, as FC was choosy and showed to their non-supporters what she and team can do. Consequently, FC and her team were booed, which, of course, was edited out in her own video coverage. Unfortunately, FC overlooked that constituents will remember such selective distribution in case someone tries politics again.
