Seeking Rewards

Like other local actors who grew up abroad, Handsome Actor (HA) realized early that success in the local arena means being able to speak and understand Filipino. Having an attractive physique and face as well as interesting background are insufficient to attract fans and sustain a career. HA knew that he had to learn to speak without a foreign accent that he acquired during his growing up years in a country far from the tropics.

HA got his break when a network spotted him, but time proved his roles were limited based on his skin color. As he still had his accent, casting him with the network’s leading ladies proved difficult, as his role had to fit his looks. Thus, his career was in the freezer, which he could not afford, as he was assisting his family living abroad. Lucky for him, he met his Future Manager (FM), who managed to offer him deals that could match his capability. Soon, he moved networks and faced new challenges. While he had established name recall, he could only land supporting roles, whereby his earnings were too meager to support his lifestyle and that of his family.

Without FM’s knowledge, HA started to play the field with moneyed women and gays. As FM has an extensive network, he eventually found out the dealings of HA. FM told him to be patient with his projects, but HA said he was not getting younger and he needs to make sure his family will always have their needs answered. Finally, FM said that if his network finds out about his private dealings, his career will surely be cut. After waiting for a time, HA requested FM to send feelers to his former network. However, FM was told that the station has no more space for HA, as they already have an influx of mixed-race talents with a similar situation as HA’s.

HA had no choice but to stay put in his current network. His projects were still limited and he needed to do something. HA decided to drop his booking ideas and instead, concentrated on finding a rich woman who understand him and can help him with his financial needs. He is indeed fortunate, as he managed to meet such woman, who’s young, understanding, and rich. Thus, even if he seems to be hardly seen in front of the cameras these days, he’s spending quality time with his partner.
