Owning a designer bag like Birkin or an Hermes has become a status symbol among certain people, with showbiz personalities topping the list. Instagram, Facebook, and other social networking sites are full of photos of these personalities posing with their bags. Some celebrities are praised with their taste and are spared criticisms when the public knows that the bags were bought from hard-earned money. However, critics are a plenty and taunt celebrities with comments like the bags are too classy for them or that they are merely riding on the trend.
One time, Witty Host (WH) saw that an Enterprising Pal (EP) from her social network was selling pre-owned designer bags from an Asian country. As WH has always dreamed of owning one, she contacted EP who gave her an acceptable price for the bag. WH grabbed the deal and soon, she was bringing and showing off the bag during her functions. She even told friends that she had to wait for months for her bag to arrive.
A month later, some stitches got loose, and WH contacted the shop where she can have her bag repaired. When the expert examined the bag, WH was told that the shop could not do anything, as the bag was fake! WH even argued with the expert and insisted that her bag was authentic. When the expert showed proof that the bag was a rip-off, WH was dumbfounded.
WH immediately contacted EP to return the bag. As predicted, EP was nowhere to be found, and WH realized that she was duped for a six-figure amount. For WH, the amount comes from hard work. Unlike other celebrity-owners of designer bags, WH is not as visible on television or in the movies, but she is a favorite host for corporate events and other similar live shows. While WH belongs to the few celebrities who finished college with honors, her intelligence was not put to good use when it comes to coveting expensive things.
