Halitosis

According to www.qualitydentistry.com, halitosis is an oral health condition wherein someone produces an offensive odor from his/her oral or nasal regions. This odorous breath cannot be simply eliminated through normal oral hygiene techniques, such as flossing or brushing.

Some possible causes of halitosis include food intake, poor oral health care, periodontal disease, xerostomia (dry mouth), use of tobacco products and other medical conditions. This disease knows no boundaries when it comes to age, sex, race, or socioeconomic levels. It can be truly embarrassing and this is why many patients are reluctant to even mention the problem to either their physician or dentist.

A Ballpark Figure of the Model's Debt

This model and his family members were renting an apartment in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. One day, they just decided to leave the apartment and transfer to another one without settling the unpaid rent and utilities. The landlord was furious with what they did and is currently looking at the possibility of filling a legal case against them.

This might come as a surprise to some of you but this model does have a history of not fulfilling his obligations. A few years ago when he had a gambling problem, his debt to his female manager piled up to more than one million pesos. After closing an endorsement deal for him, she was able to get back five hundred thousand pesos but the remaining balance of more than seven hundred thousand pesos has not been settled till this day. When he finally realized that he will never ever be able to pay off his debt to her, he decided to leave her. He left her house taking with him her Italian bed, her Egyptian cotton bed sheets and their dog. While she tried running after him to get back her things, he started telling common friends that she was stalking him.

Apart from the model, his mother also borrowed one hundred thousand pesos from the manager and never paid her back. She likes to borrow money from people to be able to help her other financial challenged relatives to make her family look big time.

The Handsome Rhino

If a cougar is an older woman who exclusively pursues men who are at least ten years younger, then a rhino (short for rhinoceros) is an older man who prefers dating younger women. The term rhino was used because this particular breed of animal is more often than not both horny and ugly. However, I must say that not all rhinos are ugly. There are many men who have managed to age gracefully, such as this veteran actor involved in this story.

He is a well respected veteran actor in the country. Many young actors look up to him as their role model. Through the years, he has maintained the image of a good family man and an ideal religious group leader. Recently, in spite of his positive image, a rumor that he is head over heels over a foreign looking girl form the south who is ten years younger than he has been surfacing. His behavior definitely qualifies him as a rhino, a handsome one though.

This rhino has been visiting the south rather frequently and has been spotted with his beautiful young girlfriend. People close to his wife have already dropped hints about her husband’s extracurricular activities but she refused to believe them. Let me remind his ideal wife that there’s no smoke without fire.

Fashion Designer = Tracing + Retagging?

When this client went to the store of this female designer to have a dress made, she was advised by her to go through the rack and check if there was anything she liked on display. The client found a dress that fitted her perfectly so she gladly purchased it from the designer at a reasonable price.

A few weeks later, the same client went back to the designer to order for another dress. This time around since she could not find anything that suited her taste from the display, she requested for the designer to sketch something for her. Instead of sketching from scratch, the designer brought out a Manila paper filled with different dress designs and began tracing using onion skin paper. When they eventually agreed on the final design and the material to be used, the designer got the 50% down payment from the client and left her with one of the seamstresses to take her measurements.

After a week or two, the client was asked to go back to the store to pick up the dress. She was very disappointed when she fitted it. It did not fit her well so she politely pointed out the problem areas. The designer agreed to make the necessary changes and requested her to just come back for it. Three days later, she was invited back to the store just to be greeted by a dress that was never altered at all. The designer apologized and requested her to give her another week. A week later the dress was still a disaster so the client informed the designer that she will not be paying for the remaining balance. She left the dress with the designer and promised herself never to go back to that store.

When this client got home, she immediately went to her closet to look for the dress that she bought off the rack from the designer. She was wondering why that dress fitted her so perfectly. Upon careful examination, she noticed that there were tiny perforations surrounding the label of the designer. It was only then that she realized that the designer had the original bigger tag removed and replaced it with her tag that was apparently smaller.

The sexual preference of this sweet actress has been in question for many years. In the past, she had a relationship with a female colleague from the same network who incidentally committed suicide after their separation. According to the people close to this person, she was extremely depressed after the actress left her so she decided to end her life.

Recently, this actress has been rumored to be dating an actor from the same network. This actor used to be the boyfriend of another actress who also belong to the same network. Is this love affair a publicity stunt to reassure the actress’ fans of her sexuality?

According to a source, the current love interest of this actress is in fact a female director and not the actor. If this is the case, this actress is certainly trying to confuse all of us. Is it the actor, the female director or both? Is she straight, gay or bi? Your guess is as good as mine.

The Actor's Assistant: Case Closed =)

I am happy to be back in Manila. There is really no place like home. When I was in Europe, a friend of mine from Laoag sent me a text message regarding a story she received from Twitter about the problem of The Actor's Assistant.  Yesterday, this friend of mine updated me through a text message informing me that the problem of the PA has finally been solved. After hearing the good news, I got in touch with source of the story and this was the message I received. 

Dear Fashion PULIS, 

I would just like to express our deepest gratitude to you. If not for the blind item entitled The Actor's Assistant you posted in your blog, the personal assistant (PA) of the actor wouldn't have gotten out of the hospital. Your blog site (which I check daily) is not only entertaining, it also helps voiceless people. I have introduced your blog to my friends and now they are hooked like me. Congratulations! In a short span of time you gained a considerable number of followers. More power to your blog and may you continue to help other people.

After receiving her message, I asked her a few questions to clarify some of the comments that our readers have posted.

Q: There was a reader who said that the actor does not have a PA. Is he the driver?
A: RIGHT HAND MAN may be the more appropriate term. He takes care of actor's money. Apparently, he helps the actor collect money from well-known people and deposit the money. Sometimes, he drives for the actor but he is definitely not the driver, more of  a "KATIWALA".  He is also acts as the liaison officer for his other businesses. In fact, this actor has 2 right hand men. The one in the story is A and the other is J. It is not true that A received a house from the actor as your reader has commented. He used to live in the house of the actor.

Q: Who was the one who gave the cash to the PA's family? Do you know how much was given?
A: The wife, on behalf of the actor, was the one who gave the money to the family members. She gave 50% of the amount and even helped the family members obtain the other 50% from charitable institutions. Kudos to them!

Q: How is the condition of the PA? 

A: Unfortunately, it is Stage 4 Colon Cancer. In fairness to the doctors in the said hospital where he was transferred to, they did not charge the PA's family right and left thinking that the actor will be the one to shoulder the expenses. The doctors just performed an operation that was really necessary and did not do other expensive invasive procedures since the PA's family informed them that they are under financial constraint.

Letter from a Reader: Wanna Join Us?

Dear Fashion Pulis,

I am writing you to share a story and get the opinions/reactions of your readers as well. One Saturday night, my friends and I went to this famous dance club in Malate because we haven't been there for a long time. My friends who were with me are mostly VIPs (famous personalities/loyal clients/friends of the shareholders) of this club so they brought me to the VIP lounge on the second floor.

A couple of drinks later, while my friends were dancing and enjoying the good music, I noticed a familiar looking person looking at me in the lounge. A few minutes later, he walked towards me and introduced himself. He went on asking "Who do you think is the hottest guy that you want to have sex with in this room right now?" I was shocked to hear this from him because I noticed that his partner was just a few meters away. I told him politely that I was just there to enjoy the music and have fun with some good friends. Attempting to change the topic, I pointed to his partner and said, "Isn't he your partner? You are the design duo who owns this store in a mall, right?" He immediately called his partner and introduced me to him. After the brief introduction, the partner went back to his friends. When I was left alone with him again, he asked me, "Are you more of a giver or a receiver? Would you like to join us in bed? I am feeling hot right now." I panicked after hearing his questions and I simply said, "I am sorry but I have to go back to my friends now. It was really nice talking to you." 

Call me a hopeless romantic but in my opinion, when a person (guy or girl) is committed to someone, he/she must not enter into casual encounters with others. I just felt weird that he asked me to join him and his partner for a three way. I hope I am not being judgmental and I hope this will not offend your readers. I just need to know what your readers think about having a casual encounter with a couple.

The Kept Woman: Reality Star Turned Mistress

This actress was an alumna of a prestigious reality television show. When she graduated from the show and eventually joined show business, her superb acting skills immediately caught the attention of many industry critics. She was tagged as one of the most promising talents in her batch and that is why many were shocked when she decided to end her acting stint abruptly. According to her, she left the limelight because she wanted to live a simple normal life.

The irony here is that her life was never really simple after she quit the business. On the contrary, her lifestyle became sophisticated and glamorous. Overnight, she transformed from a simple girl from the North into a posh globe-trotter who only wore designer clothes. How did this happen?

The answer is very simple. Instead of working, she opted to be the kept women of a wealthy controversial public servant who has an ill reputation both in the Philippines and overseas. Together, they had a good run until many new girls started to enter the picture. This gave the reality star an excuse to end her relationship with him. Perhaps, the real reason behind was she has saved enough money that is why she opted to move on. Recently, this actress has been staging a comeback by accepting minor roles in movies and television shows. No one dared to dig up her past because she is being protected by her manager who is rather influential in the industry.

The Fashion Betrayal

I am currently in Paris enjoying the last two days of our European trip. I am so tired from walking and shopping but I promised myself to post a new story before I go to bed. By the way, I already bought the Longchamp Le Pliage Tote that will be raffled away when I get home.

Paris is known as the fashion capital of the world. Designers all over the world move to Paris to pursue their careers in fashion. I am sure many of you are familiar with the Italian designer, Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavni. In his younger days, Valentino moved to Paris to study at the École des Beaux-Arts and at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. He also did his apprenticeship under several French fashion houses before going back to Italy to start his own atelier.

Valentino is known for his elegant and timeless dresses. This is why he is the favorite of many international celebrities. His dresses can be very expensive and I can only think of a few women in Manila who are willing to invest on a Valentino dress. This certain Filipina fashion icon/actress loved her one of her Valentino dresses so much that she requested her trusted designer to create something similar exclusively for her. The final product was up to her standard and she was very pleased with the designer until she saw someone else at an event, wearing a dress similar to hers. She later discovered that the designer was selling her exclusive design to all her other clients. The fashion icon/actress was very disappointed. She felt betrayed by the designer and from then on, she stopped patronizing her. In my opinion, this was a big loss on the designer's part.

More than knowing the identity of this designer, this story should serve as a lesson for all us who are doing business. When we promise something to our client, we should make sure that we are able to fulfill this promise. At the end of the day, a good name is better than riches.

I prefer the Sac de Voyage Hermes Haut a Courroie (HAC) 40cm over the Hermes Birkin 40cm. I think this size of this bag is more suited for my built. I only have one HAC in Thalassa Blue and I have been wanting to buy another one. When I went to the Hermes Flagship Store in Fauborg St. Honore this afternoon, I felt an adrenalin rush  when I spotted these three Hermes HAC 40 cm in the display window. Unfortunately, according to the sales associate, these pieces are not for sale. She does even know their selling prices. I was even more disappointed when she told me that Hermes stopped producing the HAC since last year. Sigh!

From Malta to Gozo

The bus system in Malta is very efficient. From where the fountain is, we took Bus No. 45 to Cirkewwa. It cost us .47 Euro and more than an hour to get there. We took the ferry from Cirkewa to Gozo. It was a 20 minute sail.

The Gozo Sightseeing Bus toured us around Gozo for more than two hours. The visit to the Ggantia Temples was the highlight of our trip to Gozo.

The Ggantija Temples or otherwise known as the Megalithic Temples of Malta are the oldest free-standing structures on Earth. They were built 1000 year before Egypt's pyramid and 2000 years before the United Kingdom's Stonehenge.

After sailing back to Malta, we took Bus No. 62 from Valletta to have dinner in Paceville, St. Jillian. This is where you can enjoy the nightlife in Malta

An Afternoon in Malta's Valletta

We arrived in Malta last April 24, 2011. Our hotel was located in Valletta, the capital of Malta. Although it was a five star hotel, I was disappointed that the rooms did not have Internet connection. I had to update my blog from the hotel's lobby and the connection was very slow that is why I was not able to post these photos immediately.

Valletta is a World Heritage site. The city is like an open-air museum with numerous Baroque architectures. It has many quaint cafés and bars that made the city one of Malta’s main tourist attractions. Let me share some of the photos I took on an Easter afternoon while walking around this World Heritage site.

The Actor's Assistant

I am currently in Valletta, Malta. It's almost 12:00 am and we just got back from Gozo. I have a 6:00 am flight to Paris so I am going to keep this story short and straight to the point. Our room does not have an internet connection so I am writing the story from the hotel's lobby.

This personal assistant (PA) has been loyally serving his actor boss for more than ten years. Recently he has been confined in a hospital in Manila because of colon cancer. When the actor found out about this, he instructed the family members to transfer him to a better hospital in San Juan. The family members thought that the actor was going to foot the bill so they followed his instruction. When the hospital bill already reached more than 300,000 Php, the family members approached him for financial assistance. They were surprised when he handed them a small amount of money and  advised them to just write the hospital a promissory note. He even told them that there is nothing that the hospital can do in the event that they do not fulfill their obligation.

Letter from a Reader: For the Love of My Boyfriend

Dear Fashion PULIS,

I am Chal. I went to DLSU but you were never my professor. Anyway, I would like to share a story with you and your readers. I was doing some research on this designer and I came across your blog. I wouldn't really have shared this story about him if he changed his ways. However, things are really getting worse.

This designer did my wedding gown a few years back and I still love it up to this day. That was how I knew him. So when the Taiwanese friend of my mom, Toni, was looking for a Filipino designer to do his line of gowns in Japan & Europe called Vita Bella, I thought of him. When I contacted him, he immediately responded so I set him an appointment with my mom and Toni.

Toni would ask our travel agency to arrange this designer's trip to China. Apart from his ticket, he would make Toni pay for his boyfriend's ticket and tell Toni that he is the assistant. In China, his boyfriend would just lie around and make Toni pay for meals. The scenario became worse when the designer asked for a credit line from our travel agency for the extra tickets he was purchasing. I declined nicely because I have already read about him in your blog. One time, he even gave us a check for his boyfriend's ticket only to have someone inform us the following day that the check belonged to him and he was the real assistant. This means that he was using the assistant's money to pay for the boyfriend's ticket.

Things became worse a few weeks ago when a fashion show was held in Manila Peninsula. Coincidentally, Toni was invited to watch the fashion show and he requested our agency to book a room for him. The designer was also part of the show and he might have received a complimentary room from either the hotel or the organizers. My contact from the Manila Peninsula informed me that the designer's assistant approached the reservation staff and advised them that they will be extending an extra night courtesy of Toni. Toni was very upset upon checking out because he discovered what the designer did without asking his permission. The poor Taiwanese guy spoke little English but he had a good understanding as to what was happening. It is very sad because Toni believed in the Filipino talent he has already invested close to a million on this designer. My mom also told me that the designer never returned the gowns he borrowed from Toni that were used in the fashion show. The Manila Peninsula found a few gowns left in the designer's room when he checked out.

I'm writing you this letter to warn your readers. I really believe in the designer's talent and I feel so sad that he is ruining his career all for the love of his boyfriend. I hope that one day he apologizes to me, to my mom and most specially, to Toni.

Oops! That's My.....

After recuperating from his surgery, this television personality reported back to work in high spirits. He was very excited to show the photos he took in the hospital to his colleagues. While he was talking to one of the show's producers, he started scrolling through his iPhone and explaining the procedure that was performed on him. He presented the photos of the tubes that were inserted in the different parts of his body. He kept talking and scrolling through the phone until suddenly he froze in shock. He forgot that he also took a photo of his private part while he was in the hospital. After a few seconds of silence, he suddenly blurted out "ay, _ _ _ _ ko pala yan!" The two of them simply burst into laughter.

It is Easter Sunday so I thought of sharing something funny with all of you. May all have a Happy Easter! I will be off to Malta in a few hours.
