Professionalism & Creativity in Question

The Seasoned Designer (SD) allegedly is stirring controversy again within the hushed confines of the fashion industry. SD is not new to controversy as he was caught some time ago conducting unethical practices with other creators’ garments.

What other fashion industry practitioners wonder about SD are, first, SD is a multi-awarded designer and recognized for his achievements, and second, SD seems to have never learned his lesson, that is, to stay within boundaries. Over the years, SD built his reputation by taking the most out of his past and transforming the negative experiences into positive ones. Perhaps the pressure to build up his name could have led to certain unscrupulous practices that are frowned at by practitioners.

Despite his actions, SD remains a top designer in the local and international markets. Hence, the recent issue is making waves along the grapevine. SD apparently offered Fellow Designer (FD) to ghost design for him. The offer placed into question how much SD looked down on FD. FD isn’t a run-of-the-mill creator. He already has an impressive track record and established his name in the crowded fashion industry. Thus, FD refused the offer.

The audacity of SD to ask FD to design for him and taking the credit ethical issues that shouldn’t be taken lightly. After all, the fashion industry thrives on originality and such a practice can damage the reputation of designers in the long run.
