Just an Illusion

Sometime ago, Mr. Cool (MC) met with Known Actor (KA) to learn from his wisdom and insights about the entertainment industry. MC was eager to talk to KA, who was years ahead in terms of experience and connections. Given that they have common friends, the rapport and subsequent friendship were easily established. KA gave acting tips and MC shared insights about fixing relationships. That was it.

Meanwhile, stories often have other versions regardless of the person who tells the narrative first. While a version is relayed, other people would have reactions and even their own versions. Unfortunately, no one can control how other people would react.

When MC was asked in private about how he deals with stories about him, he told his team not to bother and gave his usual non-reactive behavior. Mud and stones can be thrown at him, but MC would rather remain calm. Allegedly, MC said that stories were just illusions. After all, he said he’s the only one who knows himself best. However, MC felt disappointed at the way things are being presented and monetized. His concern was the effect on his family more than anything else.

MC further expressed that he understood that the pandemic had led people to seek means to earn, but he hoped such ways would not equate to using others. If one needed financial help, one could ask without being negative towards another.

Really Mean

What one posts in social media can be interpreted by viewers as the user’s true self and thereby create an impression that can last forever. Usually, when the user has calmed down, he/she will say that the post is just him/her being real and is not his/her real personality. Hence, people who only see such posts will forgive and move on.

By contrast, people who have had actual encounters with people who post mean videos are the best ones who can say what or who is real. Like many social media users, Distraught Personality (DP) used her account to express an issue that many felt should have been left in private. However, as a celebrity, DP probably felt that sharing a bit of her life in public is called for, given her status.

Viewers of DP’s posts were divided between sympathizing with her and shaking their heads over her attitude. Allegedly, DP is not exactly Miss Congeniality, as she can be mean behind the scenes. Only actual people experience the true personalities of celebrities during moments when cameras cannot capture their movement.

In one of her shows, DP would allegedly scream at production staff, which made them feel that she seems to be the one giving them their salary. DP is a talent and like them, is paid by the same producers. In addition, DP does not want anyone to stand in her way, as she would push such staff aside. For newbies working with the production, DP made their work memorable out of her being nasty. They are no longer surprised why DP’s life events are not exactly turning out perfectly, as one would hope for.
