Being Real

During the height of his career, Award-Winning Actor (AA) caught the eye of the public with his acting depth and noticeable features. Although he has the looks, he could not be assigned roles that needed a loveteam partner. In other words, his present status is the result of his solo effort at acting.

With awards and accolades tucked in his best, quality projects are still elusive. Moreover, on the personal side, AA could not seem to have a relationship for keeps. His latest one, which made him almost settle down, recently ended. Thus, he went back to acting and a role made him discover more about himself.

AA was playing an offbeat character and he had to do intimate scenes with Hunk Actor (HA). Thus, AA was so into his character that HA felt he was not acting anymore. Allegedly, HA felt AA was getting hard whenever they had physically close scenes. HA, having had a wide spectrum of relationships realized AA could be coming to terms with his identity.

One time, AA and HA decided to unwind and drink. AA got drunk and started flirting with HA and eventually landing his lips on his fellow actor’s. HA gave in to everything, as AA is a friend. After their encounter, AA confessed that he was having his identity issues and realizing he might be between fields, but this time, he’s more attracted to males. HA understood and the two decided to keep their moment a secret.

As far as HA was concerned, the incident was done and over. He, however, became amused when he heard AA gave a long response about the fluidity of sexual identity. HA wondered if between those challenging lines was an admission of AA’s true self and if he had just come out while answering a query.

Asia's songbird Regine Velasquez took home the top prize at the 2019 Aliw Awards, being named Entertainer of the Year at the awards night on December 17.

It's the third time that Regine is receiving the top title – she was also named Entertainer of the Year in 2007 and in 2009.

Regine also won the award for Best Collaboration in a Concert, for her show Iconic with Sharon Cuneta. They shared the award with Martin Nievera and Lani Misalucha, who won for their show Timeless Classics.

Regine celebrated the win on Instagram, saying it was a "highlight" of her 30 years in the industry.

Meanwhile, Lea Salonga won Aliw's inaugural People's Choice Award. She also brought home the award for Best Actress in a musical for her turn as Mrs Lovett in Atlantis Theatrical's production of Sweeney Todd.

Misplaced Assumptions

As a fallback, many celebrities are venturing into businesses. Careers in the entertainment industry are unstable and there is truth in the saying that one is only as good as the last project. If the last project flops, the celebrity might be put on hold, as producers would not want a succession of losses.

Celebrity Entrepreneur (CE) realized the possible fleeting stage of her career in only a few years of her career. At that time. CE already had a name and at the peak of her career. Thus, she banked on her fame when she opened her business. After a short-lived endeavor, CE had to close shop. However, she was already hooked on opening businesses. Similar to the entertainment industry, the business climate can be volatile and clients can be picky. Her businesses were not doing well, as the years passed.

Although CE would have projects, her calling to entrepreneurship was loud. However, she no longer has enough money to invest. It was time for friends to help.

CE tried to ask for financial assistance from Wealthy Acquaintance (WA). WA would have the money CE needed, but she did not receive any favorable response. WA was too busy with his own affairs, especially in taking care of his younger ward.

Lucky for CE, her Businessman Friend (BF) offered help. Accordingly, BF assisted CE in securing a seven-digit loan from a bank with him as guarantor. The deal is that CE will regularly deposit money in BF’s account to payback the loan. The bank will then deduct an amount from the bank account of BF. During the first few months, CE was consistent with the payment. Then, she started skipping months and soon, no payment was being transacted in BF’s account.

Sensing something was very wrong, BF went to the home of CE to ask for payment. The two talked and BF explained that he needs to be paid soon, as he has bills and tuition fees to pay. His wife has already noticed the withdrawal of the huge amount from their account regularly.

CE explained that she has no regular work and the business she opened was at a loss. As CE was alone at her home at that time, she said to BF if her body could be her initial payment and dropped her clothes. BF was aghast at seeing the naked body of CE. He replied that he is a happily married man and she’s too old for him. He insisted that he only wants his money back and told her to put on her clothes immediately. Then, he added that she should make payment arrangements within the next few weeks, or else, he’ll see her in court.
