Managers are hired to make sure their talents get the best deal from networks or producers. They prepare the terms and conditions as well as negotiate to benefit their talents. In return, managers receive a certain percentage of the earnings. An effective manager is, of course, someone who can ‘sell’ the talent while navigating the course of his/her career for their benefit. Moreover, a manager should have foresight in terms of developing the career of his/her talent. Much is expected from a manager to ensure the talent reaches his/her potential.

When the contract of a Network Talent (NT) was about to expire, Her Adviser (HA) thought of exploring other offers. After NT was disappointed at a project, HA thought it was best to move one. NT, as a talent, respected HA’s decision despite doubts.

As negotiations were allegedly on-going, NT was being exposed to nasty comments. When the rumor spread in the online community, NT was accused of being ungrateful by fans and bashers. Note that nothing was finalized yet and the reaction was already undesirable.

Time was moving and HA was not in sight and NT was becoming impatient. After all, NT loves her career and would want to work immediately. As soon as the water was tested, NT felt unhappiness. Things moved fast and NT realized the wrong advice HA had given her. Had NT followed, she might not find the happiness she wanted for her career. This time, she put her foot down and followed her heart, which told her to stay put. Eventually, HA found out that NT did not go with the plan and soon, HA knew the next move, as he lost NT as a talent.
