When a celebrity joins the social media bandwagon and makes his/her account public, he/she should be ready to respond to comments. Often, celebrities hardly respond to positive comments, but when a negative comment is posted and touches the nerve of the celebrity, the reaction indicates the nature of the celebrity.
For some celebrities, ignoring bashers is their best defense against negative comments. Others delete the comment and block the basher. Still, others simply let their rabid fans respond and bully the basher on their behalf. In some cases, celebrities take time to search for the identity of the basher and shame the person based on the obtained data. However, the ones who have had it up to their heads respond to the negative comments without mincing words.
In the case of Admired Performer (AP), her followers were surprised at the way she handled the negative comment that basher posted on her wall. AP usually does not mind the comments, but for that particular one, she called out the basher and gave a lecture on respect. However, instead of getting flak for replying, AP was praised by netizens for the way she composed her ideas. AP kept to the issue and did not attack the personality of her basher. Thus, her response gained much appreciation and gave the impression that AP is consistently kind to everyone.
While AP seems to have built a nice image of herself based on that reply, people who once knew her could not totally buy the idea that AP is truly nice. According to the grapevine, the fame that AP has gained in Manila has gotten into her head, and once she retreats to her hometown, her real personality kicks in. Instead of a warm gesture from AP for everyone, the opposite is the reality. AP only greets, smiles, and talks to people she knows would benefit her status. Thus, if you are an ordinary person who has no connections, expect to be snubbed by AP even if you have been friends prior to her becoming renowned. AP would not bother to entertain or talk to you at all. The response is such a stark contrast to what her townmates are not feeling.

Atom Araullo Moves from Kapamilya to Kapuso?

A few months ago, news broke out that Atom Araullo was leaving the News Department of ABS-CBN. Various reasons were cited, which included his being vocal on certain issues that could tarnish the objectivity needed for a journalist. However, Araullo stressed that he simply wanted to move on to try new things, but he will still be with the network. Soon after, his lead role in Mike de Leon’s ‘Citizen Jake’ was announced.
Early this morning, Araullo made a tearful farewell to his UKG family, and this time, he was leaving the network for good. The goodbyes were pleasant and the statement of Araullo as well as ABS-CBN indicated no bad blood was involved in their parting of ways.
However, as soon as statements were released, speculations were raised if Araullo would be making the big leap to GMA 7. Araullo’s career as a reporter started in ‘5 and Up,’ which moved from ABC 5 (now TV 5) to GMA 7. A very young Araullo connected with the GMA audience. His last show in GMA 7 before moving to ABS-CBN was ‘ATOMic Sports’ that aired over 24 Oras.
While GMA 7 and Araullo have yet to confirm the transfer, the morning blind item segment, ‘Sino?’ aired over Super Radyo DZBB (GMA 7’s AM radio station) hinted that the reporter would indeed be joining the network. Anchored by Mike Enriquez, Arnold Clavio, and Susan Enriquez (taking over Ali Sotto, who’s on vacation), the trio gave obvious clues that Araullo would be back. Accordingly, a press conference was already scheduled for next week.

In one network, two young hunks, H1 and H2, are envious of the outcome of the transfer of their former co-workers to the rival station. These co-workers had to make the move for various reasons, such as the end of their contracts, better offers, personal issues with other stars in the home network, and lack of offer. Thus, when they make the move, the new network immediately puts them as guests in flagship projects as its way of letting their viewership that this new artist is not part of the family. Utilizing its vast resources in free and cable TV as well as digital platforms, the new transferees are given so much exposure.
Thus, H1 and H2 became curious of the possibility of moving and returning to the other network, respectively. The two felt that they have been left out despite the years they have been with the network. For H1, he became disappointed when what was supposed to be a major solo role was given to a Newbie Model (NM). H1 then asked H2 if the other network really has better opportunities, but the latter reminded him that most transferees are relegated to supporting roles unless they were already big names upon leaving.
Meanwhile, a parallel story was happening in the said rival station. Talented Performer (TP) said that he was becoming unhappy, as the station does not seem to have any project lined up for him. Although he was discovered by the station and had several projects that were successful, TP seems to have lost the popularity he used to have prior to his taking a long leave. Then, Actor Dancer (AD) seems to be in the same boat. Even though he would be part of the supporting cast, the projects came one after the other before. Now, except for appearances in non-teleseryes, AD is not as visible. In case, AD makes the leap, then his reason could really be out of love. Moving to another network would make him closer to his current love interest.
Objectively looking at the careers of H1, H2, TP, and AD, one reason for their lack of projects is that their projects have fallen below expectations lately. Except for H2, the other three have no project that the public knows about. H1 is between jobs and no word has been given on his next project.
To add to the excitement of the exodus, several talents from the stations have been signed up by non-network-based talent agencies. By not being tied up to a network, these celebrities would have more freedom to explore other opportunities and try their luck in rival networks. Nonetheless, the race to a solid career is really a matter of survival of the fittest, or the one who could manage to garner the most attention from viewers and fans.
