Acceptance is a Must

Beauty comes at a price, particularly if one wants to enter the entertainment industry. Reality says that only a handful of the present famous celebrities have not had any beauty enhancement. Most celebrities have undergone procedures, such as enhancing their body parts, fixing their dental concerns, and sculpting their bodies. Unlike decades ago, when any body change done through science was frowned upon, today, such seem to be the new normal.

One of the reasons why celebrities are enticed to undergo enhancements is the pressure to look good on screen. For example, a celebrity might be considered to have weight issues if he/she looks heavy on screen. Ten pounds is usually added by the visual medium, and thus, several celebrities had to lose much of their body weight either through exercise or the quicker way, which is to undergo surgery. However, even if times have supposed to have evolved, netizens would always find fault in a celebrity that had to change his/her look.

Sometime ago, Pretty Celebrity (PC) met an accident that resulted in the need for a certain body part to be reconstructed. This procedure was such a hard blow to PC because it could mean getting flak for a change in her looks. However, PC could not do anything because it was a medical necessity, and not out of vanity. When PC showed up, her followers adored her for her beauty and she even gained more admirers. Years later, the work started to deteriorate, and thus, PC had to undergo the knife again.

As she had done it before, PC thought she had nothing to worry about, but that was until she saw the result and when the netizens started commenting as though she had committed a crime. PC became depressed. However, her management team decided to help her through her sadness and asked a known clinic if PC could be accommodated. Unfortunately, they were turned down, as PC was bound to be a high risk client, given her fame and controversy. Still, the team did not give up, and almost begged for PC to be admitted. For now, the request has yet to be resolved. PC, meanwhile, is doing the only logical thing to do, that is, to live her life to the fullest. After all, it is still PC underneath all the enhancements.

The Great Problem

‘Not my husband!’ might be a line said by a distraught wife to the mistress in a movie. The line might be a cliché, but Furious Wife (FW) allegedly said that one-liner when she confronted Beautiful Actress (BA) along the hallways of their workplace. The next moments seemed to have been taken from a movie. After hearing what FW said, BA kept her composure and her deadpan face, but FW grabbed her arm. Shocked at the possible scandal that could follow, BA kept her cool, said one thing, but avoided any retaliation. Both walked away after as though nothing happened.

Then, it dawned on FW that if BA talks about that incident and it reaches the management, she might be in trouble. However, BA did threaten to talk, but her focus was on the one thing any wife would rather not know. BA divulged that she was ready to reveal the relationship she had with FW’s Low-key Husband (LH). This idea was far too hurtful for FW to hear.

Prior to committing seriously to FW, LH was seeing BA on the side. LH and BA found themselves working on a project, and attracted to each other. At that point, they could not do much, but to be contented with their stolen moments. LH was known to be seeing FW and BA was in a relationship, too. As time passed, they would see each other and the attraction would still be there. One time, LH and BA defied their commitments and locked themselves in a room. LH could not get physical with FW, as she had the rule of keeping chaste until her wedding night. The private moment was hot and LH and BA enjoyed each other’s company.

After realizing that he has sealed his fate, LH settled down with FW, while BA entertained men she liked even if she did have a boyfriend. Years later, the two found a way to be alone on official business and this time, they made sure they were far from FW. While on location, BA often visited LH in his room and rekindled their passion for several nights. Naturally, FW had a hunch and started her own sleuthing and a few phone calls confirmed that LH had nightly visits from BA.

Then, the confrontation happened. The realization of FW was that she did not want the public to know that her ideal marriage was not as firm after all. The cracks would definitely turn into a scandal and tarnish her wholesome reputation. Thus, when asked by the press if she could comment on the alleged affair, FW merely shrugged off the questions and succumbed to typical showbiz responses. The question is if FW herself would swallow her pride and let LH and BA continue their affair or will she show him who’s the boss.

Repost: Dingdong and Marian Dantes Want Parody Account Removed Due to Backlash on Their Families

Kapuso star Marian Rivera-Dantes on Monday said she wants the parody Twitter account @superstarmarian taken down, due to the backlash her family received because of it.

"Nag-reklamo na kami, nag-message na kami, gumagawa na kami ng paraan para matanggal talaga 'yan," she said on the sidelines of the "I am Super: An Art Exhibit" in Pasay City.

This comes after the Twitter account @superstarmarian posted a tweet regarding President Rodrigo R. Duterte's campaign against illegal drugs.

"[You] warned us there will be blood. So [pwede ba 'yung] 16 million lang na bumoto sayo ang patayin mo? Because the rest of us didn't sign up for this," the tweet read.

As of writing, the tweet has 155 replies, including negative reactions from the President's supporters.

"Siyempre alam naman natin na maraming supporters si Mr. President tapos pangalan ko 'yung nakalagay dun. Parang sandali ha, siguro it's about time na magsasalita na ako na hindi ako 'yan," Rivera said.

"Wala akong Twitter account. May Facebook account ako, pero ang nag-aasikaso niyan hindi ako. Ang tanging hinahawakan ko lang is Instagram," she added.

The parody account uses the Twitter handle @superstarmarian and was previously under the name "Marian Rivera-Dantes," before it was changed to "Fake Marian Rivera."

"Although sinasabi naman daw nung @superstarmarian na hindi naman daw siya. Pero sabi ko, para gamitin niya 'yung pangalan ko, it's unfair so tama na," the actress said.

This was echoed by her husband Dingdong Dantes, who said their family has been receiving threats because of the parody account.

"Personally, I'm requesting whoever is behind that parody account, please take it down," he said.

"Minsan entertaining na magbasa ng mga parody accounts pero to a certain point, pagka involved na ang political views na nagiging dahilan ng threats or ng mga hindi magagandang bagay para sa akin, sa aking asawa, lalo sa aking pamilya, ay hindi ko papayagang mangyari 'yun," he added.

According to Dingdong, while the parody account was entertaining, it should not have posted political views which caused netizens to threaten his family.

"Siguro we were entertained already. Yes, we understand how witty you are, we're grateful also sa mga magagandang na-contribute mo," he said.

"But to express political views na magiging dahilan na magkaroon ng threats or magkaroon ng hindi magandang pananaw sa akin, lalo na sa asawa't pamilya ko, ay hindi ko papayagang mangyari 'yun," he added. — BM, GMA News
