The infamous interview of Karen Davila with Senatorial aspirant Alma Moreno garnered scores of negative criticisms from the people. The ABS-CBN journalist asked the actress-politician several questions concerning national issues, which includes the Reproductive Health Bill and Political Dynasty. The interview got awkward when Moreno appeared to be rattled and oblivious about the thorny topics.

Bunch of people are making fun of Moreno when the ‘awkward interview’ circulated on the internet. Different mocking memes and parodies sprouted on social media bashing the Parañaque City councilor. Netizens are taking Davila’s side saying that the journalist is only doing her job of scrutinizing future leaders of the country. However, the son of Moreno, Valdolph Quizon, thinks otherwise. He said in an interview of Philippine Daily Inquirer that Davila humiliated his mother. He also noted that the journalist should not choose whom to respect in her show.

“Karen humiliated my mom on national TV. She kept pounding [on her]. She let my mom get rattled. My mom deserves to be respected because she is the chair of PCL (Philippine Councilors League), and she has been serving the country for so long. My mom is … [a person of] action and not just words. Some politicians are good speakers. They sweet-talk us to the point that they fool us and do corrupt things. My mom is not like them!”

Behaving Like a Superstar

At the peak of her career, Talented Actress (TA) was half of a very successful loveteam. In fact, TA and her partner (HP) were even rumored to have a relationship, but it was thwarted as both were very young at that time. Soon, their cuteness faded as they became mature and pursued other passions. Because of the growing trend of bold movies then, TA had to lie low, as she did not want to be part of the daring actresses and her management has yet to figure out how her talent could win over the flesh shown by bold talents.

For several years, TA opted for the quiet life and moved out of showbiz. However, TA could not stay away for long as her blood has showbusiness flowing into it. After all, she belongs to one of the biggest clans and influential personalities in the business. As time passed, TA made her comeback, but there was a problem. She could no longer return to being cute as she has grown older and HP was very much married, and like TA, had non-showbiz priorities.

Finally, someone thought of repackaging TA into the role of a villainess. To their delight, TA was truly an actress, as she delivered convincing performances of rude and feisty characters that made the life of the heroine like hell. When opportunities came knocking, TA was ready and decided to come home.

In the past years, TA has moved from one station to another for various projects. However, the years of living away from showbiz have hardened TA and she has changed from being timid to being assertive. Unfortunately, her assertiveness has crossed over to diva-like behavior. In a soap, where she plays a major role, TA has unwittingly hit the nerves of some of the people involved in the production and some of her co-actors as well. For instance, when TA is called for her scene, she would ask for more time and give excuses like the makeup is still up for retouching. Before she actually steps out, she has to be coaxed several times. Of course, her scenes are not done solo, and thus, while TA takes her sweet time, her co-actors have to wait for her until she feels like coming out to do her scene.

Some people who have observed her behavior are wondering if TA is exhibiting her true self by behaving like a diva or is merely carrying her role even behind the scenes. Nonetheless, her making people wait has gotten the ire of people. Surprisingly, TA belongs to a clan known for professionalism, humility, and compassion for ordinary folks, such as the crew of a movie set. Yet, TA seems unmindful of the people around her.

Lack of Pleasant Behavior of the Teleserye Crew

While the rivalry among teleseryes is attributed to the network, stars, and storyline, another competition actually happens when it comes to logistics. When a teleserye goes to various locations, such as in various scenic provincial spots, much effort has been exerted to coordinate the schedules of the stars and the production staff. Added to this factor is the cost entailed in transporting everyone to the said location and the day lost to traveling.

Filming out of town is not merely good for the teleserye, but is also a way of reaching to a broader audience. When a town gets wind that their place will be used as location, hospitality will prevail and local folks will exert their best effort to welcome the stars and the crew. Sadly, the crew (TC) of a teleserye behaved badly, such that the locals have lost interest in the top-rating show.

When TC and the stars went to a famous tourist location, the number of complaints was alarming. Allegedly, TC was led by a Manager (AM), who was so rude that the series lost a number of fans at that instant. TC decided to dine at a restaurant, which was owned by one of the clans of the province. Naturally, people were in the restaurant, as some were dining themselves or were simply curious. When AM saw the people in the restaurant, AM went to the manager and insisted to rid the place of the people. This instruction was said in a high voice, and the manager felt embarrassed.

Well, the manager was caught in a dilemma, as some of the diners were relatives of the owners. Politely, the manager approached the relatives, who understood the situation and graciously moved to the outside tables. They were told that the production agreed to have a photo after their meal. So, these people waited for a time until they were told that they could have their photos.

To the shock of the relatives of the owner, they were screamed at and someone kept saying that flies should not touch the stars of the show. As there were no flies, literally, in the area, this remark was not taken well by the relatives. They already lost interest, but proceeded with the picture taking. Even if the photos turned out blurry, they no longer cared as the rudeness was so much and TC and AM were too disrespectful. As if the rudeness was not soaring enough, TC even had the gall to demand for an ex-deal for their meals.

Etiquette does not render you defenseless. If it did, even I wouldn't subscribe to it. But rudeness in retaliation for rudeness just doubles the amount of rudeness in the world. - Judith Martin

Angel Locsin Considering Surgery for Spine

Actress Angel Locsin might undergo surgery to treat a disc bulge in her spine that forced her to pull out from the upcoming movie on Darna, her boyfriend Luis Manzano said on Tuesday.

"I think mayroon siyang two options na kino-consider. May isa na medyo mas matimbang, so hopefully soon magawa na niya," Manzano told ABS-CBNNews.com in an interview.

But Manzano is optimistic that Locsin will be back on her feet in no time.

"Basta makapagpa-treatment kung sakaling magawa niya 'yung nakaplanong whether 'yung surgery, basta magawa 'yon at maayos 'yung therapy after, she can be 100% again," he said.

"With technology now, sa science ngayon, parang ang bilis (maka-recover). 'Yung last case na nakita after one or two weeks parang medyo okay na. Pero of course she still have to undergo therapy. Hindi pwedeng afternoon eh lahat ay gagawin mo. Siyempre kailangan may kaunting ingat pa din before you're 100%," he added.

Manzano said he is touched that a lot of people are still hoping that Locsin will get to fly again as Darna.

"Nakita ko nga may mga Instagram pa na Darna will wait for Angel Locsin. Nakaka-touch kasi siyempre ibig sabihin there's no one better for that role," he said, noting that these aren't just "hardcore fans" of his girlfriend.

"Kahit 'yung regular na tao who follows showbiz talagang sinasabi nila na iba 'yung naging tatak ni Angel as Darna. So thank you. I guess on behalf of Angel maraming salamat doon sa nagsasabing kung kayang antayin, antayin sana," Manzano said.

Asked if there's still a possibility for Locsin to still do the Darna movie, Manzano said: "Sana. Siguro not just dahil sa clamor ng tao but kahit ang management ay nakikita na 'Oo nga ano baka naman kaya pa ngang hintayin si Angel.' So sana."
