Making An Erred Judgment Call

Actors and actresses make a living by playing various emotions on screen. Yet, behind cameras, the public forgets they are human, too, and could very well succumb to their emotions. The advent of social media has become influential in revealing the true nature of celebrities.
Having a social media account works for and against a celebrity. Some use the number of followers as an indication of popularity. More followers mean higher visibility. Thus, if a celebrity endorses a produce using his/her social media account, the message immediately reaches millions of followers.
For some, a social media account is a way for fans to interact with the celebrity/owner. While some celebrities shun responding, others actually respond to loyal fans and bashers. Usually, the response to trolls and tactless netizens earns the ire of loyal followers and the celebrity could just sit back while his/her fans get back at the trolls. Given the risks, some celebrities have opted for the “Private” option or screen netizens who want to become followers.
In a business where one’s public actions can damage a celebrity’s reputation and work, Intriguing Talent (IT) had to face the consequences of his actions. A controversy involving someone close (SC) to IT led to a series of events that doomed his career. A very impressive performer, IT belonged to the few talents in the network who could actually act. Amidst cute boys, who brag of abs and looks, but have no acting talent, IT was a relief. However, his intensity came at a price, as he could not control his emotions, and sadly, he used his social media account to express these thoughts.
Consequently, the management decided to cut his project short and even a production firm removed him from the cast. The message created such a negative impact, that damage control might not be advisable at this point. Although IT had removed that post, damage was already done. Thus, IT is again without a big project that could keep him busy. Worse, SC is also getting into controversy and the management is worried that some of the negativism could have already tainted her image. So irked is one executive, such that instructions were given to kill off her character. The belief is that SC might be a jinx, first to IT and possibly, in her project. Circumstances might end up with IT and SC being jobless.
When the saying “think before you click” became popular, many people thought it was just a slogan or a catchy line. Yet, so many celebrities have been caught in hot water for pouring out their emotions in their social media accounts and hitting the “Post” key without reflecting on the possible impact of their words. In the case of IT, his action has caused much damage, and only time will tell if he could ever come back to showbusiness.

Getting Him to Fight Her Battle

After spending several years with her network, Sultry Personality (SP) was finally given a show that tapped her passion. Thus, her taping schedules as well as other commitments caught up with her, which resulted in several absences in her media shows.
As SM garnered good feedback on her new project, she did not realize that something else was being concocted. While SP was busy with her commitments, Newbie Personality (NP) was suddenly tasked to take over the slot of SP in her shows. At first, NP was a bit apprehensive, as the line of SP was not her expertise.
NP is a celebrity in her own field and a natural in front of the camera. Moreover, during one of her stints as replacement of SP, NP said that she prepared well before going onboard. She read newspapers and started to be inquisitive on topics she was going to tackle. That experience went smoothly. Soon, feedback indicated that people wanted to see more of NP.
When NP appeared on television, her presence was widely accepted and the clamor for her to be more visible reached the producers. Hence, the producers allegedly planned to have NP as an alternate to SP. Even the bosses (TB) were warm to the idea, as NP actually has a more positive image than SP strictly speaking.
Upon knowing the alleged plan, SP felt insulted. After all, she has been known for a certain genre and a newcomer like NP seems to be not on the same level as hers. SP then had to act to prevent such plan from materializing. SP sought the assistance of Well-Known Practitioner (WK). The question of why SP approached WK, who does not have any management role in her program, is that both of them have allegedly been intimate with each other. Thus, they have more than a professional relationship.
Therefore, WK went to TB and aired the sentiments of SP. WK reiterated that having an alternate for SP would be like a slap on the face of the woman. As TB listened to the argument, the tone was beginning to sound like a threat was coming from WK. Allegedly, WK hinted that he will leave the show if SP gets to have a permanent alternate for her segment. Not wanting to rock the boat too much, TB dropped the initial plan and SP will not have any alternate at all. Did SP feel insecurity at the thought that she will have to share the limelight with someone younger, fresher, and classier?
