The Art of Masquerading a Breakup

When an actor and an actress who are not involved in a project are seen together in public, the assumption is that they are an item. When asked if they are indeed a couple, expect denials, especially if an admission will not benefit their careers and ruin the illusion of being available. Local fans can be very possessive and look at their idols with an ideal eye. The idols are preferred to remain single to create an image that their hearts are still up for grabs. Yet, local fans can be very supportive especially when they believe that an actor and actress are perfect for each other.
At the time when Appealing Actress (AA) and Versatile Entertainer (VE) became an item, their admission was met with tons of cynicism. After all, their individual fan groups might not agree to their commitment, and thus, risk rejection, which could translate to lower patronizing of the projects of AA and VE. However, their fans did not interfere and accepted AA and VE as a couple. AA and VE were of age, and their fans were confident that they knew what they were getting into.
Another intrigue that hounded them was the fact that AA was more famous that VE, and at the onset of their relationship, AA was already established, whereas VE had yet to determine the genre that would best bring out his potential. Thus, people commented that VE was just using AA to get publicity for his career. Nonetheless, VE did not let his network down as he was able to deliver in the various projects he was assigned.
As years passed, the public accepted their relationship, and the cynicism slowly transitioned to acceptance and hope that they will join the other showbiz couples who ended up at the altar. Then, just as they were about to seal their union, something happened that caused them to think twice if there was a “forever” for them. Soon, rumors spread that they were no longer together only because AA was not posting as many photos of VE in her social media accounts. Then, there were instances that they were going on separate vacations. Loyal fans felt something was off.
According to sources, AA and VE have indeed decided to call it quits. For instance, during an important event of the network, all love teams were required to walk together. AA and VE requested not to be part of the number, and thus, one walked ahead of the other. One of them even requested to be assigned a different dressing room. When it was time to leave, AA was seen going out with Snobbish Hunk (SH). Incidentally, SH is being rumored to be dating his co-actress in a program. However, as soon as the show was over, nothing was heard of their dating anymore.
Now, the breakup of AA and VE is too costly and risky as anything negative could affect their box-office and rating draws. In other words, admitting that they are no longer together could have dire effects on their images. Thus, their management has imposed that no admission of the breakup would be done, and obviously, AA and VE are trying so hard to live up to the image that they are working out whatever issues messed up their relationship. Yet, their latest photos and videos seem to lack the usual sweetness of their previous outings. Thus, in the case of AA and VE, being seen together might not really indicate that all is well between them.

GMA Files NTC Complaint vs. SkyCable for Signal Loss during Eat Bulaga

In a letter dated August 25, 2015, GMA, thru its Senior Vice President for Engineering Engr. Elvis B. Ancheta and Vice President for Legal Affairs Lynn P. Delfin, appealed for the immediate action of the NTC for the sake of paying SkyCable subscribers, “who are being short-changed through the irresponsible acts of their service provider.”
GMA said this is a violation of Section 6 of the NTC MC No. 4-08-88 or the Revised Rules and Regulations Governing Cable Television Systems in the Philippines.
In line with the complaint, the Network cited a series of tweets posted from July 19 to August 21, 2015 by televiewers from Metro Manila, Cavite, Bacolod, and Iloilo, “who mostly decried the apparent ‘sabotage’ perpetrated by SkyCable” and expressed “disgust” for missing their favorite portion of the country’s longest running noon-time show.
Twitter user @wyne_me posted on August 13, 2015 “OMG! Walang signal ang GMA sa sky cable dito sa Bacolod pero ang iba meron. Nakakabadtrip! Eat Bulaga na mamaya #AlDubHihintayinKita.” Meanwhile, another viewer with the username @floresjenny1214 tweeted on August 20, 2015 “Sky cable naman eh kapag eat bulaga na lagi malabo o mawawala wag ganun #ALDUBKeepTheFaith.”
The Kalye-serye segment of Eat Bulaga features the “accidental love team” of Maine Mendoza also known as Yaya Dub and Kapuso actor Alden Richards, alongside the comedic tandem of Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola, and continues to drive the program’s ratings to unprecedented success.
Last Saturday (August 22), Eat Bulaga registered a household rating of 31.3 percent in NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement) beating its counterpart program’s 13.7 percent, according to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. The episode, which showed the wedding of Yaya Dub to Frankie Arenoli (Jose Manalo), garnered more than 2 million tweets and was praised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines for promoting Catholic values.

Too Grumpy

Television appearances can be deceiving, as viewers often believe that the image projected by the host more or less reflects his/her personality. Thus, if the show is religious, hosts are expected to be pious and true to what they preach. In the same way, if the program is about caring for the less fortunate, the host is believed to have a compassionate heart for the needy. Of course, newsreaders are expected to be as feisty when they are no longer delivering the news with strong conviction. Finally, someone who hosts a wholesome show that is geared for kids and the public is expected to be friendly and easy to deal with in front and behind the camera.
Sadly, not all hosts can walk their talk. Too many horror stories have circulated about how certain media personalities can spew curse words at the slight mistake of the staff or rat off the behavior of colleagues. Take the case of the Wholesome TV Host (WH), who has been around for some time and has hosted several interesting programs for the younger generation. First, he showed off his artistic and creative talents to the younger audience. He was effective as kids followed him and caught on his moniker. Then, he ventured into other people-interest programs that catered to lifestyle. Primetime viewers might not be familiar with WH, but viewers who like to find out about the best of places and gadgets might know WH.
As WH projects a caring image, he is the opposite behind cameras according to the grapevine. WH allegedly treats the staff badly and regularly shouts at them for the littlest things. Often the staff tolerated this attitude, as WH was consistent in treating everyone in this manner. However, their patience ran out as WH was becoming intolerable. What they could not figure out is why WH is too grumpy and likes to make the life of the staff horrible. For instance, when he comes late on the set, no one says a word, but when he comes early, he will definitely make sure that the staff who arrives after him will not have an easy time for the duration of the taping. Sometimes, he even argues with the production as to what colors to wear on the show. Worse, he badmouths his research team and producers to other people in the network. His lack of professionalism has been noticed by other shows, which at first, wanted him to guest, but had a change of mind. These shows did not invite WH anymore as they realized WH would only make the staff tense and nervous.
Justifying his harsh and negative attitude has stereotyped reasons. First, WH could have been treated horribly when he was just starting out, and thus, to extract revenge, err, to train the newbies, WH shows tough love. Second, WH might be showing symptoms of trying to come to terms with his true self. Because of this hidden nature, he vents out on the slightest mistakes or errors. In short, he acts live a diva even when he should not be such. Thus, some are speculating that he needs to accept his true self, and changes towards the positive will follow. An even intriguing incident is that when WH forgot to turn off his lapel, he allegedly had an interesting conversation about a cute personality who guested on his show.

Hi FP!
I asked my friend to buy me Subway sandwiches earlier. She is one of the hundreds who fell in line because of the buy 1 take 1 promo. She went straight to our office afterwards and handed me my Steak and Cheese sandwiches (she asked not to include veggies because I dont eat them).
When I got home, I was really disappointed. The sandwiches looked far from what they have on their website. Yes, the veggies were removed but still far from what I was expecting.
Take note that the cheese is still on top of the meat meaning I have not done anything with the sandwich.
The sandwiches were purchased at the California Garden Square branch around lunch time.
