Do Not Belittle Her Man

When someone establishes a name in showbiz and is looked upon as a successful example, such achievement either ruins or strengthens family ties. Generally, the immediate family reaps the benefits of the fame and fortune of the famous family member. Thus, parents are sometimes misunderstood as being too strict with the careers of their celebrity children. They are often labeled as opportunists who take advantage of their children instead of working themselves. Some parents even go as far as making demands from networks and managers regarding the image of their children. Worse, some parents interfere with the fans of the celebrities.
Nonetheless, when it comes to relationships, these parents guard their children too closely. Thus, the children really do not get to enjoy the ups and downs of teenage relationships and activities, such as going on dates or simply hanging around. A typical example who had to endure working at a young age and strictness of her relations is Accomplished Performer (AP). Since she won in a contest, AP has always been in the limelight. Her concerts are well attended and her CDs are sure hits. When she ventured in movies, she surprised the public with her acting and box-office draw.
When people noticed that AP was growing up without a significant other, they quickly pointed at the way Close Relation (CR) has stopped possible suitors. Thus, AP maintained the image of the dutiful daughter until a scandal involving Another Close Relation (AC) and Underrated Hunk (UH) confirmed that AP was trying so hard to have a relationship like any ordinary lady. Unfortunately, UH had to move on and AP mended her heart.
After several attempts at finding the right one despite the eagle eye guarding of CR and AC, Versatile Actor (VA) entered the picture. Soon VA and AP were spotted eating out. Although they tried to be inconspicuous, people who saw them were more concerned if CR and AC were occupying the next table. Initially, VA and AP kept quiet, but the glow in AP was undeniable – she was in love with VA. Once the cat was out of the bag, VA professed that he loves AP, too. Still, kibitzers wondered where CR and AC stood when the falling in love was happening.
As AP is already of age and has given so much to alleviate the financial condition of her family, she took it upon herself to protest whenever CR would concoct schemes to prevent her meeting with VA. When AP wanted to join VA on an out of town event, CR allegedly instructed the management to make sure AP had appointments on that day. AP learned of the plan and sulked for days. Thus, CR had no choice but to give in only on the condition that she will tag along, as she wanted to see the home of VA.
When everything was settled, VA took AP and CR to meet everyone who mattered to him. Thinking it was just an ordinary dinner, CR went as she was, which was a wrong decision. Upon reaching the venue, all the guests were dressed to the nines, which was not unexpected as VA belongs to a wealthy and well-mannered family. They all wore jewelry and looked fabulous. Meanwhile, CR was just dressed in jeans, which made her look like a poor relation next to the guests. Throughout dinner, CR had to endure the fact that hardly was she spoken to and attention was on AP and VA. Given that financial security and family acceptance were not going to be a problem with VA, CR sometimes gets paranoid whenever AP would joke that she was ready to settle down soon. As the cliché goes, the goose that lays the golden egg might just stop once VA and AP get married sooner than expected.

Just Don’t Place Me Next to Them

The pressure to perform better and achieve a higher notch among peers is on. While today’s stars are made not by talent alone, but by tons of media hype to gain fan interest, legitimate talents are sometimes relegated to the periphery. When this unfair situation is questioned, the response of insiders is that these legitimate talents are probably not doing what the stars of today are doing. However, talent alone is no longer enough to establish a career, as the power of the network dictates the direction of one’s career. Remember that once a network channels its resources in building a personality, the rate of success will be higher. Thus, legitimate talents who are not backed up by a network and are unable to gain enough following will never have a great career.
Nonetheless, when a seemingly innocent tweet about non-performers generated an unexpected discussion in social media, some thought that talents and networks were unaffected by the issue. However, some artists took this issue as a challenge for them to prove they are really talented, and they opted to sing live given the opportunity. The winner would always be the audience whenever artists rise above the challenge. Fans are appreciative that their idols would prove their worth.
When Talented Young Performer (YP) saw the chance to prove herself, she requested the production of her show not to put her too close to the other performers who opt to lip synch. Although she is considered as a newbie, YP has potential to excel given her genes and her extensive experience. As the daughter of very talented singers, YP inherited their powerful voices. Besides, YP has appeared in theatre productions, and therefore, she knows how to handle the pressure of performing in front of the audience without any pre-recording. Moreover, her album might be affected by the lip synch issue, which would be unfair to someone who is talented like her.
Although the request might seem to indicate a bit of pride, YP has to do whatever it takes to prove she could deliver without blatantly stepping on anyone’s toes. Thus, she is not even requesting solo spots this early, but only to sing live and slowly dissociate from performers who rely on lip synchronization.
