A Probable Case of Drug-Rape?
After a while, TA reportedly got drunk and with HG in company, went out of the bar. They allegedly went to HG’s hotel room to spend the night. Meanwhile, TA’s companions were at their wits looking out for him, since they were clueless of his whereabouts.
The morning after, when TA woke up, he felt his body ached, that rear part of his torso was too painful that he could barely stand up and walk. HG was already nowhere in sight. TA then called up his friend and narrated to him what happened as he remembered. TA recalled vaguely that he could have passed out and had no recollection as to why he was suddenly thrust into HG’s room.
As TA was trying to recall the events the night before, including the drinks he had with HG, it occurred to him that something was put in his drinks that made him passed out. Thereafter, it was then that he realized he was raped. Yes, HG raped him!
TA got the scare of his life. After coming back to his senses, he realized that what happened was serious and that he needed to have himself checked and treated asap.
True enough, the doctor confirmed his suspicion, TA had lacerations. Reportedly, repair/treatment had to be done on him that required long days of rest. As a result, TA's flight home was delayed and was unable to work for weeks.

Letter from a Reader: Beware of MGE Taxi Driver!
I just want to send a warning to your many readers.
Today, July 11 at around 4pm, my 10-year old daughter and I boarded this taxi cab in Katipunan, just right outside my daughter's school.
I told the driver to take us to Eastwood. I already sensed his apprehension but he still drove towards Eastwood so I thought it was okay with him.
The traffice was horrible. It was slow moving and we hit a couple of gridlocks. The driver, I noticed, kept on snorting in disgust. I ignored it. Later, he was already whining "haay! ang trapik! lugi tayo nito!" "kala ko ba naghihirap ang pinoy, eh bakit ang daming sasakyan sa kalye?" My daughter and I just looked at each other and did not reply. But when he said, "tanginaaaa! tatanga ng mga drayber!" referring of course to the other moving vehicles around us, I told him "manong, may bata ho kayong pasahero. wag naman kayo magmura." He kept quiet and stopped whining.
When we got to Eastwood, our fare was at around 170. I gave him a whole 200 bucks. He looked at my 200 and said "plus 50 mo na. Trapik eh! Dapat nga di ko na kayo sinakay!" I told him, "Binigyan kita ng 30 na sobra. Ako ang mag dedecide kung dadagdagan kita. Hindi ikaw ang magdedemand. Kahit saan ka pumunta, matrapik talaga." I, then, went down and joined my daughter who was already standing by the sidewalk.
To my surprise, the driver came out of the taxi and started screaming in the middle of the street "Hoy! Bayaran mo ang oras ko! Bayaran mo ko ng tama!" I was so shocked. I called the guard of Eastwood and told him that the driver was harrasing us. The guard shooed him away. The driver kept on screaming the same words and the guard led him to enter his taxi, telling him he was causing traffic. My daughter then told me to enter the mall and leave the taxi driver.
Good thing I was able to take a photo of him and his taxi details when he was ranting on our way to Eastwood. I already had a suspicion he was up to something.
Beware of this driver!
Thank you FP for publishing this.
Very truly yours,
J. Joya

Deniece Cornejo Slashes Wrist
Source: www.abs-cbnnews.com
The model slashed her left wrist as a "symbolic protest" against the July 11 decision of the Taguig City Prosecutor's Office, her legal counsel Atty. Salvador Panelo said in a statement given to "The Buzz."
Panelo explained that Cornejo already withdrew the case on July 4, days before it was dismissed.
"Deniece Cornejo slashed her wrists this morning to call attention to injustice she is suffering from and as a symbolic protest against the July 11, 2014 anomalous dismissal of the rape case she filed against Vhong Navarro, which rape complaint she already formally withdrew on July 4, 2014, so she could focus on her defense on the serious illegal detention and perjury case filed against her," he said.
"Dismissal of the rape complaint by the City prosecutor of Taguig already previously withdrawn by the complainant Deniece is grave misconduct and smacks of evident bad faith intended to further impair her credibility. She is presently in a state of depression and going through sleepless nights," he added.
The lawyer said her client is still in shock after her complaint was junked.
"She is still in shock why she, who is a victim of sexual abuse, is languishing in jail. She decries the fact that powerful personalities in the movie industry have used their influence on the powers that be and the media to cast her as the heel instead of being the wronged victim," Panelo said.
Meanwhile, the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) clarified that Cornejo did not slash her wist in a suicide attempt.
According to CIDG Chief Benjamin Magalong, Cornejo just wounded her wrist to inscribe the letters "W" and "R" using her eyebrow trimmer at around 3 a.m.
Cornejo's grandfather, Rod Cornejo, explained to "The Buzz" in a text message that the initials stand for Women's Rights.

Ian Thorpe Reveals he is Gay, Describes Struggle with Depression in Tell-All Interview with Sir Michael Parkinson
Source: www.mobile.abc.net.au
In the tell-all interview that aired on Channel Ten on Sunday night, Thorpe also discussed his battle with depression, which he kept secret from his loved ones.
Thorpe had previously insisted he was not gay, and in his 2012 autobiography wrote: "For the record, I am not gay and all my sexual experiences have been straight."
He told Sir Michael he had lied about his sexuality in the past, and said: "I'm not straight. And this is only something that very recently, we're talking in the past two weeks, I've been comfortable telling the closest people around me exactly that."
The five-time Olympic champion said he had wanted to come out for a long time, but "didn't feel as though I could".
"What happened was I felt the lie had become so big that I didn't want people to question my integrity," he said.
"And, you know, a little bit of ego comes into this. I didn't want people to question that... have I lied about everything?"
"I'm comfortable saying I'm a gay man. And I don't want young people to feel the same way that I did. You can grow up, you can be comfortable and you can be gay.
"I was concerned about the reaction from my family, my friends."
Thorpe said his parents were shocked but supportive.
"I'm pleased to say that in telling them, and especially my parents, they told me that they love me and they support me," he said.
"And for young people out there, know that that's usually what the answer is."
Thorpe said although he does not feel like people had a right to ask questions about his sexuality, his life would have been much easier if he had been honest from the start.
"People will criticise me, some people won't like the idea, other people may applaud me for it. But it's... it's me," he said.
"I'm a little bit ashamed that I didn't come out earlier, that I didn't have the strength to do it, I didn't have the courage to do it, to break that lie.
"But everyone goes on their own path to do this."
Thorpe flagged a potential career in politics - something he has "always" been interested in - and said he would like to have a family with a partner in the future.
Thorpe kept depression from friends and family
Thorpe has struggled with depression for much of his life, and was admitted to a rehabilitation facility earlier this year after using antidepressants and medication for a shoulder injury.
Thorpe told Sir Michael he kept his battle private for many years, and at times turned to alcohol as a form of self-medication.
"I didn't want anyone else to know, to share my problems with people, that I'm unhappy because I'm living what is, you know, a dream life for an Australian," he said.
"I am a tremendously successful athlete. I should be having the time of my life, and I'm not.
"And so I decided to keep it from people when I know that the best thing I could have done was to actually speak to my friends, to include my family in this, for people to watch out for me.
"But I wanted to, in some way, protect those people that were close to me... because I saw how happy they were from things that I did and I wanted them to have that."
Asked to describe what living with depression is like, Thorpe said: "You can't get out of bed. You don't want to get out of bed. You know, the only reason you will get out of bed is to use the bathroom."
Sir Michael told News Corp he had wanted to interview Thorpe for a long time.
"Ian Thorpe has always been near the top of my list to interview. The reasons are obvious. Not many athletes can claim to be the best of all time. Ian can," he said.
During the interview, Sir Michael also asked Thorpe how old he was when his father made a remark about his son's rising fame.
"He said 'I think I've just lost my son to the world'. I was 15 at the World Championships. Profound," Thorpe responded.
"It was accurate, it really was. My parents have wanted more than anything else to have their son back."
Australians rally around Thorpe's decision to come out
Australians have rallied behind Thorpe on social media, congratulating Thorpe for his decision to come out.
Actor Magda Szubanski tweeted her support saying: "So happy & proud for @IanThorpe Coming Out in his own time on his own terms. Wish you all things good darling boy. It's fun & free Out here!"
Fellow Olympic swimmer Grant Hackett said he hoped Thorpe's decision to speak publicly will help him move forward.
"Ian and I grew up together. Obviously we went through our careers together and we raced a lot ... but at the end of the day ... who really cares? It's 2014, I don't think anybody's really too concerned about his sexual orientation," Hackett said.
"He's been through a lot this year with depression and other things and hopefully that can allow him, as a person, to move forward."
"They'll see that he himself has gone through a struggle and come out the other side a happier and more comfortable man and that he's being supported for what he's said," Mr Croome said.
"I think that will inspire other Australians, particularly young Australians, to come out as well. I think what Ian has done will save lives.
"Many gay people do experience anxiety and depression because of prejudice, ... discrimination and because they're treated unequally by the laws of the land including by the Marriage Act."
Thorpe later took to Twitter to thank people for their support.
Thorpe's confession to Parkinson came as AFL commenter Brian Taylor was slammed for referring to a player as a "poofter" on live television.
Taylor apologised, but openly gay Australian Rules footballer Jason Ball told ABC radio that homophobic language has been harmful to him personally.
"From my own experience being gay and playing sport, homophobic language was a constant reminder that I wouldn't be accepted if I was to come out," he said.
"That language made me second guess everything that I ever said or did out of fear that someone would figure it out and I think Ian Thorpe has probably been in the same situation throughout most of his life."
Ball said Thorpe will be a role model for other athletes in the public eye who are afraid of coming out.
"Ian Thorpe was quite young when he came into the public spotlight and it's understandable from that early age when you're still figuring things out for yourself, that you can't be expected to come out publicly and be a role model," he said.
"This has no doubt been a source of struggle for Ian Thorpe over many years and I think that his battle with depression and anxiety are possibly linked.
"I offer a big congratulations to Ian Thorpe, I think it would be a big relief for him and no doubt he'll be a role model now for countless people out there who are struggling to come to terms with their sexuality."
The Gay and Lesbian International Sports Association (GLISA) also paid tribute to Thorpe, acknowledging the "psychological pain" he endured while keeping his sexuality a secret.
"For whatever his reasons, which must be respected, he felt unable to be open about his sexuality during the height of his sporting career, which has come at a huge personal cost," president Barry Taylor said in a statement.
"We salute Ian Thorpe for all he achieved in his swimming and we wish him well for the future with the hope that he finds a greater inner peace and a freedom and that he will continue to inspire people as he done as an athlete."
The Human Rights Commission's Susan Ryan - a former senator who penned the 1984 Sex Discrimination Act - said Thorpe's sexuality is his own business, but by speaking out he could help others struggling with their sexual identity.
"I think it just might help some of those teenage kids who think 'Oh, is it alright? Should I try not to be?' ... In the end, it's his business, but it could have a positive effect on young people who are having a bit of a struggle around this question of their sexual identity," she said.
Like or Dislike: DLSU Green Archers Coaching Staff's Uniform

La Salle's coaches almost stole the show on Saturday when they showed up for the Green Archers' UAAP season debut sporting a new look, wearing green neckties and green pants, topped off by a white jacket.
When Spin.ph asked around the league on why coach Juno Sauler and his staff chose to sport a unique look, one La Salle official pointed to top team patron Danding Cojuangco.
“It was Mr. Cojuangco’s idea. He wants the coaching (staff) to have a clean look,” said the official.
Another La Salle executive confirmed that the chique party wardrobe was indeed adopted on the advice of Cojuangco, who wore the same outfit as the coaching staff's.
But when asked if the attire was a part of a ‘pahiyang,’ the official readily laughed and nodded in approval.
If it was indeed a 'pahiyang,' it didn't work. The Archers dropped a 77-82 loss to Far Eastern University and the new look - or more specifically the green pants - took quite a bashing on social media networks.
The game was not the first time that La Salle coaches made a ‘fashion statement.’
Two years ago, the Green Archers’ coaching staff led by former coach Gee Abanilla sported white polo shirts and khaki pants. And then last year, La Salle shifted to its usual polo shirt attire.
Sauler explained that it was the idea of the coaching staff to have a uniform.
“Eto ‘yung uniform namin this year eh,” he said.
The soft-spoken coach who led La Salle to a championship right in his rookie season admitted that his staff has yet to get used to the attire, and even asked the media how it looked on them.
“Maganda ba? Kung maganda ba, tuloy namin. Kung ayaw niyo, palitan namin. Maybe in three days, we will be used to it,” said Sauler said smiling.
Despite the loss and the Twitter bashing, however, Sauler said the coaching stafff has no plan to make a wardrobe change anytime soon.
“No connection to the outcome of the game," said Sauler.

Brandishing His Negative Attitude
Sometime ago, CS was the special guest in an event that honored a significant part of her career. Since the event was the highlight of one of the festivities of the province, several celebrities were at the area. Upon seeing MP, CS wanted to be formally introduced, and thus, she and her companion approached MP. However, instead of acknowledging the presence of a legend, MP looked at them and walked away. Onlookers thought that MP did not know the icon who had just humbly approached him.
When the alleged snubbing incident leaked, the defenders of MP said that his behavior was not at all surprising. They said he was very aloof and always had that nonchalant look. However, the fans of CS said that MP was arrogant and disrespectful of an icon. Of course, no one wanted to believe that MP does not know who CS was.
Incidentally, CS and MP have several things in common. First, both have made their marks in singing. Second, both got involved in habits that almost destroyed their careers. However, the most important similarity is that, third, both had a second chance for their respective careers
There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. 'Good pride' represents our dignity and self-respect. 'Bad pride' is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance. -John C. Maxwell
