TV5 Statement on Deniece Cornejo’s Instagram Post

TV5 Management wishes to clarify that the posting of Deniece Cornejo on her Instagram account last March 21 does not reflect the Network’s position on her legal situation. TV5 adheres to fair and honest reporting and remains neutral on matters that are being decided by the courts. TV5’s research team requested for an off-camera interview with Ms Cornejo to substantiate / verify a statement made by her grandmother, Florencia Cornejo, who was a guest in the program, FACE THE PEOPLE. The show’s topic delved on the stigma of being a Cornejo and the apparent discrimination that their family is experiencing from the general public.

The life of Aging Actress AA has been a roller coaster ride of controversies. Her meteoric rise to fame years ago was met with skepticism from the public who viewed her as some kind of a lowlife: questionable relationships with men to broken friendships with the important people in her life. Add to that were allegations of her fitness and competency as a mother to her kids.

AA wallowed in fame and fortune and enjoyed her life to the hilt. For years, she figured prominently in many showbiz scandals that slowly jeopardized her career. As some observers would say, AA thought her riches and good times were bottomlesss. Nothing can be farther from the truth.

When she slowly began feeling the pinch of bankruptcy from lack of projects, AA allegedly fell into some kind of depression. Yet she tried putting up a strong facade. AA's ego was non-negotiable. She was proud and unyielding amidst all her want.

Consequently, like a lost teenager, friends of AA said she was living and moving directionless. Worse, she tried going back to her old profession to earn some to tide her and her family over. Allegedly, just like what others do under such situation, she also sold some belongings. When everything became too much for AA, that was the time she reportedly became addicted to substance - the dead end for people like her.

The recent squabble she had with a family member opened a can of worms that further revealed more about her true state. Reportedly, she has no more properties to cling to. According to the grapevine, AA sold the last remaining property somewhere east of Manila so that she could support her vice.

Now that the proceeds from the sale were all spent up, AA is now allegedly selling herself to the highest bidder. Reportedly, AA waits for hours for clients to pick her up at a certain club, but to her and her pimps' dismay, there are no more takers. What a very sad finale for a woman who was once hailed as a Goddess.

MMDA Traffic Aide with a Heart of Gold Has One Wish: To Become a Regular Employee

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic constable who was lauded on social media for feeding a starving street-child received on Monday a P5,000 cash incentive, a commendation, a merit badge and medal.

In a simple ceremony held at the agency’s office in Guadalupe, Makati City, MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino also promised Traffic Constable 1 Reynaldo Romano a salary increase on top of college scholarships for two of his children.

The rewards came as a surprise to Romano, a contractual employee of the MMDA for the past 12 years with a daily salary of P400.

“You do something good without expecting anything in return. I did not dream of getting a promotion just because of the children I helped,” he told the Inquirer over the phone.

Romano said he was unaware that he was photographed by a motorist as he was giving food to a child begging for alms. The picture went viral after it was posted on the Facebook page of car magazine Topgear Philippines.

The MMDA constable who lives in an urban poor housing project in Rodriguez, Rizal said he was manning his post on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on March 12 when a child who looked frail and hungry asked him for food.

“I said, ‘It’s already late in the day and you still haven’t eaten.’ I used my last money, the P30 I had in my pocket, to buy food and water,” he said.

“It is not every day that we see civil servants like Mr. Romano going out of his way, spending his last money, to feed a hungry street child that he doesn’t even know. And for this simple deed, he deserves our respect and admiration,” Tolentino said.

Now if only Romano would get his wish: To become a regular employee of the MMDA.
