Rating a Loser

The controversial public servant PS who has relations to one of those implicated in one of the biggest scandals to hit this government is just being consistent with what she really is. For so long, even before she entered politics, there had already been stories of how PS was pictured as someone who is notoriously mean and tight-fisted.

People who are privy to PS swear how much of a stingy she was - and still is - something that’s already bordering on meanness. Reportedly, she applies the same attitude even, or specially towards her own househelp. No househelp should have access to any food without her knowledge. Everything they touch in the house, especially those from the kitchen must first be secured permission from PS. When relatives come a-visiting, household staff are allegedly under strict instruction to be sparse when it comes to food preparation.

Gift-giving is another thing with PS. When her then small kids were asked who they want to receive gifts from, the kids mentioned several family members’ names - except their mother. When asked why, the kids said PS is very “kuripot.”

Many years ago when PS was not yet into politics, she had a weekly show where a high-end salon sponsored her hair and make-up needs. Regularly, PS would go to the salon to do all these and much more, even including her manicure and pedicure, all for free. Being a sponsored celebrity, PS got full and special attention. Despite all that, unlike the salon’s regular and celebrity clients, PS was often stiff and unfriendly. Reportedly, after availing all the salon services, PS would tip them P10.

According to an insider, salon staff SS would much prefer that PS not tip them anymore as they really cringed and felt so small. As for SS, it’s not about being materialistic, for it is their duty to provide professional service to all their clients. It’s just that they felt they were not being treated right by PS. When some regular clients would tip them P50 to P100, and paying-celebrity clients gave at least P200, PS who got everything for free, her P10 tip always left a bad taste in the mouth.

Sources noted that PS recent pronouncements only confirmed all of the above.

Like or Dislike: Ruffa Gutierrez for Metro

Metro magazine’s September issue is set to take readers on yet another international adventure as it highlights the beauty, bravado, and boldness of Italian fashion. This month, we take you on a journey of style as we welcome the new fashion season with the Autumn/Winter 2013 collections of some of Italy’s biggest names: Gucci, Emporio Armani, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta, and Furla—first to be seen in Metro. Juxtaposed against the Tuscan city that is called home by greats such as Dante Alighieri, Sandro Boticelli, and Michelangelo’s David, Florence provided the picture perfect backdrop for our biggest fashion issue of the year. From the dramatic piazzas and historic bridges to the vineyards and villas that show authentic Florentine landscapes, the Metro team orchestrated each picture to show the story we wanted to tell—an Italian contessa, a chic seductress, a woman who embodies the fullness of the Florence lifestyle.

This was a woman who flourished under the spotlight, a fashion persona to be reckoned with, a star who dominates everywhere she goes—none other than Philippine entertainment royalty, Ruffa Gutierrez. An actress, television host, multi-brand endorser, fashion icon, and former beauty queen, Ruffa’s statuesque presence and vivacious personality made her the perfect choice for our September issue. Ruffa took on the character of our heroine, turning heads and drawing a crowd of admirers everywhere we went in Florence.

In this issue, Metro also showcases the best of the Italian collections in a spectacular fashion editorial shot on the streets of Florence. Get ready to imbibe the top trends of A/W 2013 with our comprehensive fashion and beauty trend reports, plus learn what products you should stock up on for the colder months ahead (hint: It’s all about glitz and crimson!). Is She Justified for Asserting Herself?

Network veteran NV’s recent issues with her network HN had sent some tonques wagging amid speculations over the real issues that NV wanted to raise regarding her status in the network.

The recent blow that befell her show had many people in the production involved expressing their disgust over its fate. In front of NV, they seemed okay, but deep within, they were very disheartened knowing that the show was rating well. Reportedly, majority of the talents have also expressed disappointment towards NV for what happened. They assumed that something big must have bothered NV and the show became the sacrificial lamb.

Both PT and the show’s talents felt strongly about loss of income resulting from its unfortunate demise. While others secretly blame NV for being overtaken by her emotions, others also point to NV’s handler for allegedly being the one behind her drastic decision.

Right now, NV is reportedly asking for new terms on her contract. She would not be asking for an increase in talent fee but she wants 2 things:

1.Play or pay contract - meaning she will be paid for a project but if the project gets cancelled for some reason not of her doing, the she will still be paid the same contracted amount. If HN will not agree with play or pay, NV wants a non-exclusive contract.

2. NV’s teleserye timeslot should be on primetime, not in the afternoon or weekend programming. Primetime means program will be aired at reasonable time at least within 1st or 2nd program after the early evening news but not in the late hours.

HN has reportedly not yet responded to NV’s new terms. There are talks that should HN not agree to it, NV is certain of transferring network.

Pedro’s Autumn-Winter 2013 Collection

Pedro's collection this season is inspired by the metropolis, with very urban designs perfect for the fashion-forward market here in the country. One may see how classic staples are given a citified look by infusing cut-outs and sleek lines for women’s shoes and pops of color for men’s footwear.
