Making the Act Right

VA comes from a showbiz family with strong ties with a southern city. When he was introduced as an actor, he was welcomed and was paired with almost all famous actresses during that time. Naturally, his children were bitten by the acting bug as well. One of his children (HS) started with a wholesome career, but had to reinvent herself by doing sexy roles. As soon as HS was commanding as much and had a stable career, VA opted to leave the limelight and go abroad. A few years ago, he made the headlines when he revealed his family had received death threats, which were due to the alleged affair of his actress daughter with a very generous personality.
While VA and his family are quietly living abroad, his name might soon resurface in one of the alleged scams making the bloods of taxpayers boil these days. VA was alleged to be part of those who collected the letters from some public servants, and got commissions due to his work. Hence, VA was even closer to this controversial figure (CF) than the fashion icon turned whistleblower (FW). Incidentally, there was a mention of a car of VA that had to be returned because of missed payments, but it was allegedly taken back by CF when they had a falling out. Now, could this estranged relationship of VA with CF the real reason why he has opted to stay abroad that continue a career here? Will he do as what FW did or will he deny his relationship with CF?

A Blow for a Blow

Actress in Bloom (AB) has been very expressive of her present blissful life. Among many, AB feels perfectly blessed with her lovelife and new-found independence. She makes no bones expressing her joys via social media, always projecting a positive aura and sweet public persona wherever she is. AB has been very vocal that it has been her happiest life so far. However, AB fails to take this positivity where it matters most.
People who have recent encounters with her realized that behind AB’s alleged sweetness lies some bitchiness and arrogance, too. More often, it’s the stars themselves who debunk the public’s positive perception of them. Their disgusting behavior leave people totally dismayed and flabbergasted.
AB’s neighbors have began complaining about her arrogance and callousness regarding the noise that she and her friends cause within the neighborhood. What was once their peaceful existence has turned upside down, noisy and rowdy.
AB loves throwing parties regularly in the house with her friends. Reportedly, they party till the wee hours, totally unmindful of the noise they create amid the stillness of the night - neighbors are like their captive victims for hours. Needless to say, music ceases to be pleasurable when it’s played beyond decibels that one’s ears can take.
A neighbor once complained and politely requested AB to tone down their music since it was already late at night, but the brat in AB surfaced, and instead of getting embarrassed, AB reportedly upped the volume even more. Indeed, AB’s name is a misnomer.
If AB is smart enough, maybe she could have the answer as to why a recent unfortunate event happened. This is not to say that the neighbors are guilty of some cruelty, but let’s play devil’s advocate that the possibility is there. After exhausting all means and not getting results, desperation can get to anybody’s nerves and make one able to hit back at the enemy where it will hurt the most. In this case, with neighbors wanting to send AB a strong message – something so dear to her became the sacrificial lamb.
Moral of the story: Be sensitive to your neighbors and always treat them right.

Is Manny Pacquiao Going Bankrupt?

Is Manny Pacquiao, whose rags-to-riches story has captured the imagination of fight fans around the globe, going bankrupt?
Rex “Wakee” Salud, a long-time confidante of the Filipino boxing superstar, revealed Pacquiao’s financial status in an interview with Sun Star Cebu’s Erwin Lirazan.
"Di lang kay nahurothurot, hurot gyud! (He did not just lose his money, he lost all of it)," said Salud, who has known Pacquiao since he started boxing in the mid-'90s.
Pacquiao rose to superstardom by beating some of the biggest names in boxing including Oscar de la Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales.
He earned millions of dollars through those victories and became one of the top paid boxers in the industry.
Forbes Magazine even listed Pacquiao as the 14th highest paid athlete this year with estimated earnings $34 million from boxing purses and endorsement deals.
However, the boxer doesn’t seem to know how to manage his riches, as he is known to be very generous especially to the poor, according to Salud.
“Daghan man sab gud na siyang gitabangan, dili man na siya kahibalo mobalibad (He helped a lot of people, and he didn’t know how to refuse),” said Salud.
The Filipino boxer is also known for his flamboyant lifestyle as he reportedly owned several mansions in Laguna, General Santos City and Forbes Park, Makati City.
He also owns an extensive collection of expensive cars, including a Ferrari 458 Italia, which he reportedly bought for $309,000 (P13.367 million).
However, some of his biggest expense went to politics.
According to ESPN’s Nigel Collins, Pacquiao spent approximately $8.6 million (around P379 million) in campaign funds for the 2010 and the 2013 elections.
“He spent an estimated $6.6 million on his successful 2010 campaign to become the congressional representative of the district of Sarangani,” Collins said in his ESPN column.
“[His] wife Jinkee and brother Rogelio also ran for office [in 2013], and it cost Pacquiao approximately $2 million to finance the campaigns,” the analyst said.
Salud hinted that Pacquiao is now motivated to fight because of money.
“Unya dugay sab siyang wala makaaway. Hurot man gani ang iyang kuwarta katong sige siya’g away, karon pa kaha nga hapit usa ka tuig una siya moaway og balik (He always ran out of money when he was still actively fighting, even more so when he stopped fighting for almost a year now),” said Salud.
The last time Pacquiao fought was in December 2012 when he lost to Juan Manuel Marquez via a shocking sixth-round knockout.
He had to take a long furlough from boxing because of the way he got knocked out.
Just recently, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau’s Steve Angeles reported that Pacquiao is selling off his Los Angeles mansion for $2.7 million.
The boxer bought the five-bedroom Mediterranean style home for $2.17 million in 2009.
Salud said the Brandon Rios fight this November will be Pacquiao’s last chance. If he fails again, then it’s over for the Filipino boxer, said the veteran boxing promoter.
“Last card na kini ni Manny, kon mapilde siya angay na siyang mo-retire (This is Pacquiao’s last card. If he loses, then I think it’s time to retire),” he said.
Kristine Hermosa is Still Waiting for the ‘Right’ Project

In an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph recently, the 29-year-old actress excitedly shared that she has been raring to come back ever since her last project ended some two-and-a-half years ago. “Actually matagal ko naman ng gusto, but you know I’m just being patient in really waiting for the right project," Kristine shared.
Her last TV project with the Kapamilya network was the Piolo Pascual-starrer, Noah where she played the role of Diwatang Eva. From then on she has concentrated on being a mother to her kids Kristian Daniel and Ondrea Bliss and a wife to her husband, actor Oyo Boy Sotto.
When she says right project, what Kristine actually meant was a project with a decent schedule, one that "hindi ko kailangang i-sacrifice yung time ko for my family. Yung hindi ako mawawalan ng oras for my children and for my husband and yung hindi stressful."
As a mother, Kristine reasoned that time was her primary requirement because she didn't want to miss out on the formative years of her two children. Hence, she's hoping to be part of a show or project with possibly a twice-a-week taping schedule and preferably not with yet another heavy drama theme. “Kasi buong buhay ko sa showbiz yun ang ginagawa ko eh. Parang yun ang gusto kong gawin, yung something na hindi mabigat," said the former Pangako Sa 'Yo star.
According to Kristine, heavy drama tends to drain so much energy from an actor. "Kasi kapag gumawa ka ng drama kailangan mo ng napakahabang rest. And siyempre hindi ko magagawa yun when you have children tapos may husband ka na you have to spend time with. Kasi dati, three times a week or four times a week kaya ko eh kasi hawak ko yung time ko eh. So parang ayokong mapasubo, kumbaga parang ayokong mag-commit sa hindi ko kayang mapanindigan all throughout," Kristine explained.
Furthermore, Kristine said she feels that she can offer something more acting-wise aside from just crying her heart out. “Kasi ang tagal ko naring ginagawa ito eh kaya ko naman ng iba. Kaya ko naman mag-action or comedy. Kaya naman eh, medyo nasanay lang kasi ang mga tao na yun ng yon ang ginagawa ko kaya yun ng yon ang hinahanap nila. Pero siguro kapag nakita naman nila ako sa iba [parang tatanggapin rin naman siguro nila ako]."
In parting, Kristine urged her fans to "pray harder" for the "right" project to come along. “Let’s pray harder na meron na meron ng ibigay si God na katulad ng mga sinabi ko na light, happy lang, yung may matututunan sila talaga na hindi lang puro about love na drama-drama kasi ma-drama na nga yung buhay natin in real life so kailangan natin ng something to uplift us," Kristine quipped.
She continued, "Nami-miss ko na rin. Siyempre nami-miss ko narin yung TV tsaka yung big screen. Pero if hindi pa right time at hindi pa binibigay ni God yung right time and right project, so I’ll be patient kasi siya yung masusunod."
