The Very Determined, Angsty, and Gritty Talents

Several years ago, underrated actor UA was the toast of his network - looks, talent, and popularity, he had it then. However, UA realized that he would always be third in line as the network had two prized and more popular hunks. A major incident with a powerful executive PE ended his career in the network, and severed his ties with PE. Thus, UA bolted out and moved to another network (AN).
As promised, UA was given solo projects in AN. However, his fame slowly waned as his projects did not generate the expected viewership. Adding to his woes, AN continued to recruit other bigger-named celebrities, and worse, AN hired PE for a position that will affect the future of UA. Poor UA, his contract with his manager had already expired, and there is no news as to the plan of AN for him.
Unlike UA, reclusive actor RA was extremely successful in his transfer to a big network BN. As soon as he moved, BN used its public relations machinery to generate interest in RA, and he was immediately cast in a teleserye. In a few weeks time of airing, RA became a household name as the program was a big hit. However, RA was a disaster when it came to dealing with the press. He did not welcome questions about his life. After a not-so-encouraging second major project, RA shunned the press more.
While nothing has been heard about RA in the past weeks, stories circulated that he might be moving to another network.
While AN and UA are recognized actors, gritty host GH has made a name by being a fixed face in the hosting chores of his network. Regardless of the type of show, GH can stand on his own and deliver a competent job. However, as his network seems to be bent on refocusing its programs, GH is not as visible these days. Sometime ago, GH posted something in his social networking account that was interpreted as his way of saying that he was about to move on to something new.
Behind every cloud has a silver lining, but fate has something different for UA, RA, and GH. UA will indeed move to another network, where he and RA will do a show. Thus, this project will end speculations that RA might move again. RA still has a live contract with his current network, and thus, leaving is not an option. Finally, as for GH, well, his emoting spiel did not generate anything. In other words, GH stays put for now.
Who are UA, RA, and GH? Will they find that elusive satisfaction in their careers soon or will showbiz be better off without them?

Is the Caring and Loving Worth Keeping?

Surely, everyone of us has witnessed people do the craziest, sometimes unbelievable acts in the name of love – or motive of whatever. What we consider as overboard or an exaggeration is out of our judgment, but the person's own.
Generous Cat GC is a simple lass with humble beginnings. Since her winning in a nationwide contest some years ago, GC has since bloomed to be a graceful swan – a peg for someone her fans will die for to defend at all cost. Her steady stream of projects that spell millions is everybody’s envy. To a certain extent, it adds to her massive appeal.
It is no secret in showbiz that GC is known to spend and spoil people who are close and mean a lot to her. It is at this point that people privy to her often advise her to be careful in her choice of friendships/relationships, lest she’ll fall prey to be counted among “friends with benefits.” At any rate, GC has a mind of her own and does whatever pleases her.
Recently, GC had experienced one of the biggest crisis of her life. That controversial chapter reportedly devastated her a lot. It was at this point that “partner” aka rumored Gay Hunk GH stood by and took all the cudgels for her - something that must have overwhelmed GC.
As a show of gratitude, GC threw a lavish party for GH on his birthday. Reportedly, the cost of the party amounted to hundreds of thousands of pesos – it was then GH’s turn to be overwhelmed. So touched he was that he was often heard excitedly talking about it to every Tom, Dick and Harry. Some observers could only smile at HG with full sarcasm. They couldn’t help but recall how only a few months back, HG wouldn’t even touch GC with a ten-foot pole. He even detested so much having his name attached to or even mentioned alongside GC during his interviews.
Truly, this goes to show that nothing is ever permanent. In the case of GH, he opted the easier route, for rightly or wrongly – whether he admits or not - he is definitely riding and benefiting a lot from the good tidings coming his way – courtesy of his very generous partner.

Perpetually Despised

Certainly, being a celebrity is never easy. From giving it your best in every public performance, your all in every take, you also are expected to look perfect from every angle and be amiable towards people, most especially your supporters, the masses, the people who continuously help you stay at the top. Nevertheless, it is still a dream job for most if only for the fame and huge money in exchange for such little discomforts.
SA is apparently very oblivious to this logic. During a recent event in the province, people were very disappointed with him, who was as elusive as a panda - choosing to stay inside the comforts of the van he was riding in, feigning a headache when he was supposed to be on top of it for a motorcade. He didn't want to be bothered in his hotel room, and had also denied the media any interviews. The public officer in charge of the event was pulling his hair in frustration but SA remained indifferent.
Likewise, one insider in SA's weekly noontime show also was in absolute shock at having first-hand experience at SA's arrogance and seemingly rude behaviour. What's more appalling is that his mother has been very tolerant of his son's attitude.
It would be amazing to see the numbers of SA's legion of young fans drop. With his lenient mother and no sensible advisers in sight, who knows what the future brings to SA, who does nothing but live up to his overrated image.

Billy Crawford and Nikki Gil Have Called It Quits
After four and a half years of being together, the high-profile couple decided to end their relationship quietly. Once touted as one of showbiz’s long enduring relationships, Billy and Nikki shocked loved ones as they broke the news to them.
Billy tried to save the relationship, but Nikki found it best to sever it off for their own good. In the end, it was a mutual decision.
Earlier in the relationship, Billy and Nikki thought, and everyone believed that they would end up together. They were in fact seriously talking about buying a house of their own and some investments, too. But things happen for a reason, and years after, the separation was the best option for the both of them.
They confirmed though that there was no third party involved in the break-up. When asked to elaborate why, Billy admitted that perhaps, they kind of grew tired with each other and before they knew it, they felt they were already and slowly growing apart.
Nonetheless, both of them are thankful for the 4 ½ years of beautiful memories.

Celebs lead such charmed lives, you may be surprised to know that most of them have a kuripot streak. Just like lesser mortals, their gross spending doesn’t always match their net income.
Take, for instance, this young TV host/actress who demands to split the bill every time she dines out with friends—as in, she makes sure everyone pays the exact same amount. Or, the wife of a seasoned actor who buys fake branded shirts for her hubby’s TV appearances. There’s also this former matinee idol who relies on ex-deals for almost everything—from hotel accommodations to groceries.
There’s nothing wrong with being frugal. After all, it’s not how much you earn but how much you save. This is especially true in the unpredictable world of show biz, where you can be a millionaire today and a pauper tomorrow. The trappings of success can indeed be a trap. It reminds me of a poster which says: “Money talks! All mine says is goodbye!”

Spending wisely is very important because many people don’t have jobs. Also, I prioritize my scholars, and family members who need help for their medical needs. They are more important to me than material wealth. That’s not spending; that’s saving—saving lives.

I always buy what I really need. Occasionally, I buy what I want. I compare prices when I go to the grocery. I buy what I think is reasonably priced, quality-wise. In restaurants, I don’t mind paying more if the food is great. I eat well and exercise to avoid getting sick so I don’t have to spend on medication. As for expensive bags, I think a hundred times until my husband buys it for me.

I get to scrimp on hair care because I always wear a hat. I don’t need fancy gels and waxes. I don’t even need a brush. Mas magulo ang buhok ko, mas gusto ko. But I never scrimp where my family is concerned. I want my wife Felicia and our kids to have the best that life has to offer. Spending wisely means the biggest allocations are for important things, such as a beautiful home and quality education. After money is set aside for these, then you can spend on luxury.
