These days, ‘woke’ is used to describe socially aware persons, who are brave enough to articulate their thoughts on issues they find questionable or disagreeable. Unlike before when celebrities are limited to only acting, today’s personalities have used their social media presence to react to social and political issues. Such posts trigger reactions from followers who praise or dismiss celebrity views.
Although the active involvement of celebrities into areas other than acting shows holistic persona, higher ups tend to feel uneasy. When a celebrity unleashes social commentary directed at powerful personalities or policies, reactions are uncontrollable. Celebrities are then prone to bashing regardless of views. A bashed celebrity also faces withdrawal of endorsements as most companies do not want to be associated with political views.
Rumors are abuzz that management has instructed all employees, regardless of departments, to exercise prudence in dishing opinions, especially if these statements are directly political and critical. While several talents have followed the said instructions, some have not. Thus, their contracts are no longer prioritized.
For example, a Celebrated Personality (CP) was offered early retirement, as the management was allegedly unhappy with her performance during interviews with certain public servants. Hence, CP was removed from a couple of shows and left with a non-political one to ensure she keeps her presence on air. By contrast, Vocal Personality (VP) seems untouchable, as his presence equals high ratings. VP is known to be woke, as well. Other celebrities were given the go-signal to explore other possibilities. It seems the management does not want to attract further attention other than from the viewers.

Serene Girlfriend (SG) is not known to be vocal about her past and present relationships. Many times, SG tried to hide her relationships with her past lovers. Perhaps, keeping her relationships private was a management strategy to keep her mysterious. However, when secrets leak, SG could only go with the flow of subsequent circumstances.
In one of those relationships, SG experienced every partner’s nightmare, that is, discovering another woman’s underwear in the room of One Lover (OL). SG thought all was well with OL, who was supportive and encouraging. OL seemed to have promised SG a good life and the best part was that fans rooted for their relationship to become forever. Nonetheless, seeing panties that she did not own triggered an argument.
SG confronted OL, who became angry. OL said SG was meddlesome and in the heat of anger, allegedly almost hit her. SG left. Unknown to SG, OL had been inviting women whenever she was not around. By contrast, SG stuck to having one man at a time and that was OL then. Eventually, the relationship ended. SG accepted the reality and moved on.
Later, SG found out that OL was going to wed. Despite talking about marriage, OL never proposed to SG. Admittedly, SG was hurt but she kept away from expressing her feelings in social media. Posts of OL added insult to injury, as SG felt those uploads were somehow meant for her. SG believed she did not deserve such words. SG further confided to a friend that the posts could have resulted from her having hurt OL’s ego by not asking to be taken back by him after the break up and quickly having moved on by herself.

After undergoing many trials together, A Talent (AT) shocked the production team with a pronouncement that made them question if all was indeed well in front of and behind the cameras. To comfort AT, her friends asked her if she’s okay and said she was just emotional at that moment, but she has moved on. Still, her declaration sparked discussion within the production and even among fans because AT did not reveal any names.
Surprisingly, the root of the matter seemed to be an incident that was overheard by a Production Staff (PS). PS overheard Other Talent (OT) telling writers that AT’s expressions were hard to cope with. In short, the slowness of OT to catch the wit thrown by AT might result in an unsatisfactory exchange of lines. OT thus requested not to be partnered with AT and suggested partnering AT with Quick Responder (QR). QR can catch the punchline in the lamest and corniest lines, anyway. It was more of ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ on the side of OT. OT perhaps only wanted what would be better for the program.
PS told the story to AT. Even if PS said that OT had good intentions, AT took OT’s statements negatively. Sometime ago, OT allegedly gave tokens of appreciation. AT was not given one, as things were still temporary. It’s not the object, but the idea that OT had not yet recognized the presence of AT that could have started the whiff of awkwardness.

When Actress 1 (A1) and Actress 2 (A2) were given the management’s proposal, questions were raised. A1 and A2 have worked for quite a while with the management and were shocked at allegedly being downgraded to a per project contract. The feeling was close to being insulted, as the offer seemed to negate all the contributions of A1 and A2. Most of the projects of A1 and A2 were praised by viewers and critics. Their efforts have been recognized by award-giving bodies. The two have accepted projects given to them, including controversial and daring ones.
The response to their predicament centered on cost-cutting measures implemented by the management. Many talents possess open contracts and not exclusive ones, which assure pay even without work within the contract duration. However, the answer was doubtful to the two given that certain talents still enjoyed exclusive contracts and non-homegrown talents were being given shows.
Rather than merely accept things, A1 moved on to show that she’s very viable. Last minute moves might prevent A2 from leaving. A significant person is now backing her up and the management values this person’s insights.
Meanwhile, rumors are abuzz that the cost-cutting measures are initial steps in trying to sign up Actress 3 (A3). By letting go of certain talents and downgrading several contracts, management might be in a better financial situation to present A3 an offer that will be hard to refuse.
