Questionable Loyalty

Netizens are closely monitoring social media posts and calling out celebrities who seem to be indifferent to relevant issues. While certain celebrities have reacted to such clamor, others have remained nonchalant and preferred to not respond. Prior to the rabid calls coming from the external audience, network insiders have assigned people to monitor who are showing unity with their cause. Findings showed that a Co-Star (CS) of Loyal Talent (LT) seems to be living in his own world and unmindful of issues around him and his network.

When the management encouraged calls for network support, CS remained quiet. His distant behavior continued when the decision came out. CS maintained posting about his usual routine in his social media accounts, such as food and family activities. Many saw his behavior as a sign of not caring for people who helped him when he was down on his luck. Among the talents, CS is among the lucky ones, that is, he has projects while other homegrown talents have nothing at all. Meanwhile, LT was asked about the behavior of CS, and he had to find out for himself. Subsequently, LT contacted CS.

During their conversation, LT learned that CS was playing the neutral game and that he did not want to dip his fingers into the issue. In addition, CS believed the network was doomed anyway. He just wanted to play his cards right so that he could go to other networks if things worsened. LT could not sense any hardcore loyalty on the part of CS. When LT pointed out that stars from the rival network were expressing strong support, CS responded that every thing he gained from their network came from his hard work and he is not obligated to go further. LT stopped probing, as he felt that, in order to support his family, CS could seek work from other networks.

As a talent for hire for various off-network activities, Versatile Performer (VP) was not spared from the detrimental effects of the pandemic. Events, such as weddings and parties, were cancelled, regardless of size. Out of town gigs and corporate gatherings that needed entertainers were no longer scheduled. People strictly followed the non-contact rule imposed by experts and organizers did not want to risk arrest for disobeying social gathering. With his gigs having no clear schedule, VP found his savings dwindling down and he had to think of ways to fend for the expenses of his family.

VP sent feelers through his friends to companies that might provide opportunities for him to earn with his talent. Unfortunately, the company he was targeting said that certain talents were prioritized over applicants, regardless of their reputation. To complicate the situation, VP’s kin had to be hospitalized and hospital expenses added to his woes. While he thought of contacting his former workmates, he was embarrassed as most were in a similar situation.

VP reached out to well-off talent, who generously extended financial help. However, he still had to find the means to support his daily needs. Thus, he could no longer be choosy and any project, whether big or small meant much to him. As long as he could earn, he accepted the project. Meanwhile, other workers who felt he was quite presumptuous earlier on, could not help make comments that VP has met his bad karma fast.

Stories of celebrities who have forsaken their relations and forgotten about family support are common. Aggrieved or neglected relatives would come on air to call out their famous kin for financial help and the like. Consequently, the public is given a picture of how celebrities can be mean and ungrateful toward relatives. Given the clannish nature of Filipinos, such behavior is frowned upon. Hence, celebrities are targeted by bashers and made guilty for their lack of concern for their family. Even if the said celebrities contradict claims, damage has already been done.

If some celebrities consciously neglect their kin, Male Personality (MP) is different. As the pandemic has resulted in lack of work for most people, MP’s Close Kin (CK) was not spared and MP has been doing his best to help CK with finances. One day, MP’s Partner (HP) was looking at the bank transactions of MP and was surprised at the huge amounts withdrawn. HP trusted MP and never suspected a third party, whom MP could be supporting. HP had to know and asked MP, as he had not been saying anything. HP even thought that MP might be dreadfully sick.

MP revealed that he has been helping CK, who has yet to resume work. The withdrawals were for household needs of CK. HP is on good terms with MP’s kin. She remained calm despite realizing that the withdrawals were not peanuts. Instinctively, HP suggested to MP to advise CK to tone down the lifestyle and she was willing to offer their unoccupied condo to lessen expenses. MP responded and asked HP to mind her own business. After all, MP is using his own money, as they have separate accounts anyway. MP stressed that CK is blood and could turn to him when needed. HP kept quiet and did not press the matter, which could lead to an argument. As long as her savings would remain intact, she would have no problem. In addition, HP was relieved as MP has no other party and was not ill.

Hurry Up

Long hours of trips can sometimes bring the unexpected and the weariness of travel into a wonderful experience. Sometime ago, Network Actor (NA) did not realize that his joining a friend in travel could result in controversy. As soon as his management found out he went on a trip, NA received a phone call asking him to explain why he took off without properly informing his bosses. NA reasoned out that he was with a friend and that his trip should not be such a big issue. Nonetheless, his management was unhappy at his decision.

Stress took its toll on NA, as he had no idea what waited for him when he goes back to his network. Thus, he shared his apprehension with the other people in the team and they talked about possible actions to take in case NA gets reprimanded. To relieve his stress, NA turned to drinking to calm him down. A Male Member (MM) of the team joined him and they continued to drink, even if the other team members have gone to bed for an early trip back home in the morning.

As the sun was starting to rise, the team members were already preparing their stuff. One Member (OM) noticed that NA and MM were still not around. OM proceeded to the room, where they left the two drinking. When the door opened, another companion was shocked to see the two naked and NA hugging MM. OM did not have time to be shocked as they had to leave immediately, and thus woke up the two. When NA realized his scene, he started explaining that the night was too hot, which was why they stripped down. OM was unmoved and told them to hurry up, as they have another trip to take. OM probably realized that NA had a very happy night after all.

Moving on and accepting reality are two of the most difficult actions after a breakup. In celebrity relationships, the public is the last to know unless the parties involved are heavy social media users. Sometimes, people are not even aware that the parties were together in the first place and only verify suspicion when an announcement of a breakup is made.

Individuals have different ways of coming to terms with reality. Others take on new hobbies and interests. Some spend time traveling to places they’ve never been to and still, others would busy themselves with work just as long as they would not have time to think about their relationship issues. Sadly, others would turn to drinking and questionable behavior just to remove the fact that everything is over and done.

When Male Personality (MP) started sending feelers, netizens spewed wild speculations over his possible motive. Anxiety and depression caught up with MP, who felt worse when a rumor reached him that his Former Lover (FL) allegedly cheated on him. MP apparently wanted closure by finding out if the rumor had truth behind it. MP tried to contact FL, but his attempts were futile. One post led to another in the hopes of gaining attention, but he was blocked by people he sought for clarification.

With his behavior, his friends started to worry and believed he might need professional help. However, they also realized that MP seems to be enjoying the attention, which is the reason for them to let him be. In addition, they are thinking that MP is exhibiting ways of coping with his personal issues.
