Repost: James Reid Enjoying Management-Free Career, Denies Transferring to Another Network

On the sidelines of his launch as the latest brand ambassador for American watch brand Armitron, James Reid opened up about why he decided to leave VIVA and go on his own.

While his girlfriend Nadine Lustre still remains under the management of VIVA, Reid reassures fans that his working relationship with her won't be affected at all.

"It hasn't been affected at all right now. We're still working together. We're all on good terms which is great. I just have a bit more freedom now, that's all," he said.

James Reid also cleared up that he doesn't have plans to be handled by another talent management agency.

"No. I don't think so. I like having the freedom right now," he stated.

Having finished his stint as a judge for Idol Philippines recently, James was also asked if a new project under Dreamscape Entertainment is on the way. To which he replied: "No. Not right now. None."

As much as he is enjoying the freedom that he has right now, James said he also feels scared about what's to come knowing he is now on his own.

"It's great, but it's also scary knowing that it's just me," he said.

James, a music label executive himself, added: "But I'm focusing a lot on my record label right now. I want to give it a chance. I want to see how far I can take my music. And I have big plans for it," he said.

The 26-year-old Kapamilya celebrity, who wants to put his focus on his music career, also made it clear that he will still be doing movie projects in the future.

"I still plan to do big movies. I'm not giving up show business or anything. I still plan to do movies. I'm just waiting for the right project," he stated.

Meanwhile, James Reid gave a resounding "no" when asked about rumors of him transferring to another network.

Getting Another Chance

Celebrities are investments as far as networks are concerned. As employees, a network expects its talents to attract viewers and having high viewership means more advertisers. Networks make money only if advertisers are willing to place ads and thereby, purchase air time. These days, viewers are celebrity-followers as well and social media accounts are the direct ways to express their comments.

When netizens noticed something amiss at the social media posts of a female celebrity, most speculated she was hurt. After posting messages of support for the said celebrity, netizens turned to social media as their weapon to get back verbally at the Cause of Hurt (CH). CH trended, as bashers thrashed his social media accounts to show their displeasure. The negativity worried Big Boss (BB), as anything/anyone associated with CH might lose potential endorsements.

Allegedly, BB called CH to a meeting and gave him a strict warning along with a rule that had to be followed if he wants his career afloat. The rule is that he is not allowed to establish any close relationship with his female leads. CH has been consistently involved in rumors linking him to actresses in his projects. Even a veteran actress was not spared from being linked to him and this rumor was something BB could not shake off his head.

If CH used to get away with his shenanigans, this time, his alleged actions are closely monitored and have been observed to affect the revenues of his projects. His projects are not cheap and with his successive flops, the management cannot afford losses simply because he could not control his libido.

As a piece of advice, BB told CH that he should see a doctor and seek professional help to solve his insatiable appetite to be of service to actresses even if he’s supposed to be loyal and committed to one.
