Looking Out for His Peer

Every actor is reminded that a career will not always be a bed of roses in terms of finances. Thus, during lucrative times, when projects bring in the money, reminders are given for actors to save up for a rainy day or when the time comes when the career is gone. While many actors seem to have negated this advice and find themselves in financial bind later on, Frugal Actor (FA) knew that the time would come when he would need his earnings to live comfortably.

During the peak of his career, FA could not seem to do something wrong in his career. Financially, all his projects were highly anticipated and thus guaranteed box-office security. In the process, FA saved much and was even tagged as frugal by certain sectors who have grown to expect that celebrities should be giving them gift during occasions. FA was different, as he did bother to spend on others merely to show his camaraderie or be assured of good PR. FA spent his earnings on investing in property and other tangible assets that would increase in value in the future.

One day, FA decided to leave everything behind. After all, he already believed he had much in his savings that could allow him to support his decision. While FA lived as he pleased, reality set in, as his lifestyle could no longer be sustained if he continued without any income-generating endeavor. Thus, he started selling off certain possessions to ensure his spending.

When FA approached a Close Colleague (CC) for something he was allegedly selling, CC’s heart softened. Knowing how FA has been struggling, CC offered his friend an option of doing a project. FA hesitated, as he knows he will be unprepared and half-hearted in any film project. CC said that was not he was thinking about, as his idea was more of a short-term but lucrative venture. CC volunteered to negotiate a deal that would fit FA. As he trusts CC deeply, FA agreed and soon, the deal was rolling. With CC’s plan and his care for friends, FA would no longer have to lose his investments and perhaps, in time, realize that the industry needs him still and he just needs to express that he wants to come back.
