Tightly Locked Secret
However, things are too good to be true, as VP has his dark secret. VP could have perhaps hidden this secret because he knows that the local audience would not see him far from what his secret is. Thus, before seriously venturing into his career, he made sure he deleted all traces in his social media accounts.
Rumors have it that VP used to have a Male Lover (ML) prior to him seriously considering the local entertainment field. One night, VP spotted ML at a typical party. Although ML had another date, VP insisted on making the moves on ML. Although he was drunk, VP was feeling strong urges to make sure the night would not be over until he ends up in bed with ML. VP’s plan was successful that night, and soon, ML broke off his own straight relationship and ended up with VP. Unfortunately, the relationship of VP and ML only lasted for a few months. VP was even seen sobbing at a local gay club and telling friends that he was hurting because ML cheated on him.
Now, VP is moving towards a successful career in showbiz, and he seems to be determined to make a mark. He knows what he has to do, and the first thing he did was to conform to making an image that he thought would be attractive to female fans. He erased all possible links that would lead to his sexual preference. The challenge is up to how long VP will be able to keep up with his boy-next-door image and handle female fans. His talented parents are aware that success in the industry means maintaining an image, and coming out is not an option for someone who wants to establish a career locally.

Jessy Mendiola was extremely proud of Luis Manzano after the TV host was included in People Asia’s roster of the “men who matter.”
Mendiola was with Manzano when he received the recognition and the actress was just all smiles as people congratulated her boyfriend.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe, Mendiola said: “Noong nalaman nga niya na siya pa 'yung cover, sabi niya sa akin, ‘Bakit ako?’ To all of us, he is doing something great.”
“We all know him as someone who is very hardworking, passionate and very talented. Kilala natin siya on and off cam so you do really matter not just to me but to everyone,” she added.
Manzano, for his part, said he is just overwhelmed and really honored to be included in the list of achievers.
“Kahit ako, nahihiya nga ako. I guess I am doing something okay the past year to be recognized by People Asia. Thank you very much for this. This is a very special award especially that we found out na my dad and I are the first father and son who received this award. Dad para sa iyo din ito,” he said.
WEDDING BELLS SOON?
Meanwhile, Mendiola was flattered when informed of all the good words Manzano’s mother, veteran actress Vilma Santos, had said about her.
“Sobrang thankful ako. Noong unang beses ko sa bahay nila, sobrang warm ng welcome niya sa akin. Wala akong masabi kapag siya ang kaharap ko. Thankful lang ako na ang bait niya sa akin,” she said.
With how their relationship is going, the two admitted that they have already been talking about settling down.
“Sometimes you know if a conversation is taken so lightly. But when we talk about it, alam mo na may seriousness about it, there’s really the forethought na we take those words [seriously]. There are so much behind those words being spoken,” Manzano said.
They, however, have yet to decide on when exactly they would tie the knot.
