Great Cover Up

One evening, Celebrity Husband (CH) decided to surprise Busy Wife (BW) at the office and take her to dinner. For the past weeks, CH realized that BW has been staying late in the office and was even doing all-nighters. As the nature of their business requires much paper work and making sure every company task is properly organized, BW working overtime is not unusual for CH until that night.

CH and BW have been married for quite a time. In the entertainment industry, a marriage that lasts for more than five years is considered remarkable and a couple married longer would be deemed ideal. CH and BW were often admired for their relationship as husband and wife, and as parents to their kids. When they were starting out, CH was bashed for the mismatch between him and BW. His fans did not like the idea of him getting married to BW, but they could not do anything, as he was in love with BW. Of course the feelings were reciprocated, or so CH thought.

A few weeks before CH got the surprise of his life, the office hired a good-looking Utility Man (UM). UM was young and appealing. Based on a recommendation, he was immediately hired. UM stayed in the office, but sometimes he did errands outside. For CH, UM was just another employee who was hired by the office.

Thus, when CH opened the door to the office of BW to surprise her, he was stunned to see two pairs of legs moving on the floor. BW and UM were doing something a married woman should not do with another man. CH could not say anything. He was too kind-hearted to scream and make a big deal at that moment. Besides, at his age, sudden anger might lead to physical complications. He slammed the door and walked out.

At home, CH confronted BW, as he could not understand the reason why she would cheat on him. The overtime excuses were merely to cover up the intimate moments BW spent with UM. Nonetheless, the two of them talked deeply and asked the above for enlightenment. It seems that BW has urges that CH could not meet, as his life was complicated when it comes to such matters. The two agreed that they did not want a scandal, and any action that they will do must not give a hint that all is not well between them.

CH needed someone to talk to, as he was very lost. Accepting that BW was capable of cheating on him was unthinkable. CH found a shoulder to cry on in Popular Personality (PP), who seems to be dragged in issues of being cheated on. PP advised CH to hang on and read the good book, and perhaps enlightenment might happen that would make him understand.

‘Monogamy is desirable for many reasons, especially in creating a stable, emotionally connected home for children. But judging from centuries of human behavior, it is also a very difficult standard to meet.’
