Abusive and Lucrative Strategy

A recent phenomenon that is proliferating in the entertainment industry is the existence of various fan groups locally and internationally. In the past and present, fan groups were committed to supporting their idols via patronizing their programs, movies, endorsed products, and other related activities. Whenever a celebrity is having a concert, be it in a mall or in a huge venue, expect fan groups to be the first to purchase tickets and reserve seats, as well as scream their hearts out during the show.

Fans can be materially lucrative. To show their admiration, fans often save up and spend their savings to buy gifts they could give to their idols. Thus, it is no longer surprising for a celebrity to come home with several bags of gifts coming from fans. Most of these gifts are expensive, and fans will do most anything to make sure their idols will have an easier time.

When Network Talent (NT) was discovered in a reality show, her fan base obviously increased, given her exposure then. Viewers were endeared to the image she portrayed on TV. As the network saw her potential, she was immediately given breaks and was linked with another discovery who belonged to the same age group. Thus, despite her short stint, she has, at the very least, earned a substantial amount given her projects.

The fans started approaching NT and subjected her with the usual fan behavior. Whenever she was performing, her fans assured her of support via screams and their social media posts. In addition, the fans showered her with gifts, as a sign of their thoughtfulness. As the gifts were coming in, NT and Her Supervisor (HS) often hinted on stuff, such as shoes, clothes, makeup, etc., that they wanted to receive. Fans reacted by sending the gifts NT and HS wanted. However, some fans thought that NT and HS might be going a bit too far by asking fans to pay for their utility bills. Allegedly, NT and HS have charmed their way into convincing some fans to take responsibility for paying their household bills. Sometimes, fans abroad show their support, as they only want success for their idols. So, without much thinking, they send gifts, which NT and HS appreciate much.

Nonetheless, asking fans to shoulder their household bills seems amiss, considering that NT has various projects, and therefore, a means to earn.

Failing to Mend a Relationship

This good-looking couple surprised the public when all signs showed that they were officially together. Their social media accounts were full of photos showing them in various places and obviously enjoying each other’s company. While they do look good with each other, several reactions were targeted at questioning why Pretty Girl (PG) chose to have a relationship with Hunk Celebrity (HC).

PG easily entered showbiz because of her looks and achievement. Obviously, she was a head turner and had appeal. Similarly, HC was given the break because of his looks, especially, his physique. Besides, at that time, there was clamor for differently-looking talents. After a few appearances, HC was accepted by the public and the networks gave him opportunities to show that he could be built up.

In terms of their lovelife, they had similarities as well. PG had a high profile relationship with Talented Actor (TA), while HC was linked to an Entertaining Woman (EW). However, both did not prosper in their relationships. While PG and TA seemed destined for the altar, HC and EW had a short relationship, which some even labeled as mere gimmick. As women seemed to gravitate toward him, HC had another short-lived affair with the mother of his child. Sadly, for PR, their followers were shocked when TA broke up with her. It seemed sudden, but not surprising, as TA already had a reputation for quick breakups.

Seeing PG and HC as a couple seemed to be a match made in heaven after their tumultuous failures at love. However, people commented that PG should think twice, as HC has yet to prove his financial worth. She was even warned that she might lose her savings to fend for HC. Nonetheless, she kept her ground and tried to prove her detractors wrong. They even went on an overseas trip across the globe.

Recently, their followers noticed that they were hardly posting photos of each other. This development raised questions on the status of their relationship. Has PG finally woken up to reality that HC might not be the man for her? Have the other responsibilities of HC affected his relationship with PG? If they have indeed broken up, silence seems to be the best route they have taken.
