Repost: DZRH Suspends Mocha Uson’s Program Over Anti-Robredo Remarks
Radio station DZRH has suspended a commentary program anchored by Mocha Uson, the singer-dancer who has become President Duterte’s ardent supporter and propagandist.
The “indefinite suspension,” confirmed to the Philippine Daily Inquirer by DZRH personnel, came after the radio station received complaints from listeners, who found malicious Uson’s remarks against Vice President Leni Robredo, that were captured on live streaming on social media.
DZRH is operated by the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC).
One of the complainants, Jozy Acosta-Nisperos, head of the civil society group The Silent Majority, sent MBC president Ruperto Nicdao Jr.. a formal letter that pointed out Uson’s violations of broadcasting rules:
“On March 18, during a live streaming of her segment on DZRH, Uson verbally attacked Vice President Leni Robredo in a coarse, vicious language dripping with malice—an act that she has regularly resorted to as a propagandist of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“What Uson does for a living is none of our business, but in that live steaming, apparently she overstepped the boundaries of decency.
“To quote:
“’Kasi nga sinungaling ka at fake news ka… Huwag mong araw-arawin ang katangahan mo! Expletive (bleeped out)… Bumili ka ng utak! … Nakakahawa na yang katangahan mo … Sobra lang talagang nakakagalit ang kabobohan ng babae na to…’ ”
“To paraphrase: The Vice President is a liar and a bearer of fake news. She is stupid, an idiot. Her stupidity arouses my anger.
“In addition, Uson also attacks the Philippine media:
“’Ito namang mga lokal na presstitutes natin puro pera ang iniisip kaysa sa kapakanan ng bayan…’”
“To paraphrase: The local media are nothing but paid hacks.
“May we point out that, in the 2007 Broadcast Code of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), Uson is liable of having violated certain sections:
“Article 2. ANALYSIS AND COMMENTARIES
“Sec. 2. Public affairs programs and commentaries shall be handled only by persons who have thorough knowledge of and practice broadcast ethics.
“Sec. 4. Public affairs programs shall strive to elicit responsible views on public issues, concerns and events from all sectors of society.
“May we also raise the point of whether Uson has a professional broadcaster’s license?” SFM/rga

A Petition in the Making

Usually, residents of the most prestigious villages come from old rich families who follow the rules of being part of the elite. In other words, to belong to the social circle, money comes second to lineage and connections. However, as times are changing, people who have made their fortune are slowly buying their way into these villages by purchasing residences.
When Trendy Celebrity (TC) decided to live in an exclusive village, the neighbors were not exactly too excited for TC to be in their locale. Given that TC has so much money, buying a home was as easy as eating pie for him. As the neighbors could not do anything to prevent TC from moving in, they had to bear the burden of having TC live in their midst.
The presence of TC and his family broke the tranquility of the village. Although residences can occupy a big lot, activities within residences can disturb the neighborhood. Given his popularity, TC would always have people coming in and out of his home. His guests coming from different sectors could be numerous such that their entry would be easily noticed. Of course, entering that village means one should be in a car, as walking is not a good idea in the area. More cars in the village create traffic as well as noise pollution, which the village has to suffer.
With guests come entertaining, and every day becomes one big gathering and/or party at the residence of TC. The guests talk on top of their voices and sometimes sound as though they are fighting, but they’re just really loud. Such behavior is a no-no in such an elite village, whose residents comprise ambassadors and diplomats of various states, business executives, wealthy politicians, and the old rich. On top of his guests are his numerous bodyguards who number more than a dozen. With their serenity of the village disturbed, homeowners decided to take action. After gathering evidence and talking about the effect of TC living in their village, the residents allegedly filed a petition to make TC leave their village. If they do succeed, then TC would learn that try as he might with his money and his popularity, he can never be part of high society even if he could wave more money than any of the residents of that exclusive village. Cash cannot buy breeding and the acceptance of high society.
