Never Ever Going Back
Pretty Talent (PT) used to be very close with her non-showbiz friends (NS), as they were with her when she started her dream of entering showbiz. NS would be there to keep PT grounded. They would listen to her talk about her problems, crushes, and even rants. Sometimes, they would feel that she’s tired and losing interest, but still, they would encourage her to pursue her dream. They assured her that they would always be behind her.
The breaks came and the path was clear. PT was on her way to making a name for herself. NS clapped as they watched her cry, laugh, stare, and love on screen. They were there for her, as they had promised even if the time with PT was becoming less and less. After a time of struggle, PT achieved her dream. One big project after another with dashing actor marked the studio’s right decision in investing in her. PT has become a major talent and any project, such as movies, teleseryes, and endorsements, guaranteed revenue for her and her management.
One day, NS realized that PT was no longer seeing them as often and the rare times of meeting her stopped altogether. They tried to get in touch with her, but she was not picking up. They thought she must have changed her number upon the suggestion of the management. Still, NS supported PT until doubts set in. When one of them tried to see PT, PT behaved as though there was no one in front of her. It was like that her friend was suddenly a stranger. When the rest found out about the distant behavior or PT, they were very discouraged. Worse, they found out why PT was ignoring them.
The truth of one’s past could always be painful. In the case of PT, she wanted to forget where she came from, as she was a big star now. With her breakthrough in the business, PT found friends who were different from NS. These were rich people with familiar sounding names, and obviously the opposite of NS. Perhaps, PT thought that by hanging around new friends and discarding her former ones, like NS, she could change the truth of how she started. Of course, NS knew how PT started and they could even share how PT was before she became famous. PT had neither lineage nor reputation. She was not a daughter of a wealthy family, as she had a simple start in life.
Apparently, PT no longer wants to even recall those days of struggle and when hunger almost came knocking at her door. Thus, part of changing the image of her past is denying the friendship of people who will make her remember.
