Repost: After Controversial Breakup, Mariah Carey Goes Public with New Love Interest

Mariah Carey didn’t have to announce that she’s found herself a new man already — the world can see it. The singer and her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka engaged in some serious PDA over Thanksgiving weekend in Maui.

There had been rumors that the two were more than friends since Carey’s split with Australian businessman James Packer made headlines in October. TMZ reported the same month that, back in the summer, Packer had Tanaka banned from Caesars Palace, the Las Vegas casino where Carey has a residency, because he was jealous. With Packer out of the picture, Carey, 46, cozied up to Tanaka, 33, during a getaway with friends and family. The two can be seen frolicking on the beach in some photos that don’t look at all candid.

A witness told Us Weekly that the new couple was openly affectionate.

“They were all over each other, making out and not wanting to be more than a few feet apart,” the source told the magazine. “They swam in the ocean, and he picked her up to kiss her. She was jumping into his arms, and he bent her back over his knee like they were dancing. Then they walked on the beach holding hands, and he gave her a piggyback ride. They had a lot of fun together and were very playful. She was kicking up the water to splash him, and he was laughing.”

The new couple’s behavior inspired someone else along for the Hawaii trip — Nick Cannon, Carey’s ex-husband, who was in the Aloha State to spend time with the couple’s 5-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan — to remind the diva of another time when she indulged in PDA on the beach. Cannon shared two pics of himself with the songstress years ago doing much the same thing as she did with Tanaka. Carey really likes taking glamour shots in her bikini!

Cannon and Carey were married in 2008 and split in 2014, although their divorce was finalized just before her breakup with Packer was announced. Still, with dem babies around, Connon will continue to be in the picture.

The same is true for Tanaka, at least for now, since he appears on the trailer for her new reality series, Mariah’s World.

In Denial as Always

Sometimes one is judged based on the company he/she keeps, whereas others are judged based on the location they are most often seen. The cliché, “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you who you are,” seems applicable to describe the hidden personality of Suppressed Celebrity (SC).

When SC was starting out, his looks broke the usual mode of male actors being pushed by his network then. Other than being good-looking, SC was also talented and did not need any technology to improve his voice during recording. He was also charming and amiable at the onset. As soon as he was made to face the camera, the network knew SC was another bankable talent.

Over the next few weeks, SC appeared in various projects to make him become familiar with the loyal audience of the network. Then, following the usual pattern, SC was paired off with Equally talented Actress (EA). The strategy delivered and a loveteam was born.

As SC and EA went through the cuteness stage of making fans yearn for their cheesy moments, press releases on the status of their relationship always implied that SC was the answer to the seeking heart of EA. When asked to comment, SC would just smile and shrug off questions pertaining to their real relationship. However, he never misses the opportunity to say that he loves her whenever the cameras are rolling in front of him.

While SC has the makings of a heartthrob, the issue of his gender keeps propping up. People started to notice the change in his attitude, that is, from an amiable person, SC was already showing crassness and rudeness. Apparently, fame did not humble him. However, others see this attitude as a manifestation of his inability to face his true identity. Then, conclusions were made when SC was seen in a place frequented by men who are cruising. One’s presence in that “secret” area indicates that one is on the lookout for a good time. Thus, people who recognized SC pretended he did not look familiar.

Perhaps, SC was just enjoying the company of the same gender, was the usual thought of the ones who saw him, and this reaction was often followed by laughter, as they knew SC could not possibly out himself just like that. After all, local showbiz and fans are worse in condemning actors who admit to be gay and SC knows that he will lose everything, from endorsements to roles, the moment he frees himself from his boxed image.
