Zsa Zsa Padilla has finally broken her silence days after her daughter Karylle confirmed that she has called off her engagement with architect Conrad Onglao.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Padilla said she is currently in the process of "healing."

“I’m healing. I’m very blessed that I have my family with me and the good support of my friends. It’s all I need I guess,” she said.

Padilla said she also learned many life lessons from her failed relationship with Onglao.

“A friend of mine said kahit ganito na 'yung edad natin, hindi talaga tayo natatapos sa life lessons. So 'yun ang mga sinulat ko, kung ano 'yung mga natutunan ko dito, and hopefully not to commit the same mistakes again,” she said.

Asked to cite some of these learnings, Padilla said: “Of course to love yourself, and to also remember that your family got your back, and also, to keep your private life private.”

“Masyado akong naengganyo sa social media. Mula naman nung kami ni Dolphy, my life has been an open book. From now on, my private life has to keep private. I have to keep some for myself,” she added.

The singer-actress, meanwhile, thanked her supporters for all the encouraging words they are sending her way.

“Thank you so much for all your positive messages and of course pasensya na dahil sa edad ko, talagang nagkakamali pa rin tayo sa buhay. Kaya talaga tayo nandito para mabuhay is to learn. It’s a never-ending process. Life is good and God is good. I’m so blessed that he’s been really good so I’m thankful,” she said.

Just last March, Padilla told reporters that she was already planning her wedding with Onglao, which was being planned for later this year. Padilla, at the time, admitted that she wants an intimate ceremony.

Padilla and Onglao, who proposed to the actress in August last year, have been a couple for more than two years.

Before Onglao, Padilla was the long-time partner of the late comedian Dolphy. She was also married to dentist Modesto Tatlonghari, the father of Karylle. They separated in 1987.

Onglao, on the other hand, was previously married to interior designer Ivy Almario, with whom he has two sons. They were divorced in the United States and obtained a legal separation, and church annulment here in the Philippines.

Delusions of Entitlement

The moment Stubborn Actor (SA) was spotted by his discoverer, SA was on his way to fame and stardom. In a few months, SA was launched among an elite set of network talents. SA easily gained fans because he was good-looking, tall, and a bit talented. His looks and physique complemented the presence of the female talents of the network. While he started with bad acting, the network did not give up on him. SA was given the best projects and acted with the best talents of the network. He had to shape up or lose his foothold.

As SA was reaping success, rumors of being the flavor of the month of a network insider started to circulate. After all, his being included in high profile projects was often questioned because his acting skills were still too raw. Still, SA persevered. He became part of several significant teleseryes and hit movies. SA was even singing and hosting, which kept fans interested in him. With his earnings, he started investing in various high profile ventures.

However, time was not kind on SA. Younger talents started finding their places in the network and his contemporaries started moving on, getting left and right recognition and even settling down. His investments failed to bring in profit. When SA realized that his career seemed to be stagnant with his network, as he was not being given his usual projects, he started to negotiate with another network. This network thought SA was going to transfer and even prepare a welcome, but SA suddenly had cold feet and stayed on with his network.

The decision to stay on did not really change anything. Other stars had overtaken him and soon, he chose to settle down. Nonetheless, things did not work out well. With no solid career and a failed love life, SA moved on. As years passed, his acting career had to take the backseat, but his presence filled the gossip pages because of his choices of whom to love.

While everyone thought he was staying out of acting, his network gave him another chance. However, as soon as the project was announced, circumstances forced it to be shelved for a time. Rather than wait, SA tried his luck with Another Network (AN) and he was given a meaty role. However, SA continued with his snobbish attitude, which some claimed resulted from his hobnobbing with the society crowd.

When the project commenced, the production was faced with the attitude of SA like he was still the big star eons ago. SA did not even consider that he was just one of many stars in the said project. For him, he was still a star, and the production felt that seeming sense of entitlement of SA. SA was giving them a headache, such as coming late to the set and behaving like a prima donna. Lucky for him, the crew patiently worked on the said project. Unfortunately, the attitude of SA did not do anything good for the show. His acting was still the same and fans were not interested in him. After a few weeks, the project was ended, as the ratings were too low. Meanwhile, SA still carried on, feeling like he was still a huge star and his whims should be followed.
