Repost: 'Karen Humiliated My Mom' Says Vandolph Quizon

The infamous interview of Karen Davila with Senatorial aspirant Alma Moreno garnered scores of negative criticisms from the people. The ABS-CBN journalist asked the actress-politician several questions concerning national issues, which includes the Reproductive Health Bill and Political Dynasty. The interview got awkward when Moreno appeared to be rattled and oblivious about the thorny topics.

Bunch of people are making fun of Moreno when the ‘awkward interview’ circulated on the internet. Different mocking memes and parodies sprouted on social media bashing the Parañaque City councilor. Netizens are taking Davila’s side saying that the journalist is only doing her job of scrutinizing future leaders of the country. However, the son of Moreno, Valdolph Quizon, thinks otherwise. He said in an interview of Philippine Daily Inquirer that Davila humiliated his mother. He also noted that the journalist should not choose whom to respect in her show.

“Karen humiliated my mom on national TV. She kept pounding [on her]. She let my mom get rattled. My mom deserves to be respected because she is the chair of PCL (Philippine Councilors League), and she has been serving the country for so long. My mom is … [a person of] action and not just words. Some politicians are good speakers. They sweet-talk us to the point that they fool us and do corrupt things. My mom is not like them!”

Behaving Like a Superstar

At the peak of her career, Talented Actress (TA) was half of a very successful loveteam. In fact, TA and her partner (HP) were even rumored to have a relationship, but it was thwarted as both were very young at that time. Soon, their cuteness faded as they became mature and pursued other passions. Because of the growing trend of bold movies then, TA had to lie low, as she did not want to be part of the daring actresses and her management has yet to figure out how her talent could win over the flesh shown by bold talents.

For several years, TA opted for the quiet life and moved out of showbiz. However, TA could not stay away for long as her blood has showbusiness flowing into it. After all, she belongs to one of the biggest clans and influential personalities in the business. As time passed, TA made her comeback, but there was a problem. She could no longer return to being cute as she has grown older and HP was very much married, and like TA, had non-showbiz priorities.

Finally, someone thought of repackaging TA into the role of a villainess. To their delight, TA was truly an actress, as she delivered convincing performances of rude and feisty characters that made the life of the heroine like hell. When opportunities came knocking, TA was ready and decided to come home.

In the past years, TA has moved from one station to another for various projects. However, the years of living away from showbiz have hardened TA and she has changed from being timid to being assertive. Unfortunately, her assertiveness has crossed over to diva-like behavior. In a soap, where she plays a major role, TA has unwittingly hit the nerves of some of the people involved in the production and some of her co-actors as well. For instance, when TA is called for her scene, she would ask for more time and give excuses like the makeup is still up for retouching. Before she actually steps out, she has to be coaxed several times. Of course, her scenes are not done solo, and thus, while TA takes her sweet time, her co-actors have to wait for her until she feels like coming out to do her scene.

Some people who have observed her behavior are wondering if TA is exhibiting her true self by behaving like a diva or is merely carrying her role even behind the scenes. Nonetheless, her making people wait has gotten the ire of people. Surprisingly, TA belongs to a clan known for professionalism, humility, and compassion for ordinary folks, such as the crew of a movie set. Yet, TA seems unmindful of the people around her.
