Best to Keep Quiet

More often, when a network introduces potential stars, the camp of the network’s current stars is more jittery than the actual talents themselves. The entry of potential stars signals that the slice of work the network has could become smaller for the current stars. The threat gets bigger if the potential stars have already created a name for themselves in movies or print ads, have subtle connections, such as being the child of showbiz celebrities, or have good and appealing looks.

Take the case of the camp of the one of the network’s popular stars, Controversial Teen (CT). CT has a sweet image and has a strong solid following. What makes CT controversial is the reaction of her fans whenever an issue crops up. The fans can be feisty with their reactions in social media and can compose essays just so to defend her. As her fans cut across social classes, it is not surprising that CT is adored regardless of what project she undertakes. Moreover, her fans save up and spend for her.

Coincidentally, just like other stars in her network, CT’s career is well guarded by a Protective Overseer (PO). PO is very keen as to how the network will position CT and has been heard to say her piece whenever CT seems to be at a disadvantage. Thus, when the network signed up Surprising Couple (SC), the network was shaken up. After all, the network is overloaded with bankable and talented personalities, and the entry of SC has just made the space denser.

The immediate reaction of was that SC was bound to threaten the partnership of CT with Unruffled Celebrity (UC). However, the camp of CT cannot do anything, as the entry of SC was a management decision. Keeping true to her congenial image, CT was not bothered by the presence of SC. While CT behaved professionally whenever she found herself together with SC, PO was behaving otherwise. When she has the opportunity, expect PO to spew unkind words for SC as attested by eavesdroppers and other persons who have heard her. Neither does she want CT to be near SC.

Does PO have any right to react this way? Apparently, PO might have forgotten that the network sometimes signs up potential competition to have control, and thus, slowly and subtly eliminating any threat to their own stars. In a few months, the trend will show if SC were indeed a threat to CT and UC.

Don't let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself. Do what you love. And most importantly, be kind to others, even if you don't like them. – Stacy London
