Reacting Negatively to the Network Offer

A common adage passed on by senior stars is that “there are no small roles, only small actors.” They even stress the fact that actors, specially the new ones, should take as many opportunities to improve their craft. However, such is not the case for a network talent (NT) who was discovered in a talent show.

While NT did not emerge as the top winner in the talent show, his network gave him the break. Soon, the fans, audience, and even critics admired his acting talent. Even award-giving bodies recognized his effort. He then acted in movies, and even landed significant lead roles in a few. Stories of his thoughtfulness and kindness even hit some showbiz columns. Thus, everyone believed NT was humble and showbiz had not changed him a bit. Alas, people spoke too early.

In the current soap of his network, NT was offered a role that would make him as the love interest of the lead actress (LA). NT turned down the offer and the reason that was given was that he had already done lead roles, and therefore, he should no longer be playing “extra” roles.

Such a decision was too bad for NT as his loss is network newcomer’s (NN) gain. As NN will be in the series, this role serves as his introduction to the audience of his new home. On hindsight, NN is a more competent actor than NT, and is fresher face on screen.

What happened to NT? Has he not learned that even the rival network succeeded in having its biggest stars to be guest performers in their hit teleseryes? Had he accepted the role with LA, he would have gained exposure as LA and her reel leading man have a very loyal following. Moreover, if he continues with his attitude, his network might just release him. With the constant rigodon of talents, no one is indispensable.

Sex Caused Janet Napoles' Bleeding?

The lawyer of businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles denied Friday that his client had sex inside the hospital, which caused her to suffer vaginal spotting and prevented her from going back to jail.

Speaking to ANC's Top Story, lawyer Bruce Rivera rejected as "malicious" any claim that Napoles had sex or any intimate contact while confined in the Ospital ng Makati.

This is after Napoles' physician admitted that sex can cause vaginal bleeding.

"It is a fantastic and even a metaphysical claim because in the first place, what happened was the prosecution asked if it is possible that sex or intimate contact would have caused bleeding. So the doctors said it can be possible because siyempre if there is a wound and there is sex, then it can cause bleeding. But the doctors were very clear that there was no physical contact," he said.

Rivera noted that doctors and nurses are always going in and out of Napoles' room, which would have made any intimate contact for Napoles impossible.

He said guards are also stationed outside Napoles' room, and a relative of the family, including Mr. Napoles, is always present.

He said the sex accusation is meant to undermine Napoles' credibility. He said he will ask Napoles' doctors to issue a written clarification.

Napoles, the alleged mastermind in the pork barrel scam, has been in the hospital since last month for a hysterectomy.

She was scheduled to be transferred back to Fort Sto. Domingo but Judge Elmo Alameda suspended his order after doctors advised that she be allowed to stay in the hospital to control the bleeding.

Rivera has said Napoles should stay longer in the hospital until she has fully recovered.
