ADMU Addressing Issues on Sexual Harassment Cases

Over the part few weeks, Ateneo De Manila has been under fire from various sectors on the way the administration has been handling alleged incidents of sexual harassment of professors on students.

Social media sites have various testimonies coming from alleged victims of certain professors from over a year ago. While some of these stories have not translated into cases, other students have filed their complaints. Despite the Data Privacy Act, a student recently revealed his alleged experience and frustration at the outcome of the case he filed. The post, which was already deleted, elicited various responses from fellow students, alumni network, and professors. More importantly, other victims came forward with their own stories that supported such claims and several names of professors were disclosed.

Such reactions prompted the students to organize a protest to remind the community that sexual harassment will not be tolerated and the fight continues.

The ADMU administration, meanwhile, has released official statements on the cases and stressed the due process has to be followed. No less than the ADMU President, Fr. Jett Villarin, apologized for the handling of the said cases and the pain inflicted on the Atenean community at the height of the controversy. After meeting with the ADMU Sanggunian (student council), Fr. Villarin has revealed the creation of the Office for the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults, which will be under the Office of the President. Meanwhile, faculty members have released a statement and an open letter in support of certain accused professors and encouraging critical discourse on addressing the shortcomings of dealing with such cases, respectively.

No Love Lost

All Brave Relation (BR) wanted to do was perhaps protect the interests of Torn Actress (TA). While taking a breather from commitments, TA found herself in controversy brought about by the feistiness of BR. TA was surprised and shocked when seemingly innocent posts triggered a mass response from her fans and bashers.

After gaining mileage, BR suddenly became silent. The guess was that he could have been advised to take things easy. True enough, TA allegedly talked to BR. TA told him that his opinions are not helping her and Male Celebrity (MC) is not happy at being dragged as well. Besides, MC had to bear the brunt of the words of BR.

Consequently, TA was called by her management and requested to speak to BR. After all, TA has projects and if BR continues, then her activities will surely be affected. Her image and latest projects would eventually be soiled by the exchanges of negative viewpoints She was reminded that many talents are emerging and although, she is a good talent, someone would always be better. In addition, TA’s handlers reached out to BR and explained to him the repercussions of uncalled for statements, such as endorsers pulling out and not taking TA as an image model.

When TA spoke to BR, she did not expect the response. BR allegedly replied that the reason for her lagging career is that she’s a mere follower of MC and her management. In response, TA said that she’s old enough to handle her affairs and BR should just stay out of it. Then, bam! Allegedly, TA received a blow from BR, who did not like the way she answered him.

Immediately, TA left BR and she had not been seen since in his home. TA felt bad at the way BR reacted to her point. As a result, TA had not left her contribution to the household expenses of BR.

‘To most of us, adulthood means being able to earn a living, possess a home, get married and rear children, and this implies having autonomy or control over one's life. In the 19th century, becoming an adult was celebrated as a liberation from paternal authority. Today we regard it more as a time of regret and stagnation.’ – Jane Ridley

Repost: Alexa Ilacad Reveals She Feels Bad Toward Sharlene San Pedro

“I was so surprised na I woke up one day using my Twitter and I saw na they were teaming up against me,” ani Alexa.

“And then, I confirmed na it was real. At hindi lang sila, ‘yung buong group nila na ‘yung iba naman doon talaga, 'Goin’ Bulilit' pa lang, binu-bully na ako," dagdag ng aktres.

Ang mas masakit aniya ay mismong si Sharlene na itinuturing niyang matalik na kaibigan ang isa sa nambu-bully sa kanya.

“Pero I was really hurt, pinaka-hurt kay Sharlene because I thought we were friends. We were okay. Good kami. And then, ayun, nagulat ako one day na, ‘ano 'to?’ Inaaway nila kami ni Jairus (Aquino), pinagtutulungan nila kami. So, sabi ko, ‘saan ito nagsimula?’ And then I found out na ... inutusan daw ni Nash si Sharlene na gawin ‘yun,” kuwento ni Alexa.

Sa tanong kung bakit ngayon lang siya nagsalita tungkol dito kahit matagal na itong nangyari, sagot ni Alexa: "Because I’m so tired, it's so tiring, it’s been so long. And the fact na they’re still grilling me about it. I’m done. I’m gonna say everything once and for all para tapos na. Para tumigil na rin silang lahat. Kung hindi sila titigil, hindi ko sila papansinin, bahala sila.”

Samantala, maliban sa pelikulang "Santigwar" na ipapalabas sa Oktubre 30 sa mga sinehan, ay abala si Alexa bilang parte ng sikat na serye na "The Killer Bride."
