Often, a talent is invited to join the entertainment industry because he/she fits a certain type. For example, a young man has the looks of a matinee idol and his career might be centered on building toward that goal. Similarly, talents who have innate skills, such as making people laugh, would gear toward comedy. Unfortunately, only a handful can freely move from one stereotype to another.

All-around Talent (AT) realized that his looks could only take him so far. AT has a certain look that would make him awkward if he shifted away from roles that were originally intended for him. Production teams have a hard time finding a different role for AT, especially now that projects are limited. Moreover, the A-listers are prioritized over other talents. Although AT has connections, he is still not in the list.

AT approached his Secret Backer (SB) and asked if they could hook up again. SB knew that giving in to AT would have a catch. Thus, SB refused AT and said that she has no time to think about her urges, as she has to deal with the effects of the pandemic. Pressure from management and the new normal in the production have resulted in changes. SB has to focus on work instead of spending intimate moments with AT. Besides, management has issued a reminder discouraging extra-curricular activities in exchange for slots in projects. AT could not do anything, but wait for projects.

Rumors have it that AT had to contact his previous clients for possible service bookings while between jobs. After all, staying idle will not pay the bills.

The career of Showbiz Personality (SP) seems to be a family affair. When SP started, Overseer Relative (OR) made sure her earnings were properly monitored. SP has control over her finances, but she has to inform OR if she’s making withdrawals. OR just wants to guard SP from being taken advantage of or from her making unmindful transactions.

One day, OR noticed that a substantial withdrawal was made by SP from her account. OR then asked SP where she spent the money. Besides, OR was not informed before the transaction so they can keep a record.

SP is not in the red, as she belongs to celebrities who have security in their career and finances. SP can relax and afford not to work during quarantine and still live comfortably. However, the withdrawal bothered OR and when she found out where the money was spent, a discussion ensued.

OR found out that SP spent the money on her Talented Boyfriend (TB). Between the two of them, TB has many pursuits and SP shows her support by extending financial help. OR did not like the relationship, as TB is being spent on without substantial return on investment. OR learned that SP lost money in a failed project that TB was involved in. OR reminded SP to save money, as times are unpredictable.

This time, SP spoke her mind. She answered OR that if she can spend on OR’s family, then why could she not spend on her man. The discussion ended.

Due to the pandemic and as a form of appreciation, supermarkets and other services designate express check-out counters for frontliners. Out of respect, non-frontliner customers do not form their queues in those locations. Once in a while, some customers fall in line and pretend that they are unaware of the privileged lane.

Sometime ago, Network Talent (NT) went to a supermarket to shop. After filling in two carts of groceries, NT was shocked at the long lines for check-out. The distancing policy also added to making the lines longer. NT did not want to fall in line and decided to put her carts in the shorter line that was designated for frontliners.

When NT reached the counter, the cashier did not recognize her as she was wearing the mandatory face mask and shield. The cashier then asked NT if she was a frontliner and asked for an ID. NT said she did not have one and removed her mask and shield. NT then said her name. The cashier said the line was for medical personnel and other personalities considered doing frontliner work. An ordinary citizen like NT should not be in the line, the cashier added.

Behind NT were actual frontliners and her full two carts were taking space. NT asked if the cashier could process her groceries. The cashier remained firm and refused her request citing that giving into her demand would be unfair for others. NT’s voice was getting higher and she asked to see the supervisor. The supervisor arrived and NT said that the cashier should be told that artists are frontliners as well, as they provide entertainment. The supervisor responded that artists were not in the IATF list and presented the list to NT.

As the commotion was getting attention, NT was getting embarrassed. Thus, she walked out and left her grocery carts.
